transferring of points

how does this work, I know its been beaten to death, but I don't get it. Say I want to go to Hilton Head next summer, I need Hh points to get the room at the 11 month mark, I own VWL, if someone transfers me the total amount of points needed (406), are they HH points and can I book, or do they become VWL points and I have to wait till 7 months. Is it best to just rent the points and have someone else make the reservation?

If you are transferred HH points, they are supposed to stay HH points, with the 11 month priority intact.

Having said that, sometimes you have to remind DVC of that fact, and get them to fix what they break when the record the the transfer incorrectly.
