Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Hi Tracy
sounds like you had a nice calm & relaxing day :)
Hope you have a nice visit with your friend & the new baby.....
maybe you will get broody ;)

I hear ya WISH sis on the disorganization factor. I just wish I had about a week where I could do NOTHING except get myself organized. Not going to happen though, so I just organize when & where I can and go from there. It is nice that you had some down time with the kids while DH was at his job. Great going resisting at McD's!

Good evening friends,

Today has been a good day.... Although totally exhausted, DH and I had some great conversation on the way to and from his job. It was also good to see my friend and her baby.... It's weird because even though my girls are 4 and 6, I can't seem to remember what they were like at 2 months! It wasn't all that long ago.... Geesh!

Weigh in today: Down 1.4 pounds!:yay: This shocked me a little because although I haven't been eating much, my choices haven't been all that great.... I'll take it though!:thumbsup2

Still have homeschooling and a trip to the library on the schedule.... Dinner will be late because we had a late lunch. Can you believe that I have made dinner 5 times in the past week?:scared1: :rotfl:

Off to the library.....

Well maybe we should call you Rachel Ray with all that cooking you have been doing. It really helps and thats probably a factor of why you are down. We all cook more healthily than the restaurants do and your budget is getting trimmer too! Wait until your kids are 10 and 12, then a 2 month old baby will seem even more of a distant memory. You are doing so well, keep it up. And thats great you and dh had a chance to talk. Thats what is so great about being in the car sometimes, what else you gonna do but talk? I am also working still on organization but its a slow painful process, sort of like losing weight!

I woke up this morning and could not find the motivation to exercise. Why? Because my mind is wrapped around the clutter and disorganization that is my life right now. Last night, I found some great ideas for organizing my time, for correcting my children's behavior, and for spending more time with the Lord. It was around 2:00 a.m. when I read about all of these things and so today, I want to do some more in depth reading and researching. For some reason, I am craving order in my life right now. I know that may sound strange, but I really want to get organized. Is it because the Lord is planning a move for us and organization would help? Does He want us to to bloom where we are planted for the next couple of years so organization is key? I don't know. I do know that right now, I don't have order and organization and the chaos that ensues causes a lack of creativity and very frustrated parents. :(

Hi Tracy- sounds like a rough day! I have been feeling that way some too. We are remodeling our bedroom right now- drywall hopefully starts going up Monday, and so we have relocated to a tiny spare room. I can't find anything I am looking for, and it seems like everything in the house is covered in dust!

Anyhow, I wanted to give you a website that I use when I feel like my clutter is taking over- it is very motivational, and gives suggestions on how to take baby steps- it has really helped me, and I hope it can help you feel more relaxed about things! There are beginners baby steps listed in the menu to the left.

Yay on the loss!!! :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: :thumbsup2

Babies are fun, when they are someone else's and you can give them back when they stink or start crying... I remember when DD was born and DS would grab her hand (there is a 3 year difference) and it just looked SO HUGE compared to hers and it was hard to believe that he had been that small. Enjoy them while they are young, it really does go by fast!

Glad you sorted some things out with DH. Hopefully his job situation gets better soon.

:cool1: :yay:  :cheer2:
Yay Tracy
Congratulations on the loss :thumbsup2
Whatever your doing keep doing it!! :)
Glad your visit with your friend & the new baby was fun, i cant remember my DD as a baby very well either! Strange isnt it???
It makes me smile when you are amazed that you've cooked 5 dinners, it shows the difference in the way we live - in the UK people dont often eat out, usually special occasions or at the weekend as a treat.
Where as in the US its a way of life, my wedding planner in Clearwater told me she hadnt used her cooker since Easter (this was in November!) as it is so cheap to eat out over there! I'm envious, but i suppose we always want what we havny got or cant have ;)

Hi Tracy, hope today was a good one for you. Hope to "talk" to you tomorrow WISH sis! Weekend is here almost!:cool1:

