Tron Moving to Standby on Monday 9/9

One reason I never bothered with the 1p VQ for it. That outdoor section is the pits. Being speedy enough to get one of the first AM groups is the only way I’ve done it, barring the EEH queue.

We go in 2 weeks and I am very curious to see the domino effects this will have on wait times elsewhere in MK and crowd flow esp. during EE. Obviously September data should be taken with a grain of salt given how relatively quiet it is, but how much this changes strategy will be interesting to see.
Maybe ill finally be able to ride 7D at EE? Well either way i get to see it in action on Tuesday.

This is pretty much going to be the way to do it if you don’t want to pay IMO. Though I’m very curious to see how this changes the Early Entry meta. I’m still inclined to do Tomorrowland over the Mine Train shuffle over in FL but still stick with hitting Space first. (We will honestly just pay for Tron, my partner can’t ride it anyway for health reasons.) Mine Train gets hit so hard at EE because it’s a family coaster without much height requirement, so I don’t think everyone will shift over to rope dropping Tron tbh. But I think the days of chill TL rope drop are over come Monday.

Oh Disney. Just when I had our plans settled, they throw me another curve ball 2 weeks before...
Same! Leave in 12 days! Was there a VQ for evening extra magic hours? I can't remember. We'll have one MK late night before it changes to DHS.

as a VQ superstar, this is a disappointment, haha.

i imagine this has got to lighten up fantasyland at early RD, but space mountain waits will increase faster than before with people coming off tron.

yes, there was an evening hours VQ for tron, but that still took like 45 minutes anyway.

I figured out early on the trick to not getting stuck like that was being fast enough to snag one of the early groups. The higher your number the more people you have to cycle through and that’s what makes the physical line so long. The difference between our first time at EEH when I had a 25 min Tron wait and the subsequent ones when I got the speed method down were significant. I walked right on in the first batch called and was able to get a lot more done.

I get the disappointment though, I love VQs from a selfish standpoint because I’m a gamer and I’ve never missed one going all the way back to Rise, and I have it down to a science where I’m pretty much always a single digit BG. But I do understand that they’re a huge pain point for the average normie guest, so in that respect it’s probably for the best.

The average guest would be able to get A VQ either at 7 am or 1pm drop. Now the average person will skip the attraction because they can't or won't wait 3plus hours for that....

The average guest had no idea how to work the VQ if they even knew it existed. We’ve had this argument before lol. Every single time I’ve gone to MK since Tron opened I have overheard clueless guests struggling to do it, and I end up walking them through the process. One time I even did it while riding small world lol. The folks who roll up to MK to get their tickets the day of, which is a huge swath of guests, can not and do not want to be bothered with any of that. Even the people who at least know enough to go on Facebook to ask for advice are constantly complaining about how they can’t get a VQ for this or that, and there is a sizeable demographic who doesn’t care if a line is long if they can just get in it. And it’s consistently been one of the biggest complaints on CSAT surveys, that is something that has been discussed frequently.

I'm looking forward to being able to get multiple rides in 1 day now. There have been some slower days later at night where there were multiple empty rows on the trains but because of the virtual queue, you still can't get back in line.

I wish they'd drop it from Guardians. Maybe when the new Test Track opens...

It's gonna be a nightmare, FOP level wait times when it opened. 3- 4 hours, the difference is that people will be lining outside the building....
Doubt it. Tons of people have already ridden and the super motivated can by SPLL. Neither of those things happened when FOP opened. I think it will take over from 7DMT as the most popular ride but that times will settle out around 1.5-2 hours.

Really interested to see what it does to rope drop. Tron was a great rope drop if you scored a VQ but now that anyone can go early in the morning… I definitely expect this to ease pressure on 7DMT but the question is by how much? 🤔

I mean, to this day FOP still gets 3 hours or more waiting depending on the day.

I expect it to be just like FOP was when it first opened. 3+ hour waits during the day dropping to less than 20 minutes close to closing time. This is good news.

What you're describing might not be the average guest, that's the average middle-aged park goer who has been to WDW at least once or twice. This change is to appeal first-timers who haven't even heard the term Virtual Queue and older people who dislike having to use their phones for anything.

I can understand for first timers, but I don't think that will appeal to older people. I don't see many older people standing in a line for 3 plus hours for one attraction only. At least that is my experience with attractions like FOP, Rise, etc. anyways, let's see what happens.

Glad to hear. Curious what the waits will be like. I like it but way too short of a ride, and I know others feel the same. Maybe it won’t be a horrible wait.

It is a very short ride. I wonder if that will make the wait times not so exorbitant? Loading and running and unloading doesn't take too long?

I don't mean like people in their 70's or 80's but more like 50's or 60's who had no shot with a VQ, but might be willing to tough it out in a standby line.
I expect the line to be more like 2+ hours on a consistent basis with spikes up to 3hrs but those first few weeks will probably be pretty crazy.
