to Round 3...And Beyond! Moms Panel Hopefuls and Friends

Good Morning DIS-ers! All is well up here in Buffalo. Some minor flooding in typical areas. We are fine here! THe sun was actually out for a bit, but we are back to heavy rain. Wind is fine, just a little breezy. We never lost power.

I hope that our East Coasters will check in and let us know how they are doing! :thumbsup2

Hey everybody, just checking in. I hope you all are okay after last night. Very surprisingly, we did not lose power even though many in our area did. All the schools remain closed today and people are encouraged to stay home and off the roads. I can't believe the extent of the damage this storm has caused!! My thoughts are with all of you who have been affected by Sandy! Please try to check in at some point to let us all know how you're doing.

I am so glad you are doing ok. I saw pics last night of the flooding in East Manhattan, and the waves crashing on the Statue of Liberty - incredible.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
50 Marathons in 50 States by the time I'm 50 (have 6 states completed!!)

It's funny that you mention that. I am the event coordinator for a 5K in Indiana and I just received an email from a lady in Minnesota. She and her nephews are going to try and run a 5K on all 50 states in 2013. She was writing to make sure we are still going to have our race because her plan for Memorial Day weekend 2013 is to knock out Ohio on Saturday, Michigan on Sunday and our race on Monday of that weekend.

Thank you for starting this new thread. All the best to all as we await news for round three.

Blessings!

My pleasure! I love being in the waiting room with all you fabulous people! Hopefully our torture will be over soon, then we will have to wait a little longer for the phone interviews and the "big news".

Continued good luck to all of you!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We still have power- a very big surprise! It went off maybe three times last night for a minute or two each, but thankfully it came right back on each time. Though the kids were panicking about what would happen if we lost power after they went to bed...thankfully we made it through okay and there were no tears.

I haven't ventured outside yet this morning, but I see roofing tiles all over our lawn out front - don't know if they are off our apartment building or another one close by though. Philadelphia's transportation is still down for inspections this morning before they can start running again. Our regional rail trains though run along Amtrak routes, so they are at the mercy of Amtrak to get up and running again. Lucky me though, I had already taken off tomorrow and Thursday for Halloween, so I don't have to deal with the train until Friday:) A mini six day "vacation" is great to help calm me about going on my trip to Las Vegas next Tuesday:crazy2:

Glad to hear so many still have their power after this storm and we can get back tot he waiting game :hourglass

Hey all, a question to break up the wait:

My DH is encouraging me to get personalize plates the xpress my WDW addiction...any ideas? Here are a few we thought of:

WDW Fan
WDW Lvr
Dzny Lvr
Dzny Fan
DznyWrld

Other thoughts? All of the above are available.

I vote "Dzny Lvr", but "Dzny Mom" or "WDW Mom" are great too! :thumbsup2

Since we're bored, waiting on the news:;)

These are great Dawn! Congrats on your first place this year! :cool1:

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
I love to sew and embroider. I make my DD's gymnastics leotards and when she was younger I made most of her clothes. She's 9 and won't wear them anymore. I made her a Cinderella Costume when she was 3 she wore it for her first trip to WDW. The next two years I made Snow White and then a blue Sleeping Beauty dress. She wore the Snow White dress to a tea party on the Magic and the Sleeping Beauty dress to WDW.

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
Disneyland at 2, but I only know because I saw pictures. Disneyland again after I graduated College in 1993. WDW first time in 1999.

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
Not many complete vacations, but have families bring me lists of questions. I answer DCL questions a lot.

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
Elementary Education, but only taught 5 years. Now I sew and embroider.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
Elementary Librarian - I love books and love to share that love with children.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
My list is extensive, but I would like to visit the Holy Lands.

Disney Addicts will find a way!!!

This is so true!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

DINING RESERVATION. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I totally punk'd myself!!!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

You'd think after all those other Disney emails last week I'd have read the entire subject line before screaming. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

This is totally something I would do! :):rotfl2::)

I've been watching the news - Has anyone heard from BaseballMickey? I'm mainly a lurker, but I hope to see everyone from the NE check in today.

So glad to see everyone checking in and doing well! What a nightmare that storm had to be- was "watching" it on Twitter last night. Eeeek!

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
reading, running, girl scouts, boy scouts and soccer!

