I just got a flyer under my door.

There will be a tour of Kidani Village on Wed the 22nd.

They specifically mention seeing the "dining experience" and the interactive water play area "Uwanja Camp."

"light refreshments and a special gift"

Will try to go if either DW wants to or I can get away between 7 and 10, which is when they are offering it.

Still hoping for an early opening to the new pool by Fri.

OOOooooooo! So lucky!

I hope someone does this and takes pictures for us. Ask a lot of questions too!

(like where the okapis will be located)

Lucky you!! I hope you can go and if you do please take lots of pictures and post them here!!!

Awesome, look forward to reading about it.

I look forward to pictures, but remember, no using it, the pool is for AKV guests only (non-pool hopping location)... ;-)

Wow the pool police are out already!! He is staying at Jambo! You really should read his siggy before you ban him from your pool. I hope I am not that nasty to the Contemp. visitors over at BLT.... We have a non-hopping pool too!! Oooh!:snooty:

Sorry, if your post didn't mean to come off nasty, but it did. I sure hope the OP goes and enjoys the tour.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! I am excited about this, so hope you get pictures, would love details on the dining options. I know about the sit down but am hoping for some sort of quick service options, also pool pics. PLEASE go and take pics, we're beggin' ya!

I am sorry but I took this as kinda nasty also, lighten up!:tigger:

We are staying at Jambo, but can't use the pool, because it is not open.

I took the tour and will tell you what I recall offhand, but remember my caffeine level was low when I was there.

Lobby is mini of AKL. Thatched roof. Huge picture window overlooking savannah. Store to right as you walk in. Check in to the left. Well done. I think perfect in size and mood and DVC.

Savannah views I saw were very nice, but I'm sure they showed us some of the better ones.

Hallways are very similar. Same light fixtures on walls and same colors.

2BR dedicated has slightly bigger LR, I think. Kitchen a little bigger with a full counter instead of the table-type island. 3 full baths. One to the left as you walk in. The master bath has an ENORMOUS SHOWER and the tub is about the same as the one in Jambo. Extra BR has 2 dedicated queens instead of sofa sleeper.

1 BR is basically the same minus the extra BR. Can't remember if it has 2 baths of not. I didn't look at studio.

The pool is beautiful. Foliage not as thick as foliage at the AKL pool. Much more open because not surrounded by buildings. One side has a great view overlooking a grassy wetland.

Unbelievable interactive water play area for kids. Huge. Lots of water games. Well landscaped. WOW. Families with kids under 10 are gonna love it.

Now I can't remember, which is which, but the deal is $16 off at either BLT or AKV and $18pp off at the other for limited time. That seems pretty amazing to me. I still don't think it's time for us to buy now, but if we were close I would jump on it.

I really want to get a firsthand look at BLT first. It will be such a totally different experience from this.

Sales pitch was low key, especially when she realized I was very well informed and had considered all the options and I understood the ins and outs of point usage..

The "free gift" was a pair of binoculars and she she gave me 5 (for each of our family that are here) 3-ride fast passes good any ride any time.

There will be a drawing for framed decorative colorful basket later today.

The exterior is not so attractive, but I assume that's because they made it fairly authentic for the theme. Much of the parking is under the bldg, which if you are familiar with Fla sun, you will realize is not a small perk for those who use their cars when here.

Again, took pics but don't have a cord to connect camera to computer here. Will post when I get home. I assume someone else will probably beat me too it.

bottom line IMHO as an OKW owner who is thinking about some day adding on elsewhere: AKL fans and those considering it will NOT be disappointed here. A very attractive DVC site that has even a more laid back feel that the AKL itself!!

One more thing. The restaurant was small that I could see on our brief viewing, but had a cool savannah view. Very well done. Unique. It didn't have an extensive menu, but I just took a quick look. If you're a dining afficianado, you will need to be be looking elsewhere for most of your meals, but I think this will be nice if you want to eat close to home. By the size of the restaurant, I think they are expecting most guests to follow that pattern.

Our tour guide told us they had just seen the place for the first time the day before.

Thanks for your review OneMoreTry! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to seeing more pix today. We'll be there in 9 SHORT DAYS :yay:, so I'm also anxious to see for myself!!
