Hi all

A couple of quick questions for anyone who has flown with travel city if any one could help me out please.

Firstly luggage allowance - On their website it states one please of hand luggage (6kg) and baggage allowance of 20kg - Does anyone know if that means one case or more adding up to 20kg?

Second question on hand luggage - Does anyone know if there would be a problem taking a laptop as hand luggage? And if so can a laptop be used during the flight and be plugged in?

Thanks, as ever, for all your help.

1) the weight allowance is a total - there is no (reasonable) limit on the number of pieces - unlike scheduled airlines where you are allowed two pieces and the max weight of each (32 Kg) is imposed by health and safety rather than the airline. Of course, you do need to take account of the fact that each extra bag is absorbing weight allowance in its own right (ie the weight of the bag)

2) There is no problem in taking a laptop as hand baggage providing you do not exceed the size/weight limits. I do not believe that power ports exist in economy for laptops etc. There is no restriction on using the laptop in flight providing any embedded wireless/Bluetooth is turned off - except of course for take-off & landing as with any electronic device.

Sorry to butt in on the post........ but do children travelling with you have the allowance too ?

We are a party of 2 adults and 2 children...am I right to assume our total allowance is 80kg ....... and that this need not be in 4 cases but could be contained in 3 ? :confused3

Hi Jbybnsn

According to the TCD wesite as long as you have paid for the seat you get the 20kg regardless of adult or child. Infants don't as they don't get a seat.

Not sure about spliting your 80kg between 3 cases though - sorry

No individual case may exceed 32Kgs. This is a health & safety limit as regards the maximum allowable for a 2-man lift.

we always pay for the TCD 20kg luggage upgrade so giving U 40kgs each, paying £15 each is far cheaper than paying charges plus U don't have to think about what U buy apart from the cost of the goods!!! britania stuck us for £49 for 7kgs overweight charge in may, ouch.

we went sunshine first with tcd and got 40kg each, we fetched back 3 cases each so six in all and a package as well as way big disney bags as hand luggage, our cases were not weighed so we didnt pay any extra, though we would have been well over lol

word of warning though the airports really battered the bags and cases

When I took my other half for the first time and booked a double luggage allowance he was then laughing at me when I moand that his case going out was too heavy at 16 Kg. He changed his mind when I took his shopping.

We went over with one smal case each. I wanted to put each small case in a larger case and he reqlly did not want to. However, we can back with 5 suitcases, as the first one he bought was too small! We did not hit the allowance still, but has more than two bags each.

Last year we travelled on TCD with 7 others, our cases were wieghed as a group and as the party was under the total parties limit there was no problem.

Also we checked in for our return flight at LBV and the cases are NOT weighed so it wasnt an issue there.
