Two for One: Double Disney Birthdays! *Meg nonTR upd 9/23* // *Help out Katie! 10/22*

Hey guys!

Katie updated for me earlier and I wanted to give you guys more details. The flight was canceled at 4:30 PM, and when I came home to talk to my mom, I was flipping out and crying (with Charles and our friend in my room. ) After several ideas being tossed back and forth, lots of going online to check flights and even Amtrak, and finding out that the flights from Boston and Manchester were really crappy, I mentioned flying out of Hartford, which is only about a two hour drive from here. My mom spent a long time on the phone with some nice Delta people, and as Katie already told you guys, we're now going February 12-February 19. Our Garden Grocer order is straightened out, we're still staying at Pop in a preferred room, and ME is all set. Only one ADR was affected, which was Le Cellier. KTTK tour and all other ADRs are not affected. :goodvibes

The new flight is leaving Hartford on Friday at 6:50 AM and arriving in Orlando around 10 AM, which is basically the exact time that our flight was tomorrow. It looks like we're going to leave for Hartford on Thursday morning or afternoon and stay at a nearby hotel and just hang out and have fun till our flight. The weather is supposed to be fine for Hartford on Friday, no snow in the forecast at all. Kailyn's first questions when I picked her up from work and explained the changes were, "so it's all set?" Yes. "Is mom making me go to school?" :lmao:

I'm so relieved that it is all working out, and now Kailyn's birthday won't be our last night, which is going to be very nice! I'm heading out now and I'll respond to everyone individually later on. THANK YOU for all your good thoughts, and Katie, thanks for updating and responding to my distraught texts! :grouphug:

Well, that was a little stressful. :sad1:

It's all good, though. The only changes are the dates and the airport. We're SO glad that Meg thought of Hartford. We sure didn't. I was checking out Manchester, NH, and the only flights out of there had two stops, one in Detroit and one somewhere in Ohio.

We're just so relieved and so happy that we can still go. :woohoo:

Katie thank you for posting the update and for being there for Meg.

MeMom, I can't believe Trent is going without you! Is he just there for the weekend?

I know. I am about to disown him!
He will be in Gainesville and then in Orlando with his girlfriend. He told me tonight they are just going to WDW on Sunday only - Animal Kingdom in the morning and maybe Magic Kingdom later. If you guys end up in either of those places, text him and say hello. You could always get a group picture for him to send and torture me even more!!!

I'll PM you his #.

Katie thank you for posting the update and for being there for Meg.

You are both very welcome! I was freaking out for you :scared1: I need Meg to text me some pics of WDW to get me through until we go in March  I told my mom about your travel issues, she is happy that you are getting to go, even if your dates are different...but now she is freaking out that the same might happen to us....crazy lady! We don't go until almost Mid-March...

And now you get more time to tell us about your plans Meg!!!! And a few days to just relax before you go!

Small update -- my dad made a reservation at a Holiday Inn Express that is either at or near the Hartford airport for Thursday. He wants to leave between noon and 2 PM to beat the traffic, so we'll probably get there, find a nearby place to have dinner, and then crash nice and early for our 6:50 flight. This is where the Advil PM will come in handy. ;) I'm calling the vet that Caesar is boarding at tomorrow to explain the situation and extend his stay until next Friday. My mom also made another ADR earlier for the Wednesday that we WOULD be leaving -- 3 PM at 50's Prime Time Cafe!

That stinks that she's leaving two days later! But I'm glad she was able to keep the same amount of days!

Meg, in case you end up not going to MK on the 16th we can rearrange our DIS meet. We'll be at Epcot part of the day on the 17th and then we're going to AK for evening EMH! I know you like riding Everest at night so depending on your plans, maybe we can meet up and visit the Yeti together ;) We'll talk about it when you come on later!

I'm sorry the snow interfered with your fun!!!

