Pikester...I know we stayed at a Holiday Inn, I don't have the specifics, but can find it for you. They had an AMAZING pool area, but our room didn't have a fridge. But then you'd have to ask Wendy, since she had the super deluxe accomodations. I'm sure she had a fridge in addition to her sitting room, her spare bathrooom and everything else!

M&N....my AP is still good until the end of April....hmmm...I wonder if I could get a cheap flight and accomodations....now you have me thinking!

Do you happen to know if they had an ice machine? If they do then we can just bring a cooler. The pool is the number one important thing for me.

They definitely had an ice machine. And both Wendy and I had free breakfast vouchers, and we made full use of it. Very yummy!

I'm off. Have a good night!

Oh, are we going to try to have a toast on New Year's Eve? Maybe have a 10PM time to be on here and share a drink.

Pikester, if you make it down here, you can count me in on a meet. :cool1::cool1: And if you find any good, decent, and reasonable hotels, pass them along. :goodvibes

And if you're gonna be here on NYE, I'll make it a point to be here too.

MK, was it a breakfast buffet?

JOCA, it was a breakfast buffet. Both Wendy and I really enjoyed the fresh fruit. (of course, I also enjoyed the french toast, eggs and sausage among othr things. :rotfl2:)

We're supposed to have yucky weather on NYE, so I'll probably be here too!

With all the kids, we definitely need a breakfast buffet. :rotfl:

It's only suppose to be a slight chance of some snow here NYE. But when they say that, we usually end up with a blizzard.

We were to have snow showers here this am but nothing. Snow showers for Thurs-Fri and Sat! What is a snow shower anyway? Difference from snow flurries?

I've heard of it. Never really looked into it. I try to keep on top of things now. And it's working so far.

Good evening ladies! It has been a very good long weekend. We had a quiet Christmas day at home, just the 4 of us, until later in the evening when my step-DD, SonIL and GS came over to visit. It gets so quiet after the GS leaves! Santa was good to everyone. DD was very pleased that Santa brought her the big Breyer horse hauler she had wanted so bad plus a bit of other stuff. DS was pleased with all his music cds and a few pc games. He has already solved his first mystery as Sherlock Holmes and has been busy the last few days trying to take over the world.
My sister did not end up making it over for Christmas which was a bit disappointing but on Sunday we did go to her restaurant and get in a nice visit. I have lost track of how long it had been since we have seen each other. Several years obviously because I barely recognized her. It was really good to see her again.
Then today my friend who I have known for 40 years came to visit me. Truth be told she is more like a sister to me than my own sister. We had a wonderful visit. My DS did too since she has a beautiful DD.

They are 6 months apart in age. It was so great catching up on everything new and all the old stuff. We got on Facebook and looked up my first boyfriend. That was pretty funny. He was still pretty cute but a little gray and put on a little weight just like the rest of us. We also scoped out her ex and his new wifey. In typical ex ****** fashion he has the new wife and has been putting her before his child. He and DF's DD were planning a trip to San Francisco but he ended up taking the new step mom there as their honeymoon and left DF's poor DD out. What a jerk! While we were thinking of such painful things we even got around to a discussion comparing our side affects of pre-menopause. Needless to say, we had a good day reminiscing.

Pikester, I am glad your kids are feeling better. The new Wii sounds like lots of fun for the whole family.

JOCAmom, I was a cruel mom and made my DD hold off all the way until 9:30 before waking up everyone and opening gifts. Sorry that you have to deal with a selfish ex wife. I was always so glad I did not have children with either of my exes so I did not have any remaining ties to them!

DL55, oh boy! Vacation planning sounds like fun!

whgrn, sounds a bit excessive, especially for someone without a job. I hope you DD is feeling better by now.

LITC, I would love to see a photo of your mom. Very nice for you to get a break from DH's fathers. I think a little peace and quiet and curled up with a good book sounds wonderful vs the alternative.

MagiKitty, sounds like a wonderful holiday but a crappy day of driving. I agree. A GPS that gave out compliments would be a great invention! I like the sarcastic idea too.

D&D, glad you managed to survive the family festivities unscathed. We also usually try to teach the kids the importance of giving by having them pick out some little gifts. We went grocery shopping at Walmart right after we got back and never made it back out again. I forgot all about having DD pick out gifts for the boys. Maybe she will get her shopping done next year when we have no vacations in December. DH took DS out on Christmas Eve for their annual last minute shopping while it was snowing so at least DS ended up learning about the spirit of giving.
So how did you come out? Smarter than a 5th grader? I would be too scared to even try!

I just don't think I'm killing too many threads anymore. I don't go out there in the big DIS world and post too much. There's just not much need to do that with you all here.
That is so true! I barely read anything else on the Dis these days. Of course, now that I will not be researching for WDW I may actually have some extra time on my hands to venture out there. DL does not require nearly as much planning.
Guess you will have to count me out for any TKer meets any time soon. Too many places to go and not enough free time.... plus I just live too darn far south. On the other hand if anyone ever happens to be if the Fort Worth/Dallas area.... let me know!

