Traveling Turkeys 2010

Alright 100 posts! :banana::banana::banana:

I can't imagine that there are so few of us on the cruise. With the price I figured it has to be extremely popular.

As far as the fish extender list. Is there a compiled list yet? Just wondering who was participating.

No one has raised their hands to be on the FE list except you and me. Anyone who wants to join in- please post or send me a pm. I will start up the list and put it on the website. Include your cabin number and I will add that to the list too- if you don't know where you will be staying, that is okay, I can always add that info later when we get closer to the cruise! :)

Hi All! I've been following this thread but haven't posted in awhile! Yeah--it's April--another month closer to our cruise!!

We will definitely be participating in the FE. It will be my husband and me, plus our 3-year old DD. We participated on our cruise last year and our DD had a great time helping me pass things out! Now that I know more about what kind of gifts are given (some really neat stuff last year!), I'm going to try to plan something fun!

I can't wait for our trip!!

Suzanne--I'll PM you info on the FE. Thanks for organizing!!

Welcome! Thanks for the FE info! I am getting so excited about the cruise. :cool1:

Just giving us a little bump! Everything has been so quiet on this thread.

Tracy- is this your first cruise? If you want to join the Fish Extender group then make sure to PM HerrQSmee :goodvibes

We are back in Ohio after spending several months in Hilton Head where we had the coldest winter on record. Still better than the snow here in Southern Ohio.
We were scheduled on the Celebrity cruise out of Charleston to the Western Caribbean. The 3 departures before us had a total of 1000 people infected with the Noro Virus, They brought the ship in a day early and kept it port 3 days for cleaning.
we opted to take Celebrity's offer and canceled for a full refund.
Bottom line is we are really ready for this cruise.
there will be 11 of us 6 adults and five kids 9 thru 2. It will be a fun family event. (Our second on Disney) The kids a so excited one has already picked her outfits for the cruise.
My wife and I have been on several cruises most of them on upscale lines.. Silver Sea.. Seabourn etc. and we think Disney does it as well as any of them.
We are ready! Why is November so far off?

Steve :grouphug:

I get busy for a few days and everyone gets chatty! Teach me not to check in more often! Welcome everyone! As much as I can't wait for November to get here, I am enjoying these perfect April days. We have had the best spring I can remember here in Texas- can't help but spend most days outside. Hated to hear about those storms that hit the southeast- anyone here have bad weather this weekend?

Steve- Good call on skipping the Noro Virus cruise :rotfl: I'm so jealous you spent all that time in Hilton Head instead of up here with us in the snow.

We're in for some rough showers the next few days... but at least it will be warm and it will help all the plants grow. It's been a relatively dry spring so far. Makes the wait for November a little better!

Can't wait to start planning everything! Has anyone ever done the butterfly farms? I think that Lorelei would like that. She'll only be 15 months old so I don't think she can do the longer excursions. :goodvibes

Haven't been to these locations so I need some excursion advice myself but I think the butterfly farm would be fun for her.

Just giving us a bump. Happy Friday! Suz is in WDW this week. I'm so jealous. Is it November yet? Anybody staying at the Hyatt at the airport? Maybe we could all carpool to port together. :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Things have been so hectic around here with school wrapping up in a couple of weeks that I haven't even had time to think about the cruise. I can't believe in 2 days time we will be only 6 mos away from getting onboard and sailing away to paradise! I am so looking forward to the summer when we will have more time to dream about the cruise!:cool1:

OK, I give up what is a fish extender?

Just finished helping our daughter and family move to a new home. Way too much work! A word of advice don't ever move an old swing set. Just buy a new one it took all afternoon with rusted bolts etc.....

We are wishing the cruise could start next week.. we are ready.

Some body clue me in on FE

Steve

Ok- I will give it a try to explain what FE's are. I was clueless before our last cruise- got on the DISboard and started hearing about it. I signed up and it turned out to be a fun way to spend the time before the cruise and gave my girls a mission on days at sea when they delivered their goodies.:thumbsup2

On one side of the door to your cabin, there is a metal fish at approximately eye height where the crew can clip notes and other things. Cruisers have taken the opportunity to make creative holders that hang off these fish- ie extends from the fish, fish extender (FE). They have one or more pockets to hold the treats from your fellow DISboarders. You can have personalized ones made with the family name, several people on Ebay advertise or get creative and make one yourself. I have seen all kinds including plastic bags hanging from the fish. I am reusing the one I made for the last cruise. During the cruise, you will receive an assortment of goodies in your FE if you have signed up to be part of the fun. On the last cruise, we received a large assortment of goodies- keychains, cd of favorite cruise music, notepads, candy, small trinkets for the kids, etc. I was overwhelmed by the amount. It is only limited by your imagination, time, and space available. My girls made turkey magnets for everyone's door. One of the magnets I got from is still on my fridge to remind me how much fun that cruise was!
I hope that helps. I am sure someone can explain it better than me!

Hi all! We're back from a wonderful trip to WDW. We celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary with a week long trip without our girls. It was delightful but of course we missed Katie & Bobbie

Lauren, we did the butterfly farm tour last June on our Eastern cruise. It was very boring for Bobbie who had just turned three at the time. We would probably never do it again if that gives you any guidance.

I'm not sure if we'll do the FE's this cruise or not. It was really fun, but I'm trying hard to simplify parts of my life and travel is one of the areas that I'm trying to conquer. I did very well on this last trip. The only snacks I packed were the peanut butter M&M's for the plane and our bagels/nutella for breakfast.

It was wonderfully easy to get ready for the trip, easier to pack when it was time to come home, quick to unpack back here.

I had a wonderful time meeting Lauren and her family a few weeks ago. You will LOVE them!