I'm actually okay with leaving two days later -- we got to add another ADR to the Wednesday we were supposed to leave, and we're not leaving the day after Kailyn's birthday, so we can stay out and "party" without that feeling of dread about leaving hanging over us. :goodvibes

It is safe to say that we'll be at AK that night for the EMH! I would love to go visit the yeti with you! I'll definitely let you know where we'll be on the 16th, too, after Chef Mickey's.

That stinks about the cancellation! I'm so glad you were able to reschedule though. Safe travel thoughts going your way!!! :)

Thank you so much. :goodvibes It all ended up working out really well. I'm probably more excited about leaving Thursday afternoon and staying at the hotel in Hartford than I should be. :rotfl:

Oh
my
goodness!

This weather is sure making its mark on a heck of a lot of people!
I know you had to be frustrated out of your mind while you were working all this out. I'm glad you get to stay the same amount of time, though.

I think Trent is going to be in Magic Kingdom on Saturday and Animal Kingdom Sunday. Do you know your Saturday and Sunday plans? You guys should try to cross paths. He's a nice guy and easy to talk to. He'll be with nowellsl's daughter.

I will be glad when this winter is over. Hopefully, we will have a beautiful and peaceful spring!

Frustrated isn't the word for it...:scared: Charles was trying so hard to calm me down, but I could not stop crying and freaking out. I immediately texted Katie to tell her and vent my frustration. I'm just so glad that my mom spent all that time on the phone with Delta, and that the nice people got us on that flight. Some of the ones leaving Boston or Manchester left at 10 AM, but didn't arrive in Orlando until 7 PM because of layovers. :scared1: We definitely lucked out.

MeMom, I can't believe Trent is going without you! Is he just there for the weekend?

I thought I remembered seeing MeMom mention something about that on her report when I was skimming through the replies earlier, but I was afraid to mention it. :rotfl:

Well, that was a little stressful. :sad1:

It's all good, though. The only changes are the dates and the airport. We're SO glad that Meg thought of Hartford. We sure didn't. I was checking out Manchester, NH, and the only flights out of there had two stops, one in Detroit and one somewhere in Ohio.

Katie thank you for posting the update and for being there for Meg.

More than a little... :scared1:

I don't understand why a flight leaving from New Hampshire would go all the way over THERE to get to Orlando...well, I guess I can, because other people need to travel, but wow.

I got your PM -- thank you! Will you let him know that a DIS friend is going to be down there, too, so if he gets a text from a strange number, not to worry? :rotfl: I'll PM you my number back. I am super shy in person (don't worry, Tink, I have talked to you through here enough to probably be quite vocal when we meet up :rotfl2: ) I'd like to meet up with him if we can!

You are both very welcome! We were typing on top of each other :rotfl:

I'm totally okay with the different/later dates -- I would have liked it more if we could have gone when you guys are going, but I'm excited that we got another ADR and that Kailyn's birthday isn't going to be our last day any longer. And we do get kind of an early start because we have to drive to Hartford and stay at the hotel, so that makes me excited, too. :rotfl2: I'll probably be texting you all the way to Hartford. I'm glad to have a couple of more days to relax, too. I don't even have to worry about packing!

I'll definitely update more about our plans tomorrow, because chances are we'll be snowed in and I'll need something to distract me. Aside from finally fixing Kailyn's roots. Maybe I can ask my dad to take me to an empty parking lot and teach me how to drive the red Cherokee (aka the Beast) in the snow...could be very very interesting!

It is safe to say that we'll be at AK that night for the EMH! I would love to go visit the yeti with you! I'll definitely let you know where we'll be on the 16th, too, after Chef Mickey's.

Yay!!! My mom can't do most roller coasters, so it'll be fun to ride with someone besides a random person I get seated with when I'm in the single rider line ;) My mom loves roller coasters, but she's had back problems for the past few years so she can't do many of them anymore. She's fine on Splash Mountain and she's okay on Thunder Mountain, but I don't think EE would be a good idea for her.

