We were up at 7am and as I had no lunch or dinner the day before I was starving, so consequently it only took us 45 mins to shower, dress, unpack . We looked at a map of the Poly and found out we were only 5 mins walk from the monorail at the transportation and ticket centre, so we walked over and hopped onto a train to my fav park, Epcot. The journey was quick and easy and within 15 mins we were at Epcot, where we planned to have breakfast first. BUT the lure of test track was just too great a pull, so we went over and jumped on twice in a row with very little wait. We also got fast passes for later. We then had breakfast by the Garden Grill and have to say it was not good at all. We all had pastries, which were a tad dry and drinks. It was very busy and everything seemed very rushed, the servers were not their usually friendly selves. Just didnt seem worth the money.
After that we did the character interaction thingy, where you queue and take pictures with about 6 characters. The wait was minimal, about 20 mins and the characters were fun. The thing I liked about it was that every time a disabled kid started to queue they let them go to the front. Two went in front of us and you could see the pure pleasure on their faces and I was only too pleased to let this happen.
As I have a Premium Annual Pass (20% discount) it seemed a crime not to shop and while we were in Mousegear the heavens opened and as rain was predicted for the rest of the day, Em and I shopped and shopped some more. We had decided to take the bags back to the room and rest while it was raining so that was a signal to me to help the US economy and spend, spend spend before we left! About 2 hours later we emerged laden down, newly purchased ponchos on and waded our way to the monorail, having lost Jan and Toby.
I had brought Em and Toby colouring sets from the Disney store, so we spent a couple of hours, snoozing, colouring and just laughing around with the video camera, while the rain was pouring outside.
Emily at the Floridian
The Gingerbread House at the Floridian
This evening we had dinner booked at Narcoossees, which was just a monorail journey away. I love this restaurant as I love getting dressed up and I love the Floridian, its just a picture postcard hotel! Em and Toby fell in love with the Ginergerbread house, the pianist and just about everything in the Floridian. We went to Narcoossees and did not have to wait long before we were seated, but the queue behind us was long, with very little waiting area.
The food and service was very good but I noticed that many people do not dress up in any way now to go there, which is a shame as it adds to the adventure. I cannot remember what we ate, but Jan had fish and Em, Toby and myself had steak and all was very good.
When we left the restaurant, the rain had stopped but it was now absolutely freezing, so we rushed back to our room to get warm. Unfortunately the cold weather carried on throughout most of our holiday.