Good morning WISH friends,

Lisa.... That is so funny that you sent me the link to the Flylady's website.... That's what today's post is about! Thanks!:goodvibes

Yesterday was a great day! I have been reading the book about organization by the Flylady and I have just gotta say.... She describes me to a T in this book! I think I have figured out that when it comes to organization and weight loss, for me, it's all or nothing. That's why baby steps are so important in both areas... Because I have a tendency to want things done right now... When those things don't get done or accomplished, I throw my hands up (sometimes mentally, sometimes physically) and say forget it. Then the clutter clean up or weight loss doesn't happen. I know this happens when I eat something off plan... I figure, since I have already blown my diet today, I throw my hands up in the air, say forget it, and keep eating lots of junk. :(

What I like about the Flylady's approach is that she emphasizes baby steps.... Change is not going to happen overnight! It took months for my house to get this way, years for my weight to get out of control, and years for us to get into debt. Indecision and no step taking are not good.... Trying to fix these things all at once is no good.... not gonna happen. This is where planning comes in.... Fail to plan or plan to fail. Baby steps are the key!

I guess when I became at SAHM, I figured that organization and planning were over! I could stay home, take care of my little girl, eat bon bons all day and do nothing else if I wanted to. :lmao: For the past few years, I have tossed the idea of becoming more organized around in my head and then just have just given up because it was too overwhelming... Well, of course it is overwhelming if you try to do it all at once! That's where the baby steps comes in.... Planning, goals, routines.... The things that I have rebelled against for the past 6 almost 7 years are the very things that will bring peace and harmony to my family. The very things that I have rebelled against are the very things that can give me more time to take care of me and nourish my mind, body, and soul.... How does that saying go? If momma ain't happy, no one's happy! ;):rolleyes1

As a result of all of this thinking, I have decided that I am going to put my weight loss goal on the back burner for now. This does not mean that I am going to stop exercising or trying to eat right. It just means that I am going to try and put the focus onto getting my life as organized as possible over the next few months. Who knows? Maybe once I start organizing and getting rid of the junk and clutter of my life, I will be able to get rid of the weight finally too.

This weekend, I plan to re-read the Flylady's book, scan the website, and start getting routines in place. Her system is wonderful! Now, if this all or nothing girl can stay focused on baby steps and not try to do everything at once, then we're in business! :thumbsup2

Thanks for listening to me ramble today.... I hope you all have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Good morning Tracy- that is so great that you are motivated to try Flylady!! You can do it!! :cheer2: Baby steps is exactly right- although, I am the same way; I want everything done NOW. :rotfl: Sometimes it is just hard to pace yourself, but pretty soon you will be FLYing, I am sure!! Good luck, and keep us posted on how things are going!!

As for the weather, you are right- blech! You definitely got hit more with the snow than we did yesterday- we only got about 2 inches, but it is freezing outside, isn't it? What part of Ohio are you in? I know you said that you went to Erie recently; are you close to there? I have a lot of family in Zanesville, and even though I now live close to Penn State, I am a faithful Buckeye fan forever, lol!

Have a great weekend- it is a good time to curl up under a toasty blanket and read Flylady! :)

Hi Lisa! (I mean fellow Buckeyes fan!:thumbsup2 :teeth: )

We live about halfway between Cleveland and Akron.... We almost always get a lot of snow even though we are considered in the "secondary snowbelt".:cold:

Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Hi again!

I forgot to post today's plan... This helps me get organized!:goodvibes

Today's Plan:

* Workout (Done!)

* Homeschool ?/ DD6 is caught up so I may give her the day off to just chill. ;)

* Go with DH to Toledo for work

* DH is taking DD4 out to eat. DD6 and I will spend some QT together. (He took DD6 out to eat last week and is taking me next week! )

* Read "Sink Reflections" (Flylady book) and relax

Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

Good morning Tracy! We've been following each other around the board today. :upsidedow You are so right about baby steps. That really does apply to just about everything, doesn't it? I'm glad you have found some connection with the flylady. A plan is always a good thing. I understand that you feel disorganized and how frustrating that can be (I feel the same way!). But, as an outsider looking in, with your daily/weekly plans, you always seem really organized to me! Don't dispair & Take care! :grouphug:

Hope you're having a good day, Tracy! Sounds like flylady is worth looking at - my house is always total chaos!!

