Hey Race, mmmmm ice cream, i am jealous!!

I am feeling better today, still worried of course, but I think now that the initial shock of hearing that has gone away I don't feel as bad.

Just trying to get some stuff done around here before it gets to late, so far I have been very not productive today. :confused3

DD13 ate an entire pint of Haagen Daz ice cream. The joys of being young and having an insanely high metabolism. :lmao:

I have about an hour everyday that I feel productive and I'm not pregnant. I look around my house and realize how horrible it looks. Then I do this mad dash with all the kids to clean it. And then I don't really touch the house again until the next day. I make a horrible housewife. :rotfl2:

Race, except for the metabolism your DD and I sound alot alike!!!
I had a fit earlier today because I was trying to open a bag of chips, but between the carpal tunnel, the other wrist problem and the swollen hands I couldn't get it to open and I had to cut it. Boy did that make me angry!!! :lmao:

I'll trade you the ice cream for the chips. :goodvibes

I would have done the same thing and been just as mad about it. :lmao:

Hey, I thought I was the horrible housewife!

I usually do the mad dash about an hour before DH comes home. But, it's usually during the commercials while my soap is on.

DS8 is in bed and DS11 is out in the tent with his friend. They better behave themselves or heads will roll! We took everyone out to the Chinese Buffet place. Seemed like the easiest thing to do so that everyone could get what they liked. I love crab rangoon!

I would love to have some ice cream right now! Either a soft serve twist with chocolate jimmies in a cone or a pint of Ben&Jerry's Chubby Hubby would do.

LITC: Glad to hear that your feeling better.

racetrack, Disney54us and DL55!

I love going to our chinese food buffet too but for the crab legs. People are crazy there. They'll circle that buffet counter like hawks waiting for fresh crab legs.

Sounds like a fair trade to me, they are Quesadilla chips, and they are pretty good. They were the side dish to my magnificant bologna sandwiches I made for dinner. :rotfl:

OMG 24 hours away from the computer and you guys have chatted up 5 pages!! I am too brain dead to read it all now--I will go back and read tomorrow.

Here is the last installment of my Scotland TR. I can't believe I am home already. *sigh*

Friday August 7 Edinburgh and St. Andrews

Having gone to bed at about 9:15, I woke up bright and early, at 6:30. After breakfast, we were on our way out to St. Andrews, home of golf. We stopped along the way at the Forth Bridge, in the tiny medieval town of South Queens Ferry. The road is basically one lane through town, and we had to pass a septic truck! But we got past with inches to spare, and continued on our way.

In St. Andrews, we stopped by the Old Course for photos, and to use the bathrooms (and pay 30p for the privilege, which should have meant clean bathrooms, but didn’t). We saw the clubhouse, the putting greens, and the first hole, and then headed into town for some sightseeing. St. Andrew’s Cathedral (which is in ruins from the time of the Reformation) was huge and really beautiful. The cemetery has graves from hundreds of years ago, sadly many were children under 2 years old. St. Rules’ Tower, next to the cathedral, was also very interesting. We then walked over to St. Andrews’ Castle, along the shoreline. What a view!! We walked through St. Salvator’s college, part of the University of St. Andrews. I just love the old buildings. Sort of like Yale and Princeton, although a bit older.

I walked around with Bob & Lorel and Steve & Marcia, since I didn’t want to be alone. They were headed for lunch at The Doll House, which sounded good to me, so I went along (I hope they didn’t mind my intrusion!) I had a nice mini-salad of tomatoes and mozzarella with some chips, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert (I just love that stuff!) After lunch we walked through town. They are having a street fair, so there were kids’ rides and other attractions, a lot of people, and a lot of noise!

We found the St. Andrews Golf Shop, which was exactly what I needed. I got an Old Course golf shirt for Laura, along with a ball, ball marker, and some tees. She will love it! Then I made my way back to the meeting point, where everyone was sitting along a wall with their bags. Karen said she has never seen so many bags coming out of St. Andrews--guess we must have a lot of golfers!

Back to the hotel, and I decided to run out and get some water bottles for tonite, since getting anything up at the castle will be close to impossible. I wanted to see what I could find for Danny, since I have gotten a bunch of things for Laura and almost nothing for him. I found a great Scottish Football (rugby) jersey, which I am sure he will like. All through the mall area and courtyard, they have the ‘Signspotting Project’, with crazy signs from all over the world, where the English translation doesn’t quite make it. Things like “Warning: Free Range Children”, and “Evacuation Route…Do Not Enter”. They were really funny!

I went back up to my room to pack. It really didn’t take long, since all my dirty clothes are already in the laundry bag, and all my souveneirs are packed into the small suitcase. While I was packing, the fire alarm rang! This is getting to be a habit when I stay at the Balmoral! (it happened last year too, just after we arrived). I know that they have frequent alarms here, and I also knew there was no way in hell I was climbing down six flights of stairs, so I stayed put and hoped I would not need to be rescued from a 6th floor window!
The reception and dinner were very nice. It was sort of sad though, knowing that this would be the last time I would see most of the people. We toasted Karen for being a great tour guide, and then Elizabeth, for being a great sport about losing her luggage. Karen told us that we were “The” group this year. The meal was good--caprese salad, yummy salmon, and strawberries. I was glad we would have the chance to walk it off!

We walked up to the castle, and it was a mob scene all the way up the High Street! Bertween the Festival and Tatoo, there were just people everywhere. Tatoo was AWESOME! There were all different kinds of groups, from pipe bands to regular bands to singers to dancers, even one band that was all drums (and they were great!) They even played Amazing Grace, which all ways gives me chills played on the bagpipes. The best was when the entire group of pipe bands played all together.

The VIP boxes were just above us, and one box must have been a bunch of diplomats, because they were seriously dressed up, and there was a woman in some sort of oriental dress. The one guy there stood at the end of each group’s performance, and the spotlight would go on him, and he would salute the band. I think he must have been the Lord Provost of Edinburgh or something, but in any event it was pretty cool. At the end there were fireworks, and then the lone piper playing from up on the castle wall--kind of surreal. The bands marched out playing ‘Scotland The Brave’.

The huge mob leaving the stadium was so civilized, and we noticed there was no litter at all. As we walked down the Royal Mile, the crowd thinned out a bit, and once we turned onto North Bridge, it wasn’t bad at all. At the hotel, we all said goodbye. I will miss all these people, as I really enjoyed being with them. Some poor folks have to leave at 6 am!! I was glad to have a late flight, and a 9:45 pickup.

Saturday August 8 Edinburgh to Freehold

I slept until 7 and took my time getting down to breakfast. My last meal in Scotland. For some reason that didn’t sit well with me, and I ended up having a stomach ache until halfway home on the plane. Anyway, after breakfast I went back to the room to pack my kilt and organize all my receipts, and then took a nap for about an hour. I rode to the airport with 3 other couples from the group, and 2 of them were on my flight. I opted not to go to the VIP lounge, preferring instead to hang out with them a little longer. At the gate, I got pulled aside to have my carryon bags searched. I wonder why??

The plane was freezing and I wore my jacket most of the way home. I was glad I had it with me. They served us lunch, and the fish seemed the least objectionable. It was awful though, I only ate one bite. I slept for an hour or so, and read an entire book, and was starting to get hungry when they brought out a “snack” of focaccia with chicken and cheese that was to die for, and some fresh fruit. I do believe it was the best food I ever ate on a plane!

When we landed, we had to be towed to the gate. That was certainly a new experience! I went through customs, and got pulled aside AGAIN! Apparently the fact that I said yes, I have food (shortbread and candy) put me in the “something to declare” line, and my bags had to be x-rayed. I don’t know what they thought they were gong to see! We had landed quite early, so even with that brief delay, I was home by about 4. Another successful trip!

I so don't feel like going grocery shopping tomorrow! My plan is to be out of the house by 7:30am but I haven't even made my grocery list yet so I guess I'll be doing that in the morning before I leave.

I can't understand how I can buy all this food and have nothing left in like 3 or 4 days! Oh wait, I have 2 boys with one being a tween. Never mind.

Quesadilla chips....mmm those sound good. Now you all are making me hungry. And all the good snacks are gone until I go food shopping on Monday.

Wendy, I can't believe you are home already. Good food on an airplane? Must have been your lucky day. :lmao:

Well welcome home Wendy-glad you had such a wonderful trip. Can't wait to see some pictures. I loved reading your TR, you are so dedicated to write from over there every day!

Welcome home Wendy! I just had to go over to youtube so that I could find Amazing Grace on the bagpipe. What a beautiful song!

I'm heading out of here tonight. I rented The Breakfast Club from Netflix to watch with DD13.

Night all!!!

Welcome back Wendy! I feel as if I was there too. My DH has played St Andrews, he still talks about it.

I am assuming everyone is out have fun/at church this summer morning. :cool2:

Just got in from church and taking our adopted Granny out to eat at the IHOP. I should be glued to this chair for some time... more like I won't be able to get myself out of the chair after the loaded plate of strawberry and banana pancakes I had. Gosh it was good though!

