Hi everyone.

My family is headed down to Disneyworld from December 20th to January 3rd. While I understand the entire time will be extremely busy, I am wondering what people think are the absolute top busy days where there is the greatest chance of a capacity closing. I am there 14 days but with a 10 day ticket can take 4 days off from the parks. My thinking is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and also New Years Eve. Are those the top and in what order?

Thanks.

Any day between Christmas and New Years Day has the potential for capacity closures at MK at least. Trying to predict them in order is lunacy, lunacy I say.

In general for the closures don't the crowds start to back off again during the late afternoon and the parks reopen? (Obviously not for things like NYE)

I'm planning a trip out on the 30th and 31st but only plan on being in MK on the 30th in the evening (maybe afternoon for the parade... maybe not... might try noon on NYE day...) and doing DHS early evening on the 31st to catch the Osborne Lights before making a hasty retreat to the resort. (I would've preferred any other time but this was the only time I could get the family together for a holiday trip) I think I've planned it enough to minimize the closure risk plus we're staying at a resort onsite so that helps... But the best laid plans...

Yes, this is the general pattern. :thumbsup2

Your right it is nuts and no doubt varies from year to year. I found these things from the previous 2 years:

2013:
December 24: MK parking lot closed from 2:45-5:00
December 25: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 11:00-3:30
December 27: MK parking lot closed 1:00-2:30
December 30: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 11:00-1:00
December 31: MK was in a phase 3 closure from 11:00-8:00
December 31: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 9:30-11:00

2012:
December 24: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 12:00-3:00
December 25: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 12:00-3:30
December 27: MK was in a phase 3 closure from 12:00-2:00
December 27: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 11:00-12:00
December 28: MK was in a phase 3 closure from 12:00-2:00
December 28: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 11:15-12:00
December 30: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 12:00-1:00
December 31: MK was in a phase 3 closure from 10:00-8:00
January 2: MK was in a phase 2 closure from 12:00-1:30

From this, my top 4 list would be:
1) New Years Eve
2) Christmas Day
3) Christmas Eve
4) December 30th (although other days from X-Mas to New Years could be busier than this one)
