Before we went on our early Christmas trip at the end of November, I worried about what would happen if I was suffering really badly with morning sickness! However it wasn't the morning sickness that decimated our trip - it was gastroentoritus! Yes the common tummy bug!

Even now I am unable to look at our photo's because i feel so sad and disappointed about our trip.

We went for 9 days, taking my sister for her 1st holiday in 2 years. We had been looking forward to it so much.

We had 1.5 days before dh started throwing up and rushing to the toilet... he got better fairly quickly although I had never seen anyone be so violently sick! Due to his resillience we made it to our MVMCP the following evening, where it rained most of the evening and several things got cancelled...

Then the next day my dsis went down with it, and she was so ill we had to call a doctor out - twice, and she never really got fully better before going home.

I went down with a mild version 48 hours later... and due to the pregnancy I really struggled to get back to eating properly.

That left us with a day and a half in the parks after we'd all stopped being ill... we struggled around AK for half a day, and spent 2 hours in the MK on our last day...

Dh and I went into the parks for part days will my d sis was ill, but it's not the same when you are worrying about how ill someone is going to be when you get back.. or if you are about to go down with it too...

It was so disappointing... :sad1:

Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Did you get back to wanting to go on a holiday again? At the moment the thought of going away again terrifies me... being a 9 hour flight away from home and being really unwell, is just so horrible!

Sorry to anyone who might have picked it up from us... (we have some small comfort that at least we're not the only ones to have it... the news today says that 100 thousand people in the UK are known to have had it over the last couple of months...)

Sorry also for the rant... but just needed to share

Sorry you were sick while you were at WDW. I got food poisoning when I was 4 months pregnant.

The gastroentoritus seems to hit early spring in the U.S., but it can happen any time.

Maybe plan a trip again when your baby is a year old.

So sorry to hear that your family got sick during your trip! Hopefully you can plan a "do over" trip after the baby is born (like OhMari suggested)

DH & I went during the first week of December and he started feeling ill after our breakfast at the Crystal Palace. He was not sure if it was food poisoning or something else. The only thing that he ate that I did not, was the fruit & bacon. Thankfully he recovered in about a day & a half, and he too was able to make it through MVMCP.

I had a kidney stone episode while at WDW. I was lucky that it happened on the next to the last day of our trip. Ended up in the emergency room on our travel day back. We drove, and what is normally a 16 hour drive took us 21 hours due to my frequent bathroom stops. I so sorry that you got sick, and that it happened at the beginning of your vacation.

Had a bad August trip. Whole family, 13 of us 7 grand kids age from 18 to 2. Trip was planned in Nov 2006 our oldest son age 37 died Dec 2006. Thought about canceling the trip. We waited. Jan 2 found out I had Breast cancer we waited on the trip. Youngest son said Mom lets go never know what is next. We went. I was half ways though chemo. Not a good trip for me. I got to know the sofa in fromnt of the TV way to well. Did make the dinners with the family in a wheelchair. Ended up in the hospital when we got back home. A lot of money spent and I missed most of it. The kids did manage to have a great time and even grandpa who had to pick up my slack admitted it was something he should have done years ago. DH is not a Disney fan he usually is on a hunting trip and I go to Disney.
