This is a story about my 11 year old son Matthew.
Matthew is a very loving, happy kid who never says anything out of turn.
Well, one day when Matt was about 7, we are all sitting at the dinner table, I was telling DH a few things that needed done around the house, and all of a sudden Matthew says very sarcastically "you're NOT his mother!"
Another time, when he was about the same age, we were at Hollywood Studios, and had just come out of the Animation Art Class. You know how it funnels out in to the gift shop, of course. Matthew walks up to me with $80 worth of books and some drawing supplies, batting eyelashes and looking up at me with this face:
. I said "No way! Put them back
"
At first Matthew was
. And then I could see the wheels turning in his head.
. He looks up and says to me "Mom, all my life, my dream has been to be Animation artist for Disney. You wouldn't want to crush my dream, would you?"
Oh my. 7 years old. Playing the guilt card. So, I say "not today." And he walks away all
.
So, I go to the bathroom and meet up with DH and the boys a few minutes later.
DS walks out of the gift shop, with a BIG bag.
"Tony, what did you do?!"
"Matthew said you said it was OK to get them!"
Matthew walking very slowly away from me

I say "either put them back, or no more souvenirs for the rest of the week"
He looks at his brother, whispers to him "victory is mine!"
Little turd. 7 years old.
My then DS14 says to Matthew "you have learned well, young Padawan"
