Traveling Turkeys 2010

I know that there are some Turkey veterans on this board. Is Thanksgiving dinner and traditional Thanksgiving meal? I am happy to have a year off from cooking but don't want to miss all my favorite foods.

Yay - time to really start the countdown.

Hilary

Anybody wanting to see the menus from the the 2006 Wonder and 2008 Magic Thanksgiving dinners, pm me and I will send you the link to the traveling turkey website. As you can see, the menu doesn't change much!

Hoping to put the FE list up soon but lacking info. If you are planning on being part of the FE exchange, pm me your cabin number and how many people are in your party!:surfweb:

Thanks!

Just checking in.

Suz I'm so disappointed you're not going with us!

HerrQSmee- I'm pretty sure you already had us down for the FE. MIL and SIL won't be participating so it's just our cabin.

Hope everyone has a great Fourth of July weekend!

After almost 10 years of sharing rooms, my girls are splitting up. That means we are having to move almost everything around upstairs- I think moving would be easier! Willl be up to our elbows in paint! :artist:

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. I've been ridiculously busy this week and am currently in D.C. for a scrapbooking convention. I'm having a blast but am dreading all the work that I'm coming back to, so tonight I'm going to try to chip away at a paper I have to write.

How is everyone doing? You all must be having fun because it's extremely quiet! :goodvibes

Hey Lauren - I hope DC wasn't too miserably hot. :sunny: Someone has a birthday coming up soon!:wizard:

:tink::tinker::tink: Maybe these 3 Tink's will wake up the crew! :snail: We went through all of the posts on this thread and made a list of everyone that showed interest in the FE's. We will keep that list on our Traveling Turkeys website so as to avoid repeating it here. We made some other updates so be sure to PM me if you need the link.

For those of you unfamilar with the FE, don't be intimidated. It's a lot of fun and can be as inexpensive and low-key as you want.

Attention Silver Castaway Club members - it looks like August 22nd is the first day to make reservations for Palo, spa, Flounders and excursions. This will be here before you know it!

For our 2008 Thanksgiving cruise, July was about the time the board started hopping.:cheer2: We look forward to meeting more cruisers and learning more about those who have already chimed in. Get in touch with your inner pirate pirate: and get ready for some fun!

I cannot believe that it's only 4 months away!!!:banana::banana: We are so excited and I hope that since we're getting so close a whole bunch of people hop on the thread. My birthday and Lorelei's birthday are fast approaching... and for me that has always marked the summer coming to a close :confused3 but that just means we're even closer to our awesome cruise :goodvibes

DC was ridiculously hot and we had some insane storms here this past week. Lorelei's daycare was even closed on Wednesday because it flooded :scared1: Luckily my SIL is on summer break and could watch her all day. This Thursday I'm headed to Chapel Hill for a conference and I'm hoping it's not too hot and humid but I'm too scared to check the weather forecast. :rotfl:

We're really excited for FE too because it adds so much to the 7 day cruises :thumbsup2

I just love FE's! Didn't know how much fun coming back to our room could be until we did FEs! My girls would race to the door to see what cool treats were waiting for them! Guess I need to start thinking about what I want to do for the FEs- things will get busy around here when school starts!:rolleyes1

Thanks so much! She enjoyed herself tons. We threw a huge birthday party for her on Saturday... not that she'll remember but we took tons of pics :goodvibes

We've been checking airfare and there are some good deals so we may go down to WDW for labor day. We did that a couple years ago and it was fun. DH said we can do whatever I want so I think I'll take advantage. I'll have to get some party pics up soon.

How fun! We are so jealous if you go to WDW! My girls are dying for some Disney time! We were lucky to have a 4 day weekend last year in September and went to DL. This year we are busy every weekend with football games. The joys of having a freshman in band!

Anyone else suffering from the heat? Another 100+ day here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Looks like our neighbors in the central states are getting it worse than us! Where is that cool tropical breeze when you need it? Better than that a frozen mouse bar! YUM!

Watched the latest video of the Disnesy Dream! Makes me want to use my onboard discount! The restaraunts look so cool! And the kid areas! Awesome! I will always love the Magic, but could use some Dream time!

The heat is not as bad for us. thank goodness! We decided to plan a trip for Labor Day weekend. We're staying at Old Key West. We've never stayed there so I'm excited. Now we need to decide what parks to go to and such. I'm so excited because we were in some serious need of some Disney.

HerrQSmee- if you want to go on the Dream you should come on the maiden voyage with us! It would be great to have a friend. We'll get to book excursions and such soon! Yay :banana::banana:

Namsupak - would love to sail with you on the maiden voyage of the Dream. Unfortunately, the time constraints of one high school DD and one middle school DD make this impossible to do as a family.

We could go without the girls but I think they would never speak to us again! :rolleyes1

Our count is that we have 100 days until departure day!:banana::banana:

It's never too soon to get those excursion plans and onboard resi's planned out!:yay:

We get to make our ressies so soon for Palo's and the nursery! Hope everyone is making their plans. We're working on that today as well as getting our packing together for our Labor Day weekend at WDW :goodvibes

Lorelei is now working on giving the bottle up so we're facing that battle this weekend. Hopefully a little shopping will distract her :rotfl:

Yea! Another milestone on the cruise countdown is coming up! :cheer2:

Namsupak - hope you get what you want on Flounders and Palos! We went through the bottle separation at Lorelei's age with both of our girls. It does make life easier.

We have had the high tea at Palo's. It was fun dragging my DH along. He ended up being the only guy there! We had a great time and it was a quiet break from the regular cruise atmosphere. We have never tried brunch or dinner at Palo's but maybe we check that out this time. I hear that both are outstanding!

Other than the usual Castaway Cay bicycles and snorkeling gear, I don't think we are doing any of our excursions through DCL. We have done a good bit of research through tripadvisor and other sites for ideas.

We have updated the website with the latest ashore and onboard times. We will also be posting some door decoration templates for anyone who wants them.

I'm so depressed as I just cancelled this cruise today. My kids have club lacrosse try-outs on Nov 20-21st. We've talked to the coach to try to get it moved to early Dec but no luck. Have a good time everyone.

SnowWhite2 - Sorry to hear about the schedule conflict. :sad2: Hopefully we can meet up on another cruise someday. All the best.

We had our traditonal resi party last night. We log into DCL at exactly midnight Eastern Time and see what we can get. Two years ago it was like an after-Thanksgiving sale. Everything at Palo was immediately snatched up. Last night it seemed very quiet and availability was wide open. We got Palo for dinner on Wednesday night and high tea at Palo for Monday.:yay:

Not that I am complaining but I can't figure out what's up with this cruise.:confused3 I know that some of traditional Turkey Day folks have made other plans but I still would have expected a lot of Castaway Club members to be battling it out for resi's. Oh well, we are all going to have a blast and if the ship is empty, we will graciously accept an upgrade to the Walt Disney suite!:rotfl2:

Making the resi's helps the sail date seem closer!

Now back to the reality of another 104-degree day in Texas!:eek::eek:

Room 5022 (Category 10) is open now (someone must have cancelled since these room go quickly). Its a secret porthole room so an old category 8 now a Cat 10...if anyone wants to change! :)
