Tiana's Bayou Adventure Opening Day

Reminds me of when Rise opened and the huge amount of guests that would leave the park at 8:01am after being unable to obtain Virtual Queue they would even have to open more exit gates. Guest would go to DCA or back to hotel and rest before returning to try again if park hoppers.
I don't understand this. You didn't need to be in the park to get a ROTR VQ and you don't need to be in the park to get a HMH or TBA VQ at 7 am. You only need to have a reservation for DL that day. Why would people walk in and then leave?

When they first opened ROTR before covid, you did have to enter the park first in order to try for the VQ. I remember standing there on Main Street with the rope drop crowds as everyone stood there staring at their phones at 8AM instead of rushing to rides. There would be a collective cheer and a collective groan that would rise up a few seconds later.

Oh, I didn't realize that.

I really hoped there wouldn’t be a virtual queue because WDW opened earlier and it’s winter…
Or that the haunted mansion queue would be ready by then…

My main concern is when to try for Tiana’s… I need to take additional clothing to change after getting (potentially) soaked…
but I don’t wanna carry it every day because I might not get it…
Oh I really need to make a good plan…
I guess I‘ll end up renting a locker but for all 5 days it seems like a little waste of money…
Oh boy… I am torn… gotta sit down and think it through…

Since you can try for the VQ at 7am, if you don't get it then you don't have to worry about needing a change of clothes.

The problem I see with VQ is not being able to plan your day, since you don't know when or if you will get called.

She can try again at 12noon but of course that most likely means late night ride if any.

I agree with you about planning day.

@B3rlingirl will you have LLMP? If so, you can use that for TBA.

How to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens

Upon its grand opening, joining the complimentary virtual queue,* accessible only via the Disneyland app,** is required to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. A standby queue will not be available during the attraction’s initial opening days.

The virtual queue enrollment times will be twice daily, at 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. PT. More information and how-to details on the virtual queue system is available at Disneyland.com.
You may also get quicker entry to this attraction by booking an arrival window and using the Lightning Lane entrance with the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass, subject to availability.***

I remember this. It was so surreal!

I am hoping they will open the HM queue by the end of November. Does anyone who has been to the parks lately think that may be an option. From what I see on Freshbaked's Vlogs it doesn't look like they have that much more to do and they do have 4 more weeks.

I don't expect it to be open until, at the earliest, when it reopens as OG HM in January/February.

Disneyland updated their website.

There are 3 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure:

  • 12:00 PM (Noon) - Guests inside Disney California Adventure Park with a Park Hopper ticket or inside Disneyland Park can request to join the virtual queue
  • 4:00 PM - Guests inside Disney California Adventure Park with a Park Hopper ticket or inside Disneyland Park can request to join the virtual queue

I saw one lady wear shoe covers.

Personally, I took my socks off, I had tennis shoes that are cloth like with hole patterns. My R foot got wet, but it wasn't uncomfortable. Maybe wear flip flops?
I didn't need a poncho, my right forearm was slightly wet, but I had on a long sleeve shirt. I didn't get drenched, and I was in seat #4 with only 5 people in the log.

Looks like we all might need to buy these.
You could make money selling those!

We rode Tiana's again today. This time I was more prepared. The first time, I changed into running shorts and flip flops. This time I changed and added a poncho on top. Additionally, I put my phone in a Ziploc inside of my backpack which was inside a plastic shopping bag. I wasn't taking any chances!

In the queue, there was a video with instructions how to board the logs. It instructed guests to put ponchos on before boarding. I would guesstimate that at least 50% of the riders had ponchos on. Many were wearing Crocs, flip flops or rain boots. Several had plastic bags (ex. shopping bags or trash bags with ties.). They put the bags over their shoes and tied them just below their knee or at their ankle.

There was a pool of water in the log when we boarded. I sat in seat four. The front person ended up getting drenched. After the first drop, I was wet from my knee down. I also got wet on the top of my head and my face. It didn't bother me, but I'm mentioning it in case it might bother others. For the rest of the drops, I put the poncho hood on and was fine. We didn't have any large waves dumping into our log. Regardless, I'm glad I changed shoes.

When we were leaving the parks, we walked past CurlSurf in DTD. They had a display in front indicating that they sold ponchos.

Is this for when it officially opens or for MK previews?