Sukie, enjoy that vacation time!

BKMETV, that must have been pretty cool watching the Olympic Torch pass by.

Bad news after the holidays...... I am pretty sure I gained most of my 10 pounds that I lost back. Thankfully, I have just about had my fill of sweets. AND, DH is demanding that after New Years we get started back on a diet. I so hate that word!

However, Wendy, I have to agree with you that I feel much better when I am not filling myself full of things I shouldn't be eating anyway.

Marie---don't use that D*** word...it's a different eating habit. :rotfl:

I was logged off here when I tried to post on another thread! Then I could not log in. I was getting ready to log off aol when it did itself and restarted and this thread was still logged in for me! Just going crazy!

I like that way of thinking. Still won't make it any better when I am actually on one. Gotta do something though cause all this bloated feeling is getting old really fast. Just gotta finish off the coconut meringue pie that my sister sent home with me first.

Good morning folks. I guess you can tell I never got my nap in yesterday. As always I fell asleep in the recliner around 7:30.

This morning DH went back to work. Thank God! He is really excited about the new snowmobile he got yesterday. It is a 2010 Ski-Doo, MXZ- Adrenline, 1200 4 stroke, yellow and black. This will last him for the rest of his life :lmao:

My morning is off to a good start. Morf (my siamese cat) is right on time. 3:00am food time followed by me getting a cup of tea. After I am all awake he goes back to bed :rotfl2:.

So far I have a vension stew in the crock pot. The dishes are done and laundry going. I want to get the sheets changed and my room put back together. Vacuum and try that steam "Shark" that I got from my mom. Has anyone tried one before? Hopefull I can get this done before I go to my hair appointment at 9:45. It seems that when it gets to the afternoon I am all pooped out. :upsidedow

marie~ We all know that are mom's told us never to waste food!

DL55~ My DH does that same thing. I get upset especially in the winter when the person behind you can't stop that quick.

Eve~ I saw your picture on FB. Cool, that it was so close.

Hi :wave2: MagiKitty, M&N, JOCAmom, Wendy, Eve

:hourglass NYE~ 10:00pm~ Be there or be square

Sukie  I was just falling asleep and you were getting out of bed!! I've been having bad insomnia lately...think is menopause starting!!

Highway is still closed...we are planning a jammie day. DH got a blue ray for Christmas so I think we'll just watch movies.

I'm out on NYE so I'm afraid I'll miss the 10pm get together...have a drink for me.

Hope everyone has a great day.

You'll all be happy to know that I AM Smarter Than a 5th Grader!!!!:cool1: Won 1 milleeeon dollars!!!!
Today we're off to the Library and town hall to pay our taxes. What fun!

I would like to ask Magikitty and Wendy for the name of the hotel they stayed in and if it worked for you or if you would not stay there again. Also, during your travels were there other hotels that you saw that you would have liked to check out. I am looking for a place with a pool for the kids and that has a fridge. Looking for a good price too.

Pikester, if you make it down here, you can count me in on a meet. :cool1::cool1: And if you find any good, decent, and reasonable hotels, pass them along. :goodvibes
I can give ya the name of a good campground (cabins). ;) Racetrack was brave enough to stay w/ us last year. Although her accomodations were much more luxurious than ours!:snooty::rotfl2:

We may be vacationing close to home this year too. DH has a few rounds of lay-offs to make it through this spring so we're not planning much.
If anything we'd just visit BIL & SIL in Austin. I just don't want to have to go down there in the heat of summer. :crazy2: Way too hot for my blood.
Maybe a visit over Easter vacation (1st week of April) might be good.:scratchin We could get Marie, Bopsmom, Kerrie and maybe DL55 and do a nice SW TKer meet.

I'm with ya on the weight gain thing. With Disney Free Dining and all these delicious goodies around the house, I just haven't stopped eating. Yikes!

Now is this 10pm Eastern time or what??? That would be fun to all meet for a virtual drink. :drinking1

Morning!!! I can tell already that this should be an interesting day. The kids are in the basement playing which means in about 10 minutes they should be fighting.

Congrats D&DDisney on becoming a millionaire. So, are we going to WDW? And a southwest Tker meet sounds just wonderful.

Sukie, we are having venison burgers tonight for dinner. Our whole freezer is stuffed with ground venison so if you have any good recipes, pass them along please.

Ummm, aren't we about at the limit for this thread? MK, where are you??????

The 10 pm NYE meet here would be fun. Of course that would be 8 pm my time but I"ll be ready for a drink.
Sukie Stop mentioning all the things you plan to do. It may make me feel guilty enough to actually do something too.
mariezp We'll be at the DFW airport in April on our way to a southern Caribbean cruise. :upsidedow

It is snowing here. DH got up at 5:30 (for work), I asked him if there was snow. He said no snow yet when I got up 45 min later there was an inch of snow. I'm not sure he used his eyes. He's usually on auto pilot anyway.:lmao:
