Bopsmom...I would love to meet with you and the girls, but this weekend is the family celebration of my Dad's birthday. My brother and his family have returned from Georgia, and my sister and cousins may be up here also. Darn! I don't normally have plans!

I personally love the subway, but it can get pretty hairy. Most stations have cops, so feel free to stop them and ask for help. I love City Pass! I've never done it in NYC, but I have in LA and it was wonderful. One tip from me, if you do plan to go to the top of the Empire State building, go at night. Its absolutely gorgeous and I always pretend I'm Meg Ryan from Sleepless in Seattle.

M&N...thanks for asking about Edward. He actually proposed to me the other day. The boy is getting desperate! :rotfl2: BF was NOT thrilled to hear that another man is proposing to me. Edward's work basically messed up. Its too late for him to file an extension and he cannot be sponsored by another work. So he's looking into getting a student visa, at least until he can find another job that is willing to sponsor him. Its a huge mess and I feel so bad for him.

In regards to Cirque, as an AP holder, I have to call in to get the promo. I also have to ask for handicapped accessible seats. So I'm at Disney's mercy for the time being...

Awwww Mannn!:sad1: I hoped you'd come!

I never get to travel and all you guys get to go everywhere *stamps feet*

I told DM that we will give the Subway a try-Hell, if I can do it in Paris I guess I can manage when they speak my own language!

We have been to the Empire State Bldg before so this time it's Top of the Rock for us. We are going to Cruise the island, go to Upper West Side on Saturday (You've Got Mail area-other Meg Ryan movie) and go to Orchard Street on Sunday. I

will report back on the City Pass and the hotel. We loved the passes in San Diego so I hope they work for us in NY.

If all is good maybe we can do the Spring trip-DD's 13th birthday is end of March (mine Bday too) so maybe we can go back then.

Millionaire put me up at a hotel on West 79th and Amsterdam. On the way there, we passed by Riverside Park--the site of the last scene of You're got Mail! I was so excited! I'm usually driving past to get the heck out of Manhattan, so I never noticed it!

You are going to have such a good time this weekend! So excited for you! I've never done top of the Rock, and I've always wanted to do the NBC tour there....try to make it into the NBC store, great opportunities for funny pics-they have stuff from the shows (at least they did last year).

I love the cruise around the city!

Okay DL55... How do you say "I got the job!!!" in Spanish???

I'm sure you can handle it. We definitely need a tr! You know how we are!
Maybe thr TKers can get to NYC in the spring!

Evening!!! I just got home from taking the kids to Musikfest. I don't know why I did either. I always hate it there but I thought it would be nice to get out for a little. Food is outrageously priced. Spent 5.00 for a small 12oz slushee. 3.00 for a pb&j...no chips or anything, just the sandwich. And I didn't even check out the beer prices. Last time I was there, it was 5 or 6 for a small cup. The kids want to go tomorrow. I might have to take out a small load just to feed us there. :rotfl2:

D&D CONGRATS ON THE JOB!!!! Guess I can uncross my fingers now.

Bopsmom, the idea for a tker NYC meet in the spring was thrown around here a little bit ago. It would be awesome if everything works out and you and DD can make it too. And stop talking in Spanish....I have enough problems with English. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

racetrack18kb, if you make it this far south you will have to bring Curt fishing at our place. We have a stock tank behind our house. We seldom catch anything but whenever company comes over they always do pretty good.

You know....accidents do happen. ;)
I can vouch for that! DD is my little proof. We are NOT having another accident after this one turns 10 though.

Congratulations on the job D&DDisney! Good luck learning Spanish now.

Gotta run finish supper.......

Good evening...no one on...alone again!

I was thinking Racetrack---you need a Missing SCHBR'smom. I think she hasn't posted in a while??? I don't think we made he mad or anything??? :confused3

Thanks for the reminder...must get picks in...

I did too. Road races are trickier. How about the special pick 5 thing...I think it's the last time to get in on that. I asked about it just now.

I saw your question there. I think they have nothing to do with each other. In the make-up picks, you just can't pick the same guy more than once.

That musikfest sounds more expensive than Disney! I think places like that just know they have you captive there and take advantage. The reason I liked going to the Apple Festival was eating! I know the apple slushie was $2 but don't think it was 12 oz.

The idea of musikfest is great. Music and food from all over the world. Tonight we listened to oldies, pop/rock, country, classical, & celtic. And just about every kind of food you can imagine.

So the only cost is the food? Are they local groups playing?

yes, the only cost is the food. But it's hard to walk around without wanting to sample this and sample that. :rolleyes1

There are local or little known performers. And each night, they have a well-known famous performer. Those performances you have to buy tickets for just like a regular concert. Earlier in the week, they had David Cook. I also know Crosby, Stills, & Nash are there later this week.

I want to go to Hershey on Sunday but there will be a group-Creed-in the football stadium right there so I'm sure they won't let me park in the near lot and it will be packed when I want to leave. I think the concert isn't until later but they save the spaces.

Creed is pretty good. It's one of the few non-country bands that I like.

We've been to Hershey 2x when they've had concerts. Once for Tim McGraw/Faith HIll when we've had tickets. I think that was the most crowded I've ever seen the park. We were also there many years ago when Dave Mathews played in the stadium. That wasn't too bad because for some reason those concert goers didn't really visit the park.

Who's playing at Hershey this Sunday?

A local group is playing this week. I thought they were last week! They have 3 shows that are all different. I like them. They will play at our local fair later this month but I don't get to that...it's only about 4 blocks from here!

Our local fair is coming up too. I love going there. Tons of rides that are very expensive but there is so many other things going on that I can distract the kids from them. It's very "country" with farm animals and contests, a whole building filled with crafts and such that people made to win ribbons. We spend at least a couple of hours looking at everything.

They use to have all those weird world's smallest pony type exhibits too. Costs only 50 cents or so to see that stuff. It was fun and the kids all got a kick out of it. But over the years, they've gotten rid of all that stuff.

Night M&N!!!! Don't forget to make your picks for the other NASCAR thread.

Magikitty, I wanted to comment on this earlier but I totally missed it. I saw that John Hughes died today too. I'm sorry to say that I never realized he was the director on all those great movies from my teen years. Oh the memories. Strange thing is, for the past week or so, one of our local tv stations have been playing National Lampoons Vacation every night. I made my kids keep it on the first night and now we have watched it every time it's been on. They love it now and can even recite some of the dialogue with me. :) I might just have to rejoin netflix and rent some of the other goodies out there.