I am super shy in person (don't worry, Tink, I have talked to you through here enough to probably be quite vocal when we meet up :rotfl2: )

Me too!!! But like you said, we've talked enough on here so I probably won't be shy ::yes::

I just realizaed that by the time I start getting texts and pics from you, I'll be on vacation :cool1: Even if you text me before 2 on Friday I won't see it until after school. Now your texts will be even more exciting because I won't have any more school to get through before I leave :thumbsup2

Even though the snow gods weren't very nice to you, they were nice to me! I'm having a snow day tomorrow! It's supposed to get really bad around here so almost every town in RI is having a snow day :goodvibes

How frustrating and stressful, Megan! I am glad everything was worked out okay, but how hard to now have to wait two more days before you can leave. I know you are ready to be down there in our happy place!

WOW! I came on here to apologize for not wishing you "Bon Voyage".....

My heart sank when I read that the flight was cancelled.

I'm so relieved you were able to find another flight.

It will be fun to have the extra night at the hotel.

I can just imagine the stress your DMom was under.

I can totally sympathize with the weather affecting your travel plans.
That was the main reason I cancelled the March Break trip. I couldn't garantee there wouldn't be snow.

I can say without a doubt there won't be any snow in August.

Congrats on the new ADR! I asked Lexi (DD) if she wanted to eat at 50's and she said she would rather go back to Sci Fi. Let me know how you liked it when you get back...I hear the milkshakes are heavenly! ;)

******************************

Memom I had no idea Trent was dating Nowellsl's daughter. (I wish them all the best!) Awww! To be in love and spend Valentine's day at WDW. What could be sweeter! :lovestruc
Maybe he will bring back his beloved Mom a surprize.

Another very small update -- my mom said she got an email at 12:46 AM saying today's flight was canceled. The only reason my mom knew about today's flight being canceled, early last night, was because she logged into the Delta website to check the itinerary again and it stated that the flight had been canceled. I do not want to think of how many people didn't check their email and just looked out their windows early this morning, saw NO snow at all, went to Logan, and found out that the flight was canceled. :scared: The flights out of Boston and the other nearest airport, Manchester, were, as I said, pretty crappy (nine hours total to get to Orlando!)

My mom has reassured me that she will get up early tomorrow morning to do the online check-in for Friday's flight. She also told me that she got up around 7 to go to the bathroom, and when she got back upstairs, my dad was awake. She made some comment to him about how it was 7, and he said they should be coming around with the beverage cart any time now. :lmao: As for my dog, I called the vet that he is boarding at, explained the situation, and they said it was no problem to extend his stay until next Friday. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow before we leave to pick up an extra bag of dog food to drop off for him, just in case. They were very nice about extending the stay and the woman I talked to on the phone told me not to worry with all the "funky weather patterns" we've been having, that Caesar would be safe with them. :goodvibes I'll be doing a loose schedule a little later on, when I'm going crazy from not being able to get out.

When I went to AK with just my dad last year, we kept on getting in the single rider line at EE. :rotfl: There were some people that we encountered in the regular (very long!) line that finally got to the loading area, and when the CM asked how many, they said "one." It was like a 45 minute wait and my dad and I made it through in the single rider in 5 or less. It wasn't even just one person, it was several. :confused3

All of the surrounding cities here called off school last night. A private school in my city was called, but Kailyn's and my mom's school never was. It happens a lot, because the superintendent of our public schools is a jerk, but they were already getting out at 12 today, anyway. Kailyn said that the headmaster made an announcement yesterday during classes that school was NOT going to be canceled today. Kailyn didn't care, and she still didn't care after I told her what happened last night because our mom told me she wasn't going to make her go to school today. :rotfl: So Kailyn is still sleeping.

How frustrating and stressful, Megan! I am glad everything was worked out okay, but how hard to now have to wait two more days before you can leave. I know you are ready to be down there in our happy place!

Thank you! It started out so badly but ended really well. I'm actually pretty excited about the changes -- we have an ADR at the time on Wednesday that we'd normally be getting home, we're not going home the day after Kailyn's birthday, and we actually get to start preparing to leave tomorrow. :goodvibes It gives me even more time to get excited, and after what we went through, I am going to appreciate being there SO much more!

Maybe he will bring back his beloved Mom a surprize.

I just saw when I went to post the other replies that you had just replied too

It was really stressful -- I felt so bad for my mom because she didn't want to tell us. I'm so glad that Kailyn ended up working yesterday, because she didn't have to deal with the uncertainty of the flights and plans. I got to pick her up from work and tell her that there was some bad news, BUT it ended up working out. When I left to go get her, my mom was off the phone with Delta and on the phone with Disney, and I got a text as we were walking to the car saying that it was all set.

I'm really looking forward to the extra night at the hotel. It's only about a two hour drive to Hartford, and we're planning on finding a place to eat and just hanging out in the hotel. I think the Holiday Inn Express is either in the airport or as near to the airport as you can get, which is going to be very nice!

I'm really excited about the new ADR, because it's at the time that we'd normally already be home. I am definitely looking forward to a milkshake, and of course, any antics that my dad might pull there. :rolleyes1

She made some comment to him about how it was 7, and he said they should be coming around with the beverage cart any time now. :lmao:

:rotfl2:

I'm glad you got everything settled with your doggy! We know our dog will be fine because she loves staying with my dad. They're buddies ::yes:: But we're a little worried about our kitties. They have to go to the kennel :guilty: I'm sure they'll be fine but I know they hate it! It's the same kennel we leave them at when we go away in the summer but we've never left them there in the winter so I'm hoping they don't get cold!

I'll be doing a loose schedule soon too :)

When I went to AK with just my dad last year, we kept on getting in the single rider line at EE. :rotfl: There were some people that we encountered in the regular (very long!) line that finally got to the loading area, and when the CM asked how many, they said "one." I love the single rider line because I can get on rides so fast! I had a fastpass for RNR last year and while I was walking in I noticed that the single rider line was really short. As soon as I got off I went right back on through that line :thumbsup2

Is the EE line usually shorter during evening EMH?

All of the surrounding cities here called off school last night. I find it hilarious that there's almost no snow on the ground :rotfl: I guess it's supposed to get bad a little later.

I hate our superintendent!!! We're always the last town to get called off. And there was one day two years ago where it was REALLY hot and most schools got called off. It was like 110 with the humidity :scared1: Any school that didn't have air conditioning got cancelled...except us :confused3 The weird thing is the middle school in our town got out early but we were the only school in the area that had to stay all day. A few kids passed out from the heat. It was miserable!!!! :headache:

I was so glad to be able to extend his stay there till next Friday -- they don't close until 7 on Fridays, and our flight gets into Hartford at 3, so that is just one more thing that ended up working out perfectly. :thumbsup2 How many kitties do you have? Katie and I have had so many discussions about cats -- I love them, but I'm allergic, along with my dad, Mike, and Kailyn, so we can't have one. I tried to convince Charles that we need a cat when we move in together, but he absolutely detests cats. I can't write some of the words he has used to describe them, but one of the nicer ones he used was "pissy." :rolleyes1

It is 12:35 and there is NOTHING on the ground. :headache: They predicted it to start at 11. I saw a few flakes earlier, but it wasn't sticking, and then it just stopped altogether. I think the windshield of my car might have a very thin layer. I am so going to Barnes and Noble before it starts up.

When we did the EMH at AK last year, the line for EE seemed much shorter, but it was a few days before President's Day weekend, so I don't know if that will play a role? :confused3 Honestly, though, my mom and I were talking earlier about how so many people on the DIS say that President's week is one of the very worst times to visit, but when we went in April 2008, we thought it was much more crowded than when we went last February, and it wasn't even around Easter. I'm sure that as it gets later, the crowds will thin out a lot. I never cared about the crowds, and I care even less now -- I will just be so happy to finally be there! :rotfl:

My mom can't do EE more than once (she could do it once and maybe do it again an hour later), and she saw that your mom couldn't ride it, so she said that she could keep her company. :)

We have 3 kitties :cat: I love cats too :)

It's snowing really hard but not a lot is sticking to the ground. It's gonna be a mess later when it gets colder!