Welcome home Wendy! Oh boy! Now we will get to see pictures! Gonna have to go look for bagpipes playing Amazing Graze. As bad as I sing we once sang that song in a tomb and it was amazing! Great song no matter how you do it.

I hope everyone is having a happy and blessed afternoon.

Well I am finally caught up with you Chatty Cathys!

Pikester, I am so so very sorry for your loss. You too Sukie. Prayers for all of you.

LITC, sorry you are feeling poorly. And can I just say that I do NOT have carpal tunnel, or swollen hands, or anything else, and I often have a heck of a time trying to open a bag of anything!! Frustrating as all get out.

I slept until 7:15 today. Now it's nearly 10 pm and I am wide awake. Maybe I will overcome this jet lag faster than usual...

I talked to DD today. She begged me to send her a package. i asked what I should send and she said "Anything!" Well, that was really helpful! I have no ideas of what to send. I checked all the teen magazines at WalMart and there is nothing worth reading. I may just send her her Bon Appetit magazine that came in the mail. She comes home Saturday, so it isn.t like she is pining away for anything!

I will talk to DS tomorrow. No one has heard from him. I had one letter before I left, and nothing since. Hopefully he is just having too much fun to write home!

Went and had dinner with Mom and Dad tonite. It was good to see them after being away. Dad was thrilled with his tin of haggis! I am going to try to find a recipe for it and surprise him by making him at Christmas.

Well, I suppose I should think about going to bed. Don't talk too much tonite (and you KNOW who you are!) or I will be 5 pages behind again before I know it!

Good morning to you all!

I would like to share a "stupid moment" that happened to me this morning. At about 9:00am I decided to go for my 30 minute walk that I've been trying to do atleast 4 days a week. I decided that I would leave the kids home as long as they could behave themselves. No sooner did I get "Sure Mom, well be fine" then they were at each other. Fine! I yelled at DS8 to go change his clothes and get in the car. I grabbed my purse, water bottle and keys, headed out to the car, got in, started up the van, put it in reverse, stepped on the gas and....BAM!!!!

It seems I forgot to open the garage door!

Van looks OK(a couple of spots where the white paint rubbed off from the door to the van, a small hole in the bumper where a screw from the door went in it) but the garage door is not. I broke a pane of glass and splintered atleast two panals of the wooden door. I called DH at work to tell him what happened and he was very calm about it; thank goodness. He plans to come home early to see the damage.

So, how is everyone else's day going so far?

Tonight's the night!!! Kitty becomes a star!!!!:cool1: Go Kitty! We can't wait to see ya!

I hope I dont sound like to much of a complainer right now, especially with so many others experiencing so much worse but it's been a yucky week.
I have been feeling sick allot this week, and I thought that part was long over. So in addition to the backaches and achy knees and hips now I am feeling nauseous again.
Also DH is going through some stuff at work ( too much to type all out here) but it could go as far as him losing his job. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Here we are less than two months from becoming parents, I am not working the second job anymore due to it being to much on my body right now, and this could happen? I only make half of what he brings home and my company does not even offer health insurance. Not to mention that I realy really wanted to try to stay home after the baby is born, and this probably absolutely outs that out of reach for us. Because even if he stays employed with the company he will be changing positions and losing a significant amount of his salary. I'm absolutely sick about all of this. This morning when I found out I just broke down. I am actually afraid of being this upset and nervous, I am afraid that I am hurting the baby.
I think I had mentioned it before, but I too was sick the last month or so before DS was born. More so than any morning sickness. I was HUGE, uncomfortable, nausiated, lathargic, etc. I can so relate to you and pray that the next few weeks go by quickly for you. Don't worry about complaining.

Oh Pike...after all you've been through and now this. I think you need more than a  right now. You need some of these :drinking1

Whgrn - Welcom back! Can't wait to see your pics.

Race - Did I see that you may be doing a Disney Cruise???:boat: So cool!!! Again, we'll live vicariously through you.

:wave:Hello Marie, DL55, M&N, Disney54us, and all others checking in!

Oh Pikester! Sounds like things are not going smoothly for you. To try to cheer you up, I'll tell you my family experience....My sister was learning to drive and drove right into the garage door. It was a solid wood door. No major damage to the car but the wood frame of the door was busted. We didn't want Dad to know (don't know how he'd miss the big mark on the door ). We had a neighbor come over and he braced the frame back together so we could open the door. I can't remember if my Dad noticed or not. But I know he did take well when we eventually told him.