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
Apparently 6 months old. Though my mother failed to capture the moment on film. Curse her! ;) My parents lived in So Cal so we went to DL often as children.

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
Oh... too many. Full on all the details, probably 50+. But more often (as in every day often!) I've helped friends, family, co workers, my doctors office (lol), etc, plan aspects of their Disney trips. The girl scouts, boy scouts, soccer and swim teams all know I'm the mom to ask! Just last night I was discussing ADRs with a scout family who is planning a trip in March. Another mom mentioned they were thinking about going but weren't sure since their LO was only 2. So you know I had to speak up! ;)

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
I majored in Communication - PR. I minored in Sociology. Currently I am a cancer information specialist with a large non profit. It's a little bit of everything in one job, done from the comfort of my own home in my PJs!

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
I don't think I want to go back to school. Ever. And I loved school. But I think that season has passed in my life.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
Like any Disney-holic, staying in Cinderella's suite is pretty high up there. I'd also like to do a RunDisney Grand Slam- all the races back to back in one year. But I think I need to move back to FL to make that one affordable!

Three days til WDW so I better get packing!!!! Have a good day
You'd think after all those other Disney emails last week I'd have read the entire subject line before screaming. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
gang!!! ::yes:::thumbsup2:cool1::cloud9:

Three days, YAY!:cool1:

We are quite fortunate and only lost power for a couple of hours and only seem to have lost a few branches. It looks like most of our town is still without power so feeling particularly lucky. My thoughts and prayers are with those south of us and hope everyone in the waiting room is safe. :goodvibes

Great news, could've been a lot worse!:thumbsup2

I'm glad your OK & have internet connection so you can make me laugh today!:rotfl:

Thank you for starting this thread. Wishing everyone all the best as we await and very grateful for braving Sandy.:grouphug:

Hey girlie, glad to see you in these here parts? :wave2:

We still have power- a very big surprise! It went off maybe three times last night for a minute or two each, but thankfully it came right back on each time.
Wonderful News. I bet it was scary not knowing when it would come back on each time, thankfully pretty quick!:scratchin

Glad to see so many still have power, hopefully there's less damage overall than previously expected! :bitelip:

Take Care & stay safe.:crowded: Everyone could definitely use PIXIE DUST after this crazy storm, a STORM OF PIXIE DUST!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Is that all I am good for around here, a good laugh??? ::yes::
That's OK, I enjoy it. :thumbsup2
I will have to think of a story - real or otherwise to write today!
I have lots of time too - DS11's school is closed today. I did all of my chores yesterday in preparation for the storm. Washing that grey right out of my hair right now! I had planned to stay in my PJ's today, but don't think that's gonna happen. Beef stew is in the crockpot for dinner, so dinner is done too!

:cool1:

I was trying to make one of my magical lists on the way to work today and I actually gave up because I don't think I'm going to finish everything that I wanted to get done before we leave.

I had planned on last night being laundry and packing night, but then we went out for dinner with my nephew's fiancee, so we didn't get home until almost 9pm.

So, tonight is going to (hopefully) be laundry and packing night PLUS sewing night. I have to sew maribou onto 3 leotards and then sequin waistbands and maribou onto 3 circle skirts for my daughter's dance company.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get it all done, but I'm sure going to try!

Good morning, everyone!

Sounds like it was a pretty rough night, so I'm very glad that some people in the danger zones have already checked in! Hope to hear from the rest soon! Other than a one hour blackout, we were fine (just west of Toronto). We still have a lot of people without power around here.

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
I love counted cross stitch, photography, reading, and scrapbooking. Until a knee injury earlier this year, I also really loved running!

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
I was a "late bloomer" - didn't get to WDW until I was 27! I was already married (no kids yet) and we went with my parents. I made up for lost time, though, with 10 trips, 5 DCL cruises, and joining DVC in the last 6 years!

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
Haven't planned many complete vacations, but not a day goes by without talking Disney with any number of people!

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
Started out in Graphic Design, but ended up graduating with General Arts and Sciences. Also did a few years towards my accounting designation, and some law courses. I work as a financial analyst with the Attorney General's office.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
I'd study Graphic Design again, with the goal of getting a job with Disney!

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
I'd really love to get back into shape and do a runDisney race!

I had my first dream about the Moms Panel last night! My DH told me that I had made it to R3 :thumbsup2 and my first thought was, "Wow, I'm going to get SO many new Facebook friends!"