We've been in April before and it's always been more crowded then than in Feb. We always going during the April and Feb vacation weeks but most states just have the break in March so it's not too crowded then.

Oh cool! I always feel bad when I'm on thrill rides and my mom has to wait for me, but I don't think she minds. Plus, I can think of it as payback for making me go to the Hall of Presidents  :rotfl:

So glad everything worked out! The snow started here last night around 6pm and hasn't stopped yet! I have a friend that was supposed to fly out this am and her connecting flight was in Philadelphia :sad2: I am thinking it was canceled or at the very least the one in Philadelphia would be.....I feel really bad for her because she was supposed to be going to North Carolina to see her son graduate from the Army Rangers :guilty:
Primetime is a lot of fun....especially with a group of people :thumbsup2 I thik I was laughing so hard I cried through the whole meal!! Looks nice and sunny for the whole time you are there too! :cool1:

It's starting to come down a little more here, but just a little. It's still not sticking AT ALL. I was able to go get coffee with Charles, go to the Barnes & Noble about 25 minutes away, get an extra bag of dog food to drop off for Caesar tomorrow, pick up my prescription, and make it back home with no issues.

I'm glad we are not the only ones who found it more crowded in April! Our schools also have the breaks in February and April. I get a break in March, but that's only because I'm in college. April was insane.

Thank you! Its been snowing for a little bit but not sticking at all. They've changed the forecast from 8-10" or 10-15" to 2-4". :headache: It's so aggravating. I am really, really looking forward to just being on the plane on Friday and getting down there. I'm so sorry for your friend, that really stinks. :(

I'm excited for PTC. I'm especially excited to view the desserts on the View-Master :rotfl:

I'm so sorry for your friend -- that really stinks! I would be so upset. :(

It is just now starting to snow a little harder and stick. The prediction for here is now 2-4" instead of 8-10" or 10-15" (depending on which station you watched.) It's supposed to stop snowing in Hartford around midnight, which means that they'll have all day tomorrow to clean up for our flight on Friday. I know I won't relax until we are on the plane on Friday morning, but I am staying positive and envisioning us there on Friday having an amazing time. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to us, so we have been very lucky -- it was just a wrench in the plans and everything is working out so well now. Clear forecast for Thursday/Friday, almost identical flight times on Friday to our flight today, still getting a week in, no problem with extending the furbaby's stay at "camp", and no problems at all with our ME reservation and Pop Century reservation. It's working out very well right now and I'm taking that as a good sign. :goodvibes

We don't ever have an itinerary, but I promised to post our loose plans. So, here they are!

Thursday 2/11: leave for Hartford between 12 and 2 PM in order to beat the traffic. We will probably stop somewhere along the way to eat, and/or stop somewhere in Hartford for dinner. We're staying at a Holiday Inn Express just a mile away from the airport. I'll have my bottle of Advil PM at the ready for me and whoever else may need it (like my mom and Kailyn.) It will be an early bedtime for all of us.

Friday 2/12: DEPARTURE DAY! I'm not 100% sure when we'll leave, but I'll probably be up at 4:30 AM or so to take a quick shower and get all my stuff in order. Flight is at 6:50 AM, and lands in Orlando around 10 AM. From there, we will take the fake monorail over to the ME check-in, and hop on the ME to Pop Century. :hippie: I'm guessing we'll get to Pop around 11:30 or 12. We're staying preferred, so I'm really excited to see where we'll be. We have two ADRs this day -- Le Cellier at 4:30 and Rose & Crown at 6:45. I'm not sure which one we'll keep, if we end up keeping one. We love the food court at Pop, so we'll probably end up grabbing something from there and then heading out. Chances are we'll end up at Epcot this night, because there are EMH from 9 PM until midnight.