Step by step you'll get to your goals. Just hang in there!

have an AWESOME weekend and take some Tracy time!

Hi Tracy
Hope your having a great weekend :)
Take care
Tracey x

Hi, Tracy! I am sorry I haven’t posted in your journal in a long time. You have been in my thoughts, though, and I pop in to catch up on how you’re doing every once in a while. You are such an amazingly diligent and disciplined person, Tracy, and you have to give yourself credit for that. You have objectives nearly every day – that is awesome! I am always amazed at how much you accomplish, especially with young children in the house and all of the demands on your time and attention.

And you are such a great WISH friend. I know how much I appreciate the support you give me in my journal all the time. I know when I get a message that you have posted, it makes me :) and gives me :goodvibes: Thank you so much!

All that being said, I can understand how being disorganized or being surrounded by clutter is completely frustrating and makes it hard to give yourself credit for all the intangible tasks you accomplish. It is hard to focus on whatever you have to do next when you feel that edgy tension because you feel like you should be cleaning or clearing. It is so great that you have set a realistic goal of baby steps to re-organize. I’ll bet things are much more organized in your house and your life than you give yourself credit for. Just keep up the great work, sweetie!

Congratulations on losing another 1.4 pounds this week, too — it is awesome that your family had so many homecooked meals this week. Just think, if you lost 1.4 pounds, you know your whole family benefited from eating healthier!

Have a great weekend, Tracy!

I think you have a good plan. If your head is not 100% focused on weight loss, it's going to be extra hard. Who knows, you might find that while organizing everything else the weight just comes off during the process!

Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Hi Tracy-You seem to be doing good..im sorry i havent stopped by lately but ive been thinking about you!

have a great weekend!

Hello friends,

Is the weekend over already? :( How can this be? It just started Friday!:rotfl: Like I said last week, Mondays are not my thing!:sad2:

My DH and I went to a health food store today and decided that we need to do a whole body clease. We will be taking the cleansing product and eating 3 meals a day + 2 snacks if needed. Lots of veggies, fruits, and water.... Lots and lots of water!:fish: Hopefully, it will help us feel better and maybe even jump start weight loss.:yay:

I also have a list of things I want to accomplish this week when it comes to cleaning and organzing. Once I have some semblance of order in the house, then I will start "flying" with the Flylady. I will adhere to her suggestion of 15 minutes cleaning bursts so the girls and I don't get worn out, but I really feel a need to straighten up somewhat before practicing the program.

Prayers and good thoughts for my DH are much appreciated.... He has a situation to deal with that we thought had been dealt with and he is not looking forward to taking care of it. :( Thanks!

Well, I am off to do some more DISing and then I am going to start re-reading Disney War. I read it once, but with over 500 pages, I would like to read it again and maybe gleen some information that I might have missed.

Have a great evening!

**********************************************************

Anna~ Thanks! I guess part of my organizational problem is that I am very good at making lists, but horrible at follow through.

Julie~ Flylady is great! She e-mails you the steps that you need to take daily. I read her book and it is wonderful!:goodvibes

Tracey~ It was a great weekend.... Just way too short.

Cam~ Thank you so much, Cam! Your words have blessed my day today... :goodvibes

Amy~ That would be great if I could lose weight while getting more organized! I was thinking that if I could get organized, then maybe saving money, paying down debt, and losing weight might be a nice side effect of the organization. Thanks!:goodvibes

Jen~ I hope you're feeling better soon, sweetie!

Dax~ Good to see you!:goodvibes Thanks for stopping by! How are things going for you? I hope you and your family are doing well!:goodvibes
