Traveling Turkeys 2010

Another great weekend comes to an end... Had my own piece of paradise- went to a Jimmy Buffet concert. Can't wait for summer to get here- the heat has set in, now we just need the time to be able to jump in the pool. Only 2 more weeks of school left for us. Can't believe I won't have one in elementary school anymore...

I am thinking of visiting Turkey this year.I have see all the travel maps of it.I heard thatIn 2010 Value for money is going to be the key for most sun seekers - Travel firms are expecting people to pack their bags and head for Turkey and Egypt.

The busy summer has arrived. Just got back from a wedding in Ohio this weekend and next weekend we're off to Plano, TX to visit some friends. The warm weather is finally here as well this week and hopefully with very little rain so all the little ones can get outside :goodvibes

Hi all
I've not posted in a while. Sadly, we are no longer going on the Turkey cruise this year. So please remove us from the FE list. Happily, we are going on the Wonder this August and the Dream next March 2011. So I'm going to find my new cruise buddies now. Have fun.
Debbie

Hope you don't melt Texas! It has been very hot! Girls have been keeping me busy- only 31/2 days left of school!

Clubfig4- we will miss you! Have fun on your new cruises!

Back from Texas and we didn't melt :thumbsup2
I was constantly worried the LO was too hot though. When we got to our friends house his dad asked what we usually keep the thermostat at and I said 75. He goes, "oh so you like it pretty cool." I couldn't believe it...because everyone around here complains that our house is way too hot. Of course I'm not totally convinced that our theremostat works properly anyway.

We're still waiting for Southwest to open up for November. We have a lot of flights to book and they're not helping us by not releasing booking!

Welcome back Namsupak!

You lucked out - the weather was not nearly as hot in the Dallas area as they had been forecasting. Somehow, we are supposed to feel grateful when the high is only 98 instead of 103!
:cool1:

The girls are out of school for the summer but it seems things are busier than when they were in class! We went ahead and made our air reservations on American. We love Southwest - especially the no baggage fee policy - but leaving from Dallas we would have at least one plane change.

Also made resi at the Hyatt in Orlando for Friday night before the cruise. Not the cheapest room in Orlando but the conveniece on Saturday morning is hard to beat.

The cruise seems more real with those details locked down. Now for the pesky matter of the balance due to DCL...:thumbsup2

As we move through the summer, we are hoping this board gets a little more chatty and we can firm up the FE participants and whatever else anyone wants to do. Just checked the meet threads for the cruises before and after this one and we are a quiet bunch. :confused3

Looking forward to a great summer!

Hello to All.

This will be our 5th Disney Cruise since 2001. Told the hubby that for MY
25th wedding anniversary, we're going on the 2010 Turkey Cruise. Been looking on e-bay for the white mouse ears w/the veil and the black ears w/the top had to renew our vows. Hubbby is not nearly as excited about all of this as I am. And the 13 year old son, isn't too crazy about the black mouse ears w/the propeller, either. We'll be the room with the fancy fish extender and door decorations with silver 25 hearts all over it.

Can't wait.

Welcome aboard! So excited to have a new face join the thread. :thumbsup2 I have a website with the cruise info- I will be working on updating it now that it is summer and I have more time. PM me your info and I will add you to our list. I am also setting up a FE list so I can add you to that list as well.

Welcome aboard!!! So exciting to see more people joining the cruise. :goodvibes

We also have my MIL and SIL that decided today to book the Thanksgiving cruise as well! They are doing a 12 gty though so we're not sure what room number yet.

I just KNEW Amy couldn't stand it any longer. So glad they are joining us!

Oh yeah. I totally forgot to post their names. My SIL is Amy and my MIL is Jib.

And guess what everybody... big milestone this summer. Lorelei is officially walking!!! She started walking on Wednesday so now the real fun is beginning. We're also doing babysplash on Saturdays so she is getting ready to splash around Castaway Cay and the rest of the Carribean :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!

Way to go Lorelei! :cool1:

Glad to see our happy group growing!

DD-14 (Margaret) is at Girl Scout camp this week. Nothing like a week in high 90-degree temps without air conditioning or fans to make a kid appreciate the comforts of home! :sunny:

Sad to learn that the Golden Mickeys is no longer on the Magic. The reviews on the replacement show (Villians Tonight) are mixed. We liked the hoopla before the Golden Mickeys - the papparazi red carpet walk and the interview with the kids.

Looking forward to seeing Toy Story 3 this weekend.popcorn::

Hi everyone. Decided it was time to re-introduce myself and start to get active on this board. We had an amazing week at the Beach Club Villas over Easter and are now shifting over to getting excited about our Thanksgiving cruise. We booked this cruise way back in the fall of 2008 when the schedule was announced. It seemed so far away at the time. Now we are under 6 mos.

I will be cruising with DH and our DS(7) and DD (who will have just turned 6 in Nov.). This will be their first cruise ever and the second for DH and me. We went on Celebrity to Alaska in 2008. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and are Disney freaks (including the kids).

We are pulling out our planning books and starting to get really excited for the cruise. I can't wait for my DS to board the ship for the first time. He is so obsessed with cruise ships - Loves the Suite Life, goes wild whenever he sees one on San Francisco Bay, and has been really obsessed with the Titantic for about 8 months now. We have had to assure him that ship building has improved quite a bit since then.

Any good ideas for excursions with kids that age?

I know that there are some Turkey veterans on this board. Is Thanksgiving dinner and traditional Thanksgiving meal? I am happy to have a year off from cooking but don't want to miss all my favorite foods.

Yay - time to really start the countdown.

Hilary

After doing the Magic the past 6 Thanksgivings and being part of the Turkey Day Gang, we opted to take the Wonder instead due to school obligations for our now middle-school aged son....also many of the active posters on this thread from years past will instead be taking the Dream together in August 2011. So good luck with this thread and cruise, and who knows, we may see both ships at Castaway Cay...it has happened before...

Welcome back Hilary!

We made it to page 10... I can't believe it :banana::banana:

It's so exciting to think that we're getting closer each day. We're in the midst of planning Lorelei's first birthday party! The theme is a day at the beach...how appropriate to get in the spirit for our cruise a few months after that. :)

Welcome back Hilary! And it was great to hear from you Icemanpad- cruised with you in 2008.
Things are starting to heat up now! Literally for me- another 100 degree day for us here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The official start of summer didn't let us down-we are project to be in the 100's for awhile. The pool feels like a warm bath tub!:rotfl:
At least I can stay cool inside and dream about cool tropical breezes!

Alas, we are bidding you all farewell and will not be taking the Turkey cruise. We've decided to cruise with my sister and her family on the 5 night Wonder in August and the 7 night Mexican Riveira (is that spelled right or is it "I" before "E"?) cruise for Spring Break 2011. Our soon to be freshman in HS doesn't get the entire week of TG off this year and that made things a little hard, plus we can take the two cruises (August in a 12 and Spring Break in a 5-we always go economy so we've never had a balcony room) for less than the Turkey cruise.

I hope you all enjoy the holiday on the Magic. We'll be thinking of you!

Suz
