Somewhere I heard there is a time zone change on the Fantasy eastern cruise. Does anyone know if that is true?

There is a time change on the Western Caribbean, but not Eastern. I've been to Bermuda and there's a time change there too, but the Eastern Caribbean islands aren't that far east.

Never had a time change on an eastern sailing and we have sailed that itinerary several times. Some western cruises we have taken did have a time change, but our most recent January western cruise did not.

Depends on time if the year. The Virgin Islands are in Atlantic Standard Time - neither US nor British VI observe Daylight Savings Time.

The March 2023 had clock changes on Days 2 and 5 during the night (before and after visiting the VI ports).

There are actually two Eastern Caribbean itineraries: St. Maarten/San Juan, and Tortola/St. Thomas. I was on the SM/SJ one last September and did not have a time change. I did the T/ST one in 2018; I remember something about a time change, but we also sailed the day Daylight Savings rolls back, so it might have been related to that (and I can't recall if there was a time change, it might have been we were speculating about one).

If there is a time change, there will be announcements about it in the app and on your stateroom TV (usually telling you to put your clocks back/forward an hour when you go to bed).

We have sailed both eastern itineraries and a couple different ones on 8 night eastern cruises and never had a time change. We sailed in September, October and May.

We sailed to St. Thomas & St. Kitts (on another line) last year over Thanksgiving and we did have a time change.

Cruising out of Galveston in January, "Ship's time" will remain same as Galveston time, right? Even though time in ports of call is different?

If you get a notice to change your clock before going to bed - ship’s time is changing.
That usually is done to match port time. Less confusion for returning passengers.

They have signs up as you exit the ship. And the Cruise Director makes an announcement of these things in the WDTheater the night before and overhead in the morning, also on the ship show on TV in the morning.

Thanks! We cruised with another line with ports of call in Belize, Honduras and Mexico a few years ago, and they made a big deal of there being an hour's difference between ship's time and port time, with the ship being an hour earlier. Sure enough, we were watching from our dockside balcony as several parties came running up thinking they were just in time for onboard, when really they had almost missed the ship!

I have sailed with those situations. It always seems to cause confusion.

Not in our experience on DCL cruises. Ship’s time has always adjusted to port or local time (even for sea days on the ocean crossings).

We didn’t have one two weeks ago on the San Juan/St Maarten itinerary
Those ports are in the Atlantic time zone; The Fantasy is out of PC which is in the Eastern time zone. The Atlantic time zone doesn't "spring ahead" so the two time zones are on the same time when daylight saving time is in effect.
