TSA Pre-Check with family

So my wife and I went to the enrollment center on Friday May 27th. I had my KTN on Sunday May 29th and she had hers on Monday May 30th. I was pretty impressed with how fast it was. When I went to call Southwest about adding our middle names to our reservation they asked for our KTN numbers (which I didn't have at the time). You can add the KTN numbers right through southwest.com though. What I did was click the link in the southwest confirmation email to add a rapid rewards number for my wife. Then on the top of the screen there is a link to add secure travel information. This is where you can add the KTN numbers.

Yes - but when you have a flight booked the info won't carry over onto the existing flight on SWA - you did need to call and have them add the KTN to the flight you already booked.

For those following along if you haven't booked flights you can simply update your FF info online and add your KTN and your set going forward. If you have flights with SWA booked prior to obtaining the KTN you do have to call SWA to add the info to existing flights.
This was my experience with SWA, but I did not have to call for existing flights with AA or Jet Blue !

Correct, the same for me too. I had SW flights booked and while I had no problem adding the KTN to my SW profile, I had to call to get an agent to add it to my booked flights. I had no problem adding to both my booked flights and profile on both Jetblue and United.

I did check my status online more or less daily from my enrollment interview. Still, it took the full eight days for approval and the KTN to be issued. I had hoped for faster since most posters here seldom report more than a 2-day wait for the KTN, but oh well. It didn't really matter since my trip isn't until August.

Update: I spoke with Southwest over the phone and the agent added the KTN to my pre-existing itinerary with no problem. Also was able to add missing middle name and DOB to my Southwest online account. The agent was a little surprised (as I had been) to see those missing. She asked when I set up the account, which I couldn't remember due to its being too long ago, but apparently that did not matter since she added those in right away. Now it's a waiting game to see if I actually get Precheck for my August trip.

Question for everybody. When we picked our enrollment center, the TSA site said that the company providing the service was IdentoGo. However the address listed on the TSA site does not show as a location on the IdentoGo website. Did anyone else have to visit an IdentoGo site?

I just went to an IdentoGo location yesterday. It was in a random office building. It looked like they had one agent in one small office. When I pulled up, I double checked my GPS and the address. I thought I was in the wrong place.

Everything went smoothly and I just checked the website and got my number this morning.

I finally got my daughter and soninlaw to sign up yesterday. Shocked that the wait for an appointment is 6 weeks out. She's going to do a walk in now. Kids just don't listen. We flew with them in May out of BWI. We took the grandkids with us through prechek and we waited for them for a few minutes, did the bathroom breaks, went to McD and ordered lunch, ate the lunch and finally the big kids showed up. And sadly the line wasn't very long....maybe about 30 people, but only ONE TSA agent and one xray booth open. Yes, we too went to IdentoGo and was hard to find in the tiny mountain town we went to. But we did this over a year ago. Best $$ we've spent. Are are still at 100% after 10 flights now. BUt always out of BWI, IAD, DCD and MCO. We only fly Jetblue, SW and United.

There was actually a piece in the New York Times this week that referenced the various waiting times for an enrollment interview depending on location. Some cities are in bad shape, with the earliest appointment weeks or months away. Interestingly, the article mentioned the very office that I went to, in Belleville MI, which I think had appointment times starting days from online signup. Fortunately I had already read up here on Precheck, so I wasn't fooled when I pulled up to the H&R Block office. Did have to wait 8 days for my KTN, but got it applied to my pre-existing Southwest itinerary with no problems.

Appointments for pre-check seem to be easy to get. Appointments for Global Entry seems to be 3-4 months out.

I applied for Global Entry and was given conditional approval a couple weeks ago and my local office had plenty of appointmentsm, even for the week I got approval. As it is my appointment is this Friday since I already had that day off.

Just an update....daughter and husband did a walk in yesterday morning. It said it opened at 9:00AM, so they got there then. There were 10 names in front of them, so they were thinking it opened earlier. By 9:45AM, they were both done with their meeting/finger printing and were on their way home.....wow.....This morning, less than 24 hours, my son in law already has his number. Just added to all his profiles and made sure it was on his upcoming flights....my daughter didn't get hers yet. I was a little surprised by how fast they got in and out with a walkin. Also surprised that when I updated the Jetblue profile, then went to manage flights, the KTN was already added to both flights, so I didn't have to do that.

UPDATE: Seems my daughter didn't have to wait long. She too had her number by lunch time today. So just a little over 24 hours after her interview/finger printing visit.
