P.S. I have to appologize to those of you who thought the preview for "The Unborn" (I think that's it) was scary.

Honestly, I pishaw'ed you guys and chuckled at your lack of ability to stomach a mere preview

THEN I SAW IT!



Wholley all that is holy! That crap was REEDICULOUSLY scary! The first few seconds I was like.. ohhh.. hmm.. this looks interesting. Maybe a story I could see like, The Ring.. with a plot. Then it kept going and goose bumps spread across my body like wildfire. Then they grew bigger and bigger until I swear to you, I thought that my goosebumps were about to EXPLODE!

It hurt!

MY GOODNESS that was harsh! WOW.

Then I had to chuckle at myself as I thought about all you guys who hated it. MAN YOU WERE RIGHT! I was definitely the only one (and there were MANY of us going solo to the matinee today) laughing.

Everything you are about to see was in walking distance-except the house it was a few blocks away

Ok, so first we arrive at Bella's new coastal home (the author says she looked up which place had the greatest number of overcast days or most rain or something and lucky FORKS popped up on Google.).

My DH refused to go up the hill to the house to take my picture. I had heard from locals while in downtown that it was ok to do this as long as I kept my distance from the driveway/home. They had a sign on the tree out front but I didn't want to get close enough to read it and I pretty much already knew what it said.

This is the shop where Bella, Jessica, and Angela go to find a dress in Port Angeles (Also in St Helens). Bella sits in this window when she first meets the guys who will harrass her later. (foreshadowing in my own TR!)

The inside was cute, I could recognize some things.. or at least I thought I did

It was Sunday and the shop was closed so I didn't mind peering in the window with my camera. This is where I met the "local" who told me how to find the house. He was very sweet.

When I was there I recognized a pretty building. I didn't take a pic of it though cause I couldn't remember if it was in the movie or not. It turns out that it's the backdrop when Bella is sitting in the window of the dress shop

But Bella isn't interested in dresses..she wants to go find out more about legends and beasty things....and then....

OK, HERE IT IS, MY PIECE DE RESISTANCE!! My crowning glory for the day.. my coup!!!!!

THE DREADED BACK ALLEYWAY!!!!

I saw the movie again today to double check if I was right about this and YEP, there they were in this very alley.

Then she sees the frat boys from ealier..she's trapped!

Me: breathy, blinking.. breath, shake my head dramatically..." No."

As I said, I wasn't sure I was in the right spot but it felt like I was walking RIGHT THROUGH the movie. This was definitely the coolest part of my trip.

Then, here comes Edward... VROOOOM VROOOM!

Oh, he's mad, alright!

Ok, ok, you get the idea. I was right there.. it was really cool. I saw the movie the first time right after having been to the Viewpoint Inn and then this time right after having been here, to this scene and places in "Forks." I can't say enough for this type of silly fun.

I had read on the internet that the restaunt where Bella and Edward have their first date did not want people coming inside disrupting business (they are not actually a restaraunt). Even though I think they were closed that day, I stayed across the street. I saw other people taking pics of it, too.

That pretty much sums up my trip to St Helens, OR (Forks and Port Angeles) and Kalama, WA (the highschool was there). Enjoy! BTW, the Carver Cafe is pretty close to me as well. Someday soon, I'll be taking a trip there to have lunch at Bella and Charlies favorite table. Blueberry (or was it blackberry?) Cobbler anybody? ​

I'm missing this movie like crazy, you guys have no idea! I keep replaying scenes in my head ALL the time. I have issues.
Hopefully I can see it again tomorrow...

I know how you feel. I can't wait to go back and see it a second time tomorrow but I have a feeling that after I see it a second time I will be jonesin' for a third.

The movie was mostly filmed in Oregon, but in the books it takes place in Forks, Washington, which is about 15-20 miles in from the coast right next to Olympic National Park. It's about an hour south of Port Angeles, which is up on the top "edge" of Washington.

Steph Meyer didn't really do her geography homework too well, herself, before she wrote the first book. She didn't visit the town until after she'd written the first book. Native Washingtonians have been scratching their heads when she has characters saying things like "Run all the way to Canada" or "we followed them to Port Angeles and swam the Sound to the other bank" or something like that... Forks is on the Olympic Peninsula, and is bordered on the north by the Straits of Juan de Fuca-- Canada consists of Vancouver Island, at that point. Also, if they chased somebody all the way across the Sound to Seattle, they'd have to first cross the mountains, swim Hood Canal, cross the Kitsap Peninsula, and THEN swim the Sound-- and they'd still come out more like in Everett.

