Tomato tragedy

The frost finally killed my employer's magical tomato plants he had out back at work. We have had a incredible run from late summer until this past weekend with his heirloom Brandywine pinks- unbelievable flavor that were nearly all meat with very little seeds/juice. DH and I have had tomatoes daily almost since August.

During Hurricane Hannah my boss parked his wife's Jeep beside the plants and tied them to the vehicle. They took over the jeep and she just got it back to drive yesterday (yes, we loved those plants! ). He did take some cuttings to root and also is saving some seeds because, dang, those were some heavenly tomatoes! The remaining tomatoes were picked and wrapped- may those plants rest in peace in the compost.

I can only imagine what they tasted like as I have never heard of this variety of tomato before. You sure had them late into the season.

I scraped ice off of my windshield this morning (with a Disney Cruise key card -- the irony!!)

I'm hoping my tomato plants on the lanai survived (new ones, just blooming)!

Ahhh, bummer. I've never had that variety before either, but I love fresh tomatoes. We had such a weird season this year that I hardly got any at all, and mine have long since been dead from pouring rain.
