The Telegraph recently posted an article listing the 30 biggest conspiracy theories of all time.

The conspiracies that they listed are:

1) 9/11 was an inside job or that the US knew and allowed it.
2) The Kennedy assassination was not just Oswald.
3) A extraterrestrial crashed in Roswell in 1947.
4) NASA faked the moon landings.
5) The Illuminati and the New World Order
6) Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a child.
7) Diana was murdered.
8) Elvis faked his death.
9) Operation Northwoods.
10) MK-Ultra - CIA mind control.
11) North American Union
12) Someone else wrote Shakespeare's plays.
13) The disappearance of Shergar.
14) Paul McCartney died in 1966.
15) July 7, 2005 Tube Bombings - Done by Brits.
16) Russia bombed the Moscow Apartments in 1999.
17) UN patrols with Black Helicopters.
18) Harold Wilson was a Soviet Agent.
19) The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
20) The oil industry is hiding huge amounts of oil to keep prices high.
21) Pearl Harbor was allowed to happen by a knowing US.
22) The Philadelphia Experiment.
23) Pan Am Flight 103 was downed with CIA involvment
24) Fluoridation continues for reasons other than dental health.
25) India caused the 2004 Tsunami with nukes.

Since there had been several prior attacks, including one on the World trade Center, it's easy to say they knew "something" was coming. Just not something specific.

The history channel is just the latest to debunk that conspiracy theory

3) A extraterrestrial crashed in Roswell in 1947.--agree

The problem with this and virtually any other government-related conspiracy theory is that you expect the government, composed of two competing political parties that are continually at war with each other and go out of their way to either embarrass the other side or build their side up, to keep something like that a secret.

5) The Illuminati and the New World Order--agree

Can you say tinfoil hat?

6) Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a child.--agree

Using a work of fiction to corroborate your bias against a particular religion isn't pretty.

7) Diana was murdered.--agree

File this under the same explanation about governments as the Roswell, Kennedy, whatever government-related conspiracy theories.

9) Operation Northwoods.--Don't know what this is about

It was a plan to stage terror attacks on American citizens and blame it on the Cuban government so we could then invade cuba. This is true and a validation of the "you can't keep a secret in government" answers above.

Well if you produce and distribute Fluoride you'd have millions of reasons Some scientists oppose mass medication for reasons such as:

There are other ways of delivering fluoride besides the water supply;
Fluoride does not need to be swallowed to prevent tooth decay;
Tooth decay has dropped at the same rate in countries with, and without, water fluoridation;
People are now receiving fluoride from many other sources besides the water supply;
Studies indicate fluoride’s potential to cause a wide range of adverse, systemic effects

As is anyone who believes everything the government and media assures them is true. Sorry, there is a place for conspiracy theorists, even if some of them are a bit crazy.

How is this a conspiracy? He was a highly valued stud horse who was kidnapped by people who knew his value and, very likely, ended up as glue. Now you want a real racehorse conspiracy theory, take a look at the story of the great Australian hero Phar Lap.

Also, what about the conspiracy theories behind Flight 900 (I think). The one out of New York they thought was shot down with a rocket. That should be on here somewhere.

I recently had a conversation with a college student who wholeheartedly believes that the powers that be instrumented the attack. She seemed to be pretty intelligent, so I was surprised to hear that she believes this.

A lot of the "facts" in the Dan Brown books are pulled out of his imagination, but I had heard stuff about this long before "The DaVince Code". I seem to recall some of the info found in the Dead Sea Scrolls pointing this way, before the Pope had them declared heresey.
