Toothpaste

Colgate Total.

Somewhere Colgate brainwashed me into thinking Total was superior.

I've used a bunch of different varieties of Total. I think I'm using Whitening now or whatever Costco sells in a 4-pack.

Between using Total and an Oral B electric toothbrush, my DDS always says me teeth look good.

Colgate Total in the summer
Crest 3-d white in the winter because I only drink coffee in the winter.

My Dentists have always said, you really don't even need tooth paste.

and our dentist gave us a prescription for extra fluoride for toothpaste - told her to stop drinking bottled water (no fluoride) I'd have to go upstairs to find the toothpaste he recommended...

He also advised her to chew gum with xylitol in it...

As long as it has the ADA seal of approval on it, you should be good to go. Everyone seems to have their own preference though.

Close Up for me, I don't like mint! It's cinnamon.

I use Tom's of Maine fluoride-free toothpaste. I try to avoid as many chemicals, artificial colors, and artificial sweeteners as I can.

Toothpaste shouldn't have fake sugar in it or fake coloring. Yuck! When I ran out of Tom's (which is natural peppermint flavored) I used a sample tube of Crest and it made me gag because it's sweet. Then I tried the Colgate Total sample I had which tasted slightly better but it has a terrible ingredient in it...triclosan (among other bad things).

I used to use Crest Pro-Health products and if I wasn't concerned about their ingredients I would use it again.

Another Tom's user.

I use to use Tom's but the Anise flavored one. My teeth have been bad since I used it. The dentist is wanting me to use more fluoride products now since I used Tom's. I was put on expensive toothpaste by Colgate (fruit flavored) at $5 for a small tube. I'm also suppose to use kids mouthwash with fluoride since I don't like mint. I was using kid's fruit toothpaste too (since everything else was fruit) after purchasing one or two tubes of the expensive Colgate stuff with extra fluoride.

Sensodyne Pronamel. It's one of the few kinds of toothpaste I can find without Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. SLS gives me canker sores. I avoid it in handsoap, body wash, shampoo, etc. too b/c it gives me eczema.

We use whatever i have gotten free from couponing... :) Usually colgate total or maxfresh. They're all the same to me.

I lost my sense of taste with Crest Pro-Health. And got it back when I stopped using it.

And other Tom's of Maine user (since early 2006) here. LOVE it. DS and I use the spearmint flavored. It took about a week to get used to it but I just can't bring myself to use Crest or Colgate anymore. They feel and taste like I'm rubbing pure sugar granules all over my teeth. bleh!

For DH and DS it matters a LOT which brand. They are both very prone to canker sores. Traditional brands (crest, colgate) have surfactants that make them more likely to have canker sores.

When we went to Disney we needed to pack one carry-on to get us through the first night, so we bought travel sized crest. Sure enough, for the next month, DS had canker sores from one week of using crest.

We use JASON brand, which contains fluoride, it might work for you if you're looking for a more natural brand of non-mint toothpaste. We personally use mint, but they have other flavors.
