Sorry if its been asked 1,000,000x's before, but since everytime we have driven to FL we have always come down the gulf coast, and taken some state highways and never had to pay tolls, but--- I notice that there are tolls on the road from MCO to WDW-- approx how much should I have, and are they automatic, or coins, or attendent with change?? Thanks in adavance :teeth:

OMG I didn't even think of that one!!! When we've taken a town car - I THINK that one toll was attendant ($1) and another one - we got off somewhere to go to Publix was change only. I'm sure others here will know the exact amount. Just glad that I read this a.m. as we'll be renting a car and I'm notorious for never having cash/change - LOVE my CC :wave2: !!

There are two manned toll booths that are $1 a piece. On Osceola Parkway exit (Allstars, CSR, etc.) there is an unmanned booth that takes 50 cents in exact change.

WHEW!!!! Thanks for the info--- If I was traveling that distance on a toll road here, it would cost almost $5.50!!!! Will have my cash (and coins) ready!!!

I just gave up and got an EZ-Pass for Orlando. We go at least once a year and usually have friends join us and I have to make multiple trips to/from MCO. A nice side benefit is that the garage at MCO now takes the EZ-Pass as payment for parking, just zip through the gates.

If you take the Bee Line from MCO to Disney the tolls are 2 @ .75 each. There are manned booths this way.

SR 417 has manned booths from somewhere around 7am to 5pm and then exact change or e-pass only for the exits and onramps. The toll booths on the highway itself has manned booths.

You can make it from MCO to WDW for 75 cents each way, no exact change worries. Go out the airport north exit, left at first light, curve to left, little over a mile then two quick lefts at next lights onto Bee Line (Beach Line) Rte. 528, to I-4 west (southwest), goes to all Disney exits.

Coming back, I-4 east to 528, get off 528 at its exit 9 Tradeport, left and cross under, (cheap gas station right there, then get back into) middle lane away from 528, required right onto McCoy, next light little over a mile later is Semoran Blvd. and airport north entrance.

Traffic can be very heavy on I-4. We always take the south exit to 417 south. There are two $1 tollbooths on 417 if you get off at exit 6 International Drive, which will take you into WDW near Downtown Disney. Another 50 cents to exit 3 Osceola Parkway, which will take you near All Stars and Animal Kingdom.

I agree. Skip I-4. Taking 417 is a great way to avoid the traffic and stress of getting to WDW.

Take the south exit to 417. It's worth the extra coin or so. Take exit 6, once you enter Disney, follow the signs

I also agree 100% with staying far, far away from I-4. The small savings isn't worth it in wasted time, traffic, and annoyance. Take 417!!

I ran two maps and am taking the NON-I4 route hopefully I will avoid major congestion. What are the "rush" times on the highways in the orlando area?? If its like Chicago, its all day :rotfl: Thanks again for the advice.

If you take 417, none to speak of, if 528 to I4 4pm to 6pm.
(can turn into 3 to 10 when the idiots wreck)

For a extra few coins, go 417, (south exit) it is your best bet.

I've driven 417 all different times of the day to or from MCO and have never hit much of any traffic.

Thanks localdriver, much appreciated.

Although I've never seen "traffic" on 417, I've seen some pretty nasty back-ups at the toll booths. Those tend to be on "transit days" when people are heading to/leaving WDW rather than traditional rush hour times. Even with those back-ups, it's MUCH better than I-4, which is a parking lot all day, every day.
