This is the current radar. I live about ten miles NW of WDW and it has been intermittently cloudy, breezy, and lightly raining.

It’s interesting because a bunch of flights on AA have already been cancelled out of Philly this morning. I moved my flight from tomorrow morning to tomorrow evening and hoping things are fine by then.

Our DD21’s AA flight out of Philadelphia was canceled this morning too. We couldn’t get a flight tomorrow so she moved to later in the week. It took all morning to move flights, resort, tickets, Lightening Lanes, etc.

Now TD Debbie is going to be a strong Category 1 Hurricane by 8 PM and hit the Great Bend area of Florida early Monday morning. And move along the Eastern Coast thru North Carolina.

rain made for a productive day at HS today. At 7pm rode Rise with a 10(!!) minute wait, then walked on Smugglers, then another 15(!!!) for Slinky.
And because there was an influx of new LL availability at around 4ish for immediate returns, everything was pretty easy! At the end of the day I was getting LL for Alien swirling saucers since we’d done everything else twice
Would highly recommend going in the rain!! They didn’t even cancel Fantasmic.

We are currently staying at Bay Lake Tower and will be here for two more nights. It’s raining steadily right now and probably will all day. This was our planned rest day, and I think the weather will be better tomorrow for our Hollywood Studios day. It did stop raining last night for the Magic Kingdom fireworks which we watched from our balcony.

All of the morning and afternoon flights to Orlando out of Philly on AA have been canceled. Hoping my evening flight leaves but I’m starting to feel super depressed my vacation isn’t happening.

Airlines do a much better job of pro-actively cancelling flights when significant weather events are expected. Planes need to avoid wind shear so regardless of whether it is a tropical storm/depression/hurricane, there will still be significant wind. Airlines also don't want planes to get stranded somewhere and then not able to depart which can disrupt a significant part of the country when many are flying into/out of various hub cities.

DD21's flight out of Philly was canceled yesterday. She's now supposed to fly out Saturday morning. I hope she gets to go! She was super disappointed that she had to reschedule her trip.

I hope things work out for your daughter. It must be very frustrating. PHL is our home airport and there’s quite a bit of local coverage on flight cancellations there (not just on AA, but PHL is one of their hubs, so more focus on them). We have a WDW trip planned for mid-September (in tandem with a separate family event) and I know we’re in a tricky time for these types of storms.
