The frost finally killed my employer's magical tomato plants he had out back at work. We have had a incredible run from late summer until this past weekend with his heirloom Brandywine pinks- unbelievable flavor that were nearly all meat with very little seeds/juice. DH and I have had tomatoes daily almost since August.
During Hurricane Hannah my boss parked his wife's Jeep beside the plants and tied them to the vehicle. They took over the jeep and she just got it back to drive yesterday (yes, we loved those plants!
). He did take some cuttings to root and also is saving some seeds because, dang, those were some heavenly tomatoes!
The remaining tomatoes were picked and wrapped- may those plants rest in peace in the compost.