I camped on the Queets river when I was a kid. It's mentioned in the movie as where that guy Waylon gets killed.

Anyway, one thing I love about the movie is that it all LOOKS exactly like that area. Very green and beautiful. I've lived here for 34 years and I'm used to the rain-- I love it.

I just sneaked out and saw it again, by myself, this afternoon, for the third time! I'm embarresssed! But, it was interesting-- I liked it better the second time, and then this time, I'm back to noticing how cheesy the dialogue was. Ah, well. Still love the books and the movie was cool, even though cheesy.

Yep, I was pretty proud of myself for spotting that alley. I hadn't seen it on the internet yet and I was so tensed up the movie first time I saw the movie that I hardly noticed anything except the big stuff so I had to make sure by seeing it again today. LOL

That's funny! I enjoyed your Trip Report to Forks! I had DH mapquest it for me and it's about 5 hours away. I will probably get him to take me up there at some point though.. he's good like that

I noticed in the fight scene with Alice after she smells Bella blood she says, "Carlisle, her blood!" Which could give evidence towards CP's interpretation. (Although they do make it seem like they do not realize irght away that she has been bitten.)

I'm going to see the movie again today, whether I see the matinee or evening will depend my nap, lol.

I did have a comment/question about the ending, it is in white so as not to spoil for somebody who hasn't seen it, so highlight to read it.

I thought the same exact thing! Wouldn't Edward or Alice notice Victoria there? Wouldn't she not be able to control herself around all those humans? I was a bit confused by it, but I'm sure there did it to up the ante for the next movie and to end this one with a bang, if you will.

okay so did anybody see victoria at the beginning when bella and edward walk in to the hotel(casino prom) she is by the roulette wheel with her back facing everyone i immediately saw that and got chills ..
I also think that they did keep victoria for that reason to let you know that she is pissed and she will get her revenge .. But yes i agree Edward would be able to feel victoria there but maybe it was not as strong because Alice was not around ... who knows ...

Thanks! The places I went to are pretty easy to find. You can Google Kalama High School and then the places in St Helens are 1st st and 6th st downtown. The Carver Cafe is near Damascus, OR and you can get their address easily as the real name of it is, "Carver Cafe".

If you go to the real Forks it looks like if you go to the Chamber of Commerce (Great TR, avalon!) they will take care of you!

And, if you need anymore help when you come this way, give me a holler.

And, go enjoy your Edward... why not.

Well, Dh caved and went with me to go see the movie tonight. What a guy! He deserves husband-of-the-year.

I actually felt bad for him throughout the movie. However, he trooped through and didn't fall asleep or anything. Ast the end I looked at him sympathetically, and he smiled and said "It wasn't that bad."

Ummm...yeah honey. It was.

It was just awful. At least Hardwick and company managed to capture the snail's pace essence of the book. I can't remember a film that had such pacing problems. It was mind achingly SLllllllllllooooooooooooow....but then again that was a huge issue I had with the book, so at least the film was accurate!

I didn't hate Stewart's acting. I actually thought the worst actor was the chick playing Alice. It was like they raided the local city college's "acting" program for the cast. She was wooden.

Best actors was the Forks High "scooby-gang" (Mike, Jessica, Angela, Eric). I found them the most real and relatable.

Edward...Rob...I just don't know. Part of the time I was thinking, sure...that's Edward. And then other times he was just wrong, all wrong. Creepy, UGLY. Yup I said it...beautiful my patoot. He's NOT mind blowingly beautiful.

They left out lots of important stuff that furthered the relationship between he and Bella and focused on the shout-outs to the book (the apple in the hand, ordering mushroon ravioli, hey there's the author) and nothing at all on relationship development.

Voice over??? REALLY? THE hallmark of the poorly written and directed script? THAT'S how you're gonna do it?? I guess they are of the impression that their audience is stupid and needs to be told what's going on.

The Port Angeles scene should've been paramount to the whole film and it was like 5 minutes long. totally glossed over.

The baseball scene was just eye candy, but at least it was SOMETHING. It jostled the sleeping film awake for a few moments. That and the fight at the end in the ballet studio.

BAsically it was 2 hours of Stewart looking like she was about to cry and blinking a lot, and stammering. So disappointed. I was hoping I would only be let down by the special effects (which weren't that bad actually. The sparkling was actually too toned down for my taste. In my head, dude was BLINGING).

I don't think I can stomach New Moon: The Movie. That book was even slower. AND we didn't even get Harry Potter attached!! I felt robbed.

Not cool.
