Hi all!

I'm curious as to how tipping works on the DCL. I've heard that it's included, and the same goes for alcohol -- their tip is included in the price. So is tipping considered 'proper' or one of those things you should do, on the ships? Does it work differently for alcohol? Any help on this stuff would be great, it's our first time in August so we're still newbies to this whole thing. :) Thanks!!!

Tipping is not included in the cost of your cruise, but you can prepay the tip. You can also pay on board at anytime. We usually wait until the end of the cruise to give our tips, just in case we want to add or subtract a bit. You will be given the suggested tip amounts with your documents.

As for alcohol, there is a 15% gratuity added to your tab for alcohol purchases. This is automatic.

I hope this helps.

Tips are about $11 per person per day. This is split between your Server, Assistant Server, Head Server and Stateroom Host/Hostess. You can charge this amount to your shipboard account or you can use cash. You will receive envelopes for each position near the end of your cruise. You will either put cash in the envelopes or the stubs from the receipts you get when you charge them.

A 15% gratuity is added to every drink order on board. There will be a line on the slip where you can add an extra tip, if you choose to.

Tips are included with drink orders and Palo reservations, though you may add more for exceptional service. Tips for your servers in the main dining rooms and the stateroom hosts work out to about $11 per person per day. Also expect to tip a couple dollars for room service orders.
