to Round 3...And Beyond! Moms Panel Hopefuls and Friends

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?
Karaoke, travel, fine dining, TV, pop culture gossip
2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?
I think I was 13 over Christmas. It was a few months after MGM opened.
3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?
I'm not sure. I answer one-off questions all of the time.
4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?
I have a BA in political science and a law degree. I'm a corporate attorney at a telecommunications company.
5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?
I really wouldn't want to go back to school, but if forced, I'd get an MBA.
6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?
If I thought about it, I'd probably have a huge all-time bucket list. But I've never thought about it. Hmm....probably go to all Disney parks worldwide. My current bucket list is to get pregnant. I've been trying for 3 years and haven't been successful yet.

Hope #6 comes true for you soon!!!

Hi all! Hope everyone is safe from Sandy...we lost power around 2pm yesterday and are not expected to get it back till Nov. 5th (gonna be a loooonng week) could be worse, so I am considering myself very lucky. Again hope everyone is safe, and fingers crossed that we hear soon!!

Oh my gosh! So glad you're safe, but best wishes for your sanity! ;)

Oh my goodness! I'm not sure I could live without power for that long. Fingers crossed that it happens sooner!

glad everyone appears to be okay for the most part after the storm.
For those who will be chosen- they really don't give much time before the trip to WDW.

I have not been checking in as much but each time expect to see someone posting they moved on. It should be soon now.

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?@Baglady - The marathon in each state by age 50 is on my bucket list as well. I've been slacking on adding new states the last year or so; I'm only at 7 states, though I still have a decade to get them all in.

That's awesome! I have my marathon and 70.3's races set for 2013. My running group has been locking down which 1/2's to run during the storm!! Yes, we are crazy!!!

I recently started power walking and would hope to be a part of a Disney Marathon in the future. Small steps first. I am up to 3.5 miles.

I really admire people who jog, that's really something. Right now, too much moves when I try that....soo not ready. LOL

Way to go, Jackie! We all start somewhere, that is for sure! :thumbsup2

Jackie,

Hey - 3.5 miles is awesome!!!!:cheer2::cheer2: Since you already have 3.5 miles under your belt I know you could do a 1/2 next year! Long "runs" begin at 4 miles!

1. Other than WDW, what interests/hobbies do you have?

I love anything artistic. Whether it's crafts with the kids, sketching, painting, watermelon carving....I love it! I also really enjoy party planning. I plan LOTS of parties throughout the year and besides Disney trips, parties are SO much fun to do! I'm also very involved in a Bible Educational volunteer work that's being done around the world.

2. How old were you the first time you went on a Disney Vacation?

I was 7 years old when my family first brought us to WDW. We stayed offsite and drove from NY to Florida in our station wagon. It was one of the best trips I remember taking!

3. How many vacations have you planned other than your own?

I have planned a lot of vacations for my family and extended family from start to finish. I have no idea how many over the years.. I have to say that I answer more questions about WDW than plan full vacations. I don't think one day goes by that I don't answer at least one question from someone about Disney!

4. If you went to college, what was your major, and what do you do now?

When I went to college my main goal was to be able to support myself so that I could devote most of my time to volunteer work. I took an accelerated 6 week course in Graphic Design and went to work right afterwards in NYC. Now with two children I am a very busy SAHM.

5. If you could go back to school, what would you want to do?

If I had absolutely no other responsibilities I would go to school for computer graphics and animation. I would work my buns off and get a job at Pixar!

6. What is one thing you have on your "bucket" list?

I don't really have a "bucket list" per se, but I would LOVE to go on an ABD trip with my family some day!! I'd also love to start training again and work myself up to a runDisney Marathon!.

Your story sounds a bit like mine! I went to school to be a hairdresser so that I could support myself in volunteer Bible work! :)

On a sad note DD4 had to have her front tooth pulled (emergency) from damaging it in a fall and it becoming abscessed. :( Could really use a "good news" email!

That is exactly what my sister got into as well! She is a hairdresser and works 3 days per week so she can volunteer 70 hours per month.

So sorry to hear that!! :-( I'm guessing it was a baby tooth so at least a new one will grow in its place. Poor little girl!

That's great Jackie!! I used to run track in high school, but those days are long behind me. I started power walking and can do two miles, I agree when I start jogging there is stuff jiggling I didn't know there;) Maybe we can meet at our first Disney Marathon this year, if it's not sooner!!

Oof. That's a bummer. DD lost some of her teeth that way - fortunately, with baby teeth, the new ones will eventually grow in. Hope your DD feels better soon.

I'm not sure what I will be running next year just yet. We are hoping to fit in several Disney trips, which does lock up the budget just a bit. Right now, the only race on my calendar is the Goofy in January.

I plan on running the Illinois marathon again - I've run it every since it began, and it's a nice flat course. I'd like to run the CRUD trail ultra again, and I might start looking to see if I can score some cheap airfare to a Kentucky or Virginia race next fall.

At some point, I'll just have to go hog-wild, and run 6-8 marathons in the course of the year. Not too hard on me, but awfully hard on the pocketbook. :rotfl:

@surfergirl & Jackie - hey, those are some respectable distances. You are already on the path for a runDisney half in 2014. (Heck, if you really wanted to, you might be able to train in time for a runDisney half in the spring of next year, and you'd have plenty of time to be ready for the Wine & Dine next year.)

That is awesome!! :) Since having my little ones I don't get to do it full time, but now we get to do it as a family!:lovestruc

Yeah it was a baby tooth. It was just scary for her (and mommy) because they were just supposed to "check on it" and ended up saying "It has to go, NOW!"

Thanks so much!! She is getting spoiled today because of it, we went and got her a stroller that she has been asking for for her baby, and then her aunt and uncle bought her, and my DS2 some presents. She said "This has made my day better mommy!"

:rotfl: I almost recommended ice cream, but I'm pretty sure DD didn't want anything cold for a couple of days afterwards. She also ate really soft food for a few days.

Anyway, give her a big hug and spoil her. Don't know about you, but when the tooth fairy visited, she left a note that told DD she could keep the teeth (someplace safe), because they had come out too soon, but the tooth fairy left her a gift anyway. (And the going rate for teeth taken out by surgical extraction is much better than teeth lost in the normal way. :thumbsup2 )
