I have read so many threads I think I need my own questions answered.
Thanks in advance for all the insight...Here I go!

I am thinking of this senerio and want to make sure it works.
We have DS9 & DS4. We anticipate making at least 5 trips in the next 10 yrs (every other year), but I can see us doing more ....

If we buy from Disney 160 points BLT amd add on 25-50 AKV. having the same UY of February (we work/travel around school breaks mostly) Booking at 11 months ahead is not really an issue at this time, we live in a seasonal location and have to travel when school is out.

Can we book either resort at the 11 month mark because we own at both resorts, or would we need enough points in each respective account to do so. Can we transfer points from one account to the other in order to book the resort we want at 11 months or do we need to wait for 7?

By banking, borrowing and hopefully transfering points I think I can see the best possible senerios for our family (excell has become a very good friend of mine). My concern is that if we bank & borrow at BLT, it is a non issue because we will have enough for a 1bdrm MKV, but we will not have enough in the AKV account to do much with especially at the 11 month mark.

My DH knows that I am in hot pusuit of the best possible course to take and he knows that since it has become a goal of mine, its just a matter of time before we buy and heck if we are planning to treavel next FEB why not take the money we would spend and use it for a downpayment!?!

Thanks everyone who participates in these threads I have learned sooo much!:yay::surfweb::woohoo:

You need enough points at each resort to book at 11 months. You can combine them at 7. Transfered points retain their home resort status and UY.

OK that answers it. I think with all I've read, that I would prefer to buy at BLT because it is smaller and then book a reservation and change it at the 7 month mark, but I would be happy almost anywhere anyway!
THe answer is so simple and my question felt so long winded!
THANKS!!!

I would recommend buying all of your points at either BLT or AKV because you won't be able to use AK points to book at BLT until the 7 month mark (or vice versa - you won't be able to use your 160 BLT points to book at AK until 7 months out). So, for example, you could use your 160 points to book at BLT, but would have to wait until 7 months to use your 25 AKV points at BLT. Does that make sense?

If it were me, I would just buy 185 at BLT (lower maintenace fees) and just wait until the 7 month mark if you ever want to stay at AKV. Either way, best of luck to you - it's such an exciting time! :goodvibes

It depends on what's important to you. Do you want a chance at concierge? IS MK view important. If they're still doing the 100 pt min at AKV, you could do that and then add on say 100-110 points at BLT. The EOY plan does make owning smaller packages at two different resorts more of an issue unless you don't mind a split stay at least part of the time.

:earsboy:What does EOY stand for? I get most of the abreviations but I am stuck for this one.
I guess we would have to think about the most important.
1.Time frame BLT has longest running contract. I think my kids and grandkids someday will like this perk
2. If I am willing to spend this kind of money and it is a major commitment..I think I want better accomodations than paying OOP. So view is something that I would want. Fireworks from my own balcony....great. Animals over coffee, amazing. Walking to a park in 10 minutes or less-fabulous, (in some resorts it takes yo that long to get to the front desk!)
Considering that we have never stayed in either location, Im not sure what is more important.
3. The one thing I do know for sure is that if we plan to travel to Disney on a semi regular basis( which I'm pretty sure we want), we should take the plunge, we just need to figure out which pool we want to hang out by.:earsboy:

EOY is Every Other Year (I believe!). I have heard that some members buy an equal amount at each resort and then end up alternating the resorts each trip so they are not doing split stays each time. With banking and borrowing this can be accomplished.

I do think if seeing the MK fireworks would be important, then owning at BLT to book at 11 months will be important. I am a BLT fan and only bought in this year once BLT was a reality since MK is my favorite parkk and I love to walk to/from it. I almost always stayed at the Contemporary and knew that I would only be happy there so that is where I bought.

My plan is to do split stays while I try out some of the other resorts, but most of the week will be at BLT.

Good luck with your decision!
