I remember a while ago reading posts on tipping. It's been awhile since I was on the boards, but now I am back. My question is : Is there anyone who does not tip? We stayed at Coronado Springs about 3 or 4 years ago. I didn't even think about tipping it just never crossed my mind. Now that we are going back, I was just wondering how many people do or don't.

We always leave and tip and we do it everyday so that we won't miss anyone. It may sound cheap but we leave 1 dollar for each person in our room which is usually 3, each day. I try to keep the room picked up and clean. If we've gotten cookie crumbs (or any number of snack foods) on the carpet I leave a little extra. I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't, and I don't know that we are expected to but I think the housekeepers appreciate it. It's your choice. I think they will do a good job regardless.

We tip ... usually $2-$3/day. It's just my boyfriend and myself and I think we're try to keep our room clean :p On the last day, we'll leave an extra $1 or $2 because of the extra work.

That isn't cheap, I leave each day 1 dollar per person, anymore then that and my room would becomes even more costly then it is. I understand the MK rely on tips but lets face it, the price of a room to stay at DW isn't chopped liver. I do what my pocket allows me to do and that's that. :D

Hi - I am a tipper but I find the daily tipping does not work well - even if I leave it in a obvious place, with a note etc... sometimes no one picks it up

So last trip I tipped the housekeeper in person $75.00 which covered the whole time period - I know there may be other housekeepers on other days - but I kept seeing this lady "Isabel" working all the time and her name was on the little introduction card on the vanity in our room.

It was so much easier (and more personal) than leaving it daily - as sometimes you forget and feel bad or have to return to the room to do it.

Had to add my 2 cents worth here. This will be our first trip to disney so I can't speak from experience on that, but when we stay at other hotels we usually tip 1-2 dollars a day and 5 on the last day. Several years ago 10+, I worked as a maid at a resort hotel in Branson, MO. Let me say that if we got a tip at all a day from one room we were excited, and we usually cleaned anywhere from 18 -30 a day. So unless it has changed drastically over the years I would say there are still quite a few people who don't tip.

Officially housekeeping is not listed by Disney as a "tipped" position. I generally tip but I assume many people don't.

I was wondering about tipping too. I have never tipped housekeeping, exept on a cruise, but then again, I have never stayed at a resort. I saw one thread that had a cool link to special envelopes just for tipping the MouseKeepers. But of course, I forgot to save the link. :(

Thank you TiggerPiglet!! I saved the link this time! Those are so fun! And I think it will be hard for MouseKeeping to miss, as >>^..^<< mentioned. And thanks to this thread, I also know how much to put in them. :p

I am usually a large tipper - that being said no one should feel obligated to tip the housekeeper at any resort. It is not the same as a position that is considered a tipped position.

For example if you do not tip the wait staff at a restraunt - you actually can cost them money - in many places they are taxed based on the gross receipts of the place. So if you do not leave 15% not only do they not get that money - but they are taxed for it.

Housekeeping is not this way - they are not taxed on tips.

Again - this is up to each individual - I tip large - I tip often - because I love to see the joy it brings to those not expecting it!

My wife and I tipped our MK, and even traded notes. When she found out it was our honeymoon, she left us a Mickey beanie, and we gave her chocolates from Giradelli, she was great. The stuffed animals were all done up in little scenes when we got back. I think having a MK that cares about the guests makes the trip even better, and our MK certainly cared about us :)

I agree. Our mousekeeper during our stay at WL was outstanding and our experience was very similar to yours. We tipped her daily and generously. Some of our best memories from our trip are from our mousekeeper and the wonderful service and surprises she gave us. She was absolutely the best we've ever had!

I missed that personalized service at OKW this trip. The housekeeping really was marginal at best and for the first time I never tipped after the first day.

I'm from the u.k whenever we are out in the usa we tip everyone
In the u.k we are told to tip or we could get in touble (when I booked the first holiday there virgin told us that ) , when we get the bill and 15% is added on we still give more which we like to do because the people are so nice . we always make sure the maid takes the tip by putting a note by it. most of them leave a note saying thankyou ! Well the maids do work hard !
