Take the subway south to the Bloor line, get on the Bloor line and go west to Kipling (last stop), take the airport bus, I think it's either #19 or #21, check www.ttc.ca to confirm.

Check out the TTC website, it gives other options other than Kipling Station and also has a link to GO options.
We usually use a limo service. There are government approved flat rates for airline limousines. We have used Aeroport Taxi and Limousine Service in the past and for a town car to the airport from my postal code (M2R) it costs $29.00 flat rate (GST included). You can go to their website, www.aeroporttaxi.com and check out the rate for your postal code by clicking on Flat Rates on the left side of the home page and typing in your postal code on the Flat Rates page that comes up. We usually have to be at the airport too early to consider TTC, as I always try to get an early flight. One time my sister phoned a regular taxi to take them to the airport from Islington and 401 and it cost her $60.00. She thought that if she ordered a limo it would cost her more!
There used to be a bus to the airport from York Mills subway station check with the TTC. There is also a bus from the Royal York across from Union Station if you work downtown.

There's also a downtown airport shuttle that picks you up at the corner of King and Peter almost every 20 minutes and it costs roughly $15, but from North York, I think your best bets cost effectively are the TTC or the limo taxi someone suggested.

You can fit 6 adults no problem. 1 in the front, 2 in the middle, 3 in the back. Not sure about the luggage though. If anything you might have to have luggage on your laps if it doesn't all fit.
You have to call and request a van though, but I believe it's the same price.
If you really want to save the money for the 2nd cab, I'd call the van really early and if you end up not fitting everything in, call a second one. But you definetly don't want to miss your flight and ruin your vacation because you tried saving $40 on a 2nd van.