Saturday 2/13: We'll probably sleep in this day -- no waking up early. This is the day we dine with the stepsisters at 1900 PF at 4:30! I am so excited for this ADR. DHS has morning EMH this day, so we'll probably avoid that park and head to AK or Epcot. MK is open until 1 AM this night, but we have the KTTK early the next morning.

Sunday 2/14: This is the day of the KTTK tour! I am so excited for this. That will take up most of the afternoon, and afterwards, we're most likely going back to Pop to nap, because this is the night that MK is open for EMH until 3 AM, and my mom and I are dying to stay really late. We actually have two ADRs scheduled for this day -- Kona at 5:05 PM and Tony's at 8:50 PM. If we keep one of these ADRs, it will be Tony's. We'll be trying to stay at MK late, and eating at Tony's will kill some time and keep us full and happy. I am really, really excited for this day because we're basically spending the whole day at MK. :cloud9: MeMom's son, Trent, is going to be in MK in the morning and AK at night, so if possible, we are going to meet up.

Monday 2/15: Sleeping in, obviously. I doubt we'll be going back to MK. If we go to a park, it would be Epcot, because we have a 2:30 ADR at Chefs de France. Not sure if we are keeping this. My mom also made a 9:50 PM ADR at Crystal Palace. Again, not sure if we are keeping this. DHS has EMH from 9 PM - 12 AM, so I'm really hoping that we can do this.

Tuesday 2/16: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAILYN! :bday: This is going to be her day -- we'll do whatever she wants, which could be anything. She is a very relaxed person and will probably just say, "I don't care" when we ask where she wants to go, and go with any ideas that are thrown out. We have a 5:05 PM ADR at Chef Mickey's, because this is her favorite place and we've gone there for all her Disney birthdays. If we end up at MK afterwards, I'm hoping to meet up with Christine, Tink9721, and her mom. This would normally be our last night, so I'm really excited that we get to have Kailyn's birthday without that sense of dread hanging over us.

Wednesday 2/17: Probably DHS in the afternoon, and AK at night for the nighttime EMH -- hopefully meeting up with Christine and her mom so Christine and I can go visit the yeti. (where is there a yeti smiley?) My mom made an ADR at 50's PTC at 3:00, which I am really excited for! I'm sure my dad will get into some kind of trouble while we're there.

Thursday 2/18: The last day. :( Not sure where we'll end up -- probably visiting anything we missed. Just hanging out and taking it all in.

I'm sorry I can't give you guys a more definite schedule -- like I said, we basically just take it day-by-day. I'm going to be texting Katie a lot and sending her pictures, so if she can get on, she will be able to tell you where I am. I'll also be sending Christine pictures to get her through until she leaves. I'll also be sending pictures to Facebook via my phone, so anyone who is my friend on there will be able to see those. Between Katie, Christine, and Facebook, chances are you guys will know exactly where I am at any given time. :rotfl:

Now I get to say again...TWO DAYS! :woohoo:

Just the opposite. I may have written it wrong. They are going to AK in the morning and MK at night. It might work for them to just meet you on the porch at Tony's just before your ADR time. I'll mention it to him. I would be both happy and incredibly green with envy to see you all in a picture maybe with the 'tipping his hat' Goofy or just sitting in the rockers or whatever!

I hope you guys get that meet with the Yeti! :cool1:

That works out very well! His number is in my phone -- had to do it before we leave because I didn't want to forget.

I hope so, too! Christine said it looks like she and her mom will be at AK that night, so I'm really hoping. It would probably be Kailyn, my dad, Christine and I riding -- it would make for an awesome DIS meet n' ride!

Hi, I'm joining in! :) A month ago who would have thought snow would throw a wrench in your Disney plans? Schools are closed in the city today but we didn't even get the predicted foot here...6-8 inches at most. Anyway, I'm sure everything will work out , you're going to have a great time! :goodvibes