Hang in there, everyone! We're bound to hear something before the end of the week...:confused3

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?

Traveling! I love going anywhere. I also play the piano and wish I had more time to devote to that hobby. It never fails though, the moment I sit down to play, something else more urgent comes up :)

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?

I was 2 when I first went to Disneyland and went just about every year thereafter until high school. I didn't make it to Disney World until 2007 when I was 30 and have been there twice.

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?

I usually plan vacations for ALL my family. I don't mind although I usually wind up wishing I was going too.

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?

My B.A. Was from Chico State in Liberal Arts. I got my law degree from McGeorge School of Law. I am currently a deputy district attorney for my County.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?

No more school for me! I love what I do.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?

Right now I've been dreaming of Peru....Disney...andPeru.

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
DCL and DL :rotfl2: Actually, I love movies. I also enjoy TV ranging from Breaking Bad to American Horror Story to Once Upon a Time.

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
I was 11, my mom packed us up (in Iowa) in her Dodge Duster and we drove to DL. I fell in love with Peter Pan (get back, Wendy!)

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
Wow...hmm. I would say about 50. These are start to finish trips with daily itineraries, ADRs, etc.

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
I have a BSW (social work) and an MPA (Public Administration). I work at a non-profit that works to move people out of poverty.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
Well, I really love what I do. But I have always been intrigued by law. I (like someone else mentioned) was actually accepted into law school, but at the time had a good job that I loved, so I didn't go.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
To live in Florida! We actually worked on it in 2010 and early 2011, but come to find out the economy there was bad and there were no jobs :confused3 We were idiots to think that timing was good!

Good morning! Wow, some of you are so productive this morning. Whenever the kids are home from school, I feel so lazy :rolleyes1 We just had wind and rain last night and luckily the power went out for just a minute. We all bunked up together in one room, though, because we have trees close to our home. So that means no sleep for me with all my chatter boxes :dance3: I hope everyone is safe!!

I love giraffes too! When I did the Wild Africa Trek in February, the giraffes were so close to our truck, we could pet them! (they didn't want us to, but a few of us did it before they said something) I have this awesome pic of one sticking her head right in the truck to say hello! I will see if I can post it later.

If anyone is looking for something new to do at WDW, I highly recommend the Wild Africa Trek, it is the most amazing thing I've done at WDW. They Keys to the Kingdom and the Dolphin Encounter were incredible too! :thumbsup2

We have reservations to do wild Africa trek in march!! Sounds like its worth it! Yayyyy!!!

Hope everyone is safe this morning.

Good morning! We are safe, warm, have power, and are surrounded by snow! However, it's not nearly as bad as they projected at our house. Right now we have maybe 1 1/2" on the ground, but none on our driveway or road so we can get out! Other areas of our county have been hit hard though, so our children are celebrating no school today.:cool1: We may still get more as Sandy's moisture wraps around our way, but I'm happy not to be completely stuck.

Love the questions from yesterday!

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
I love to read, volunteer at my kids' school, work with teenagers at church, and I eat lunch and worship with the homeless on Wednesdays sharing conversation that so many of them desire.

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
My guess is around age 5. That's when the Magic Kingdom was the only park! We stayed at the Polynesian.

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
Most complete trips have been for extended family, but I share tips and advice regularly to many friends and anyone who asks!

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
I have a few degrees because my interests are wide and I like change!
My first degree is in Elementary Education with a minor in math - though my first job was teaching reading! I've taught school several times as a first & second grade teacher, reading specialist, and a position that worked with the homeless children in the district. My second degree is in Criminal Justice. I worked as a Private Investigator for several years before getting married. My Master's is in Christian Education. I currently work full-time as the Director of Christian Education for a United Methodist Church.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
I enjoy going to school and would go back just for the learning experience! If I had to choose though, I would probably pursue Special Education. My last few years teaching, I was an inclusion teacher which meant I had students with special needs, including autism, in my regular classroom. I would love to specialize in working with those students and their families.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
I have just 6 states to visit before I've been to all 50 states: New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Hawaii. I'd love to visit them all!

I was just sitting here wondering if there are any east coasters we hadn't heard from yet this morning. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that we haven't heard from is Baseball Mickey. She lives on Long Island.

Anyone heard from her??
