We stayed our 1st night onsite Sat. Moved offsite Sunday. Left the paper work in the window and we were waved through everyday. So 4 magic bands and 5 days parking.

So you didn't ever get your parking passes from resort? You just the paper work you printed from your online check-in?

I think by "paperwork" they checked in and got the parking pass, but the parking attendants didn't check the dates...

I believe there is at least a rumor that parking at the parks will also get tied to MagicBands to validate...

Not really looking to try and park on the days that aren't allowed. I just don't want to have to actually go to the resort to do check in. I was hoping to just do the online check in. Our check-in day is our first park day and we wouldn't be allowed to check in until 4:00 p.m. anyway. We have a reservation for 10. Would they allow 3 cars with a party of that size?

You CAN check in before 4pm. They just don't guarantee a room before 4 (and frankly, sometimes not even then...)

So you CAN get your parking pass. However, I don't know how many "cars" you get with a reservation other than one.

You can check in as early as 6:30 am.

It just boggles me that Disney's revenue management are giving MBs for single night room reservations at. I can see them changing it only being free if resort booked as a a package( parks), with min days like FD. From a cost/benefit. What is the point of a band for a one nignt hotel stay?? Yes it's cool, we want them, but so does Disney look at costs. A one night res. Is not bringing them much revenue. Esp. A campsite for 9 people.

I can see them changing this. If they are saving on printed napkins, some one internally by them will bring this one up. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm sure they know what they are doing. This isnt an oversight. What you can take from it is that the "cost" of the band is more like pennies. Not dollars. And they, Disney, have determined that there s added value to the bands such as guests tending to spend more, etc.

And think of the resort marketing. People who never stay onsite may finally try a Disney resort for a night and love it. It's a sample of the magic.

Disney isnt losing money. I think they've figured out their financial model by now. :thumbsup2 they're good business people. Someone probably got a promotion for suggesting this plan. I bet the bands are already a sunk cost of sorts. The money isn't in the cost of the bands....it's in the value of guests using them.

Online check-in or physical check-in?

And can you print a parking pass with online check-in, or can you only get that if you physically check in?

Physically, for both. You cannot print your parking pass.

That all may be true, but there is still more value for Disney in a guest booking and using their resort room. So I wouldn't be surprised if they do change the system in the not so distant future.

I just wanted to post…because Im sure there are some in my shoes.
We are staying off property for 2 weeks in June and my dd's and I have a 2 night stay (in the middle of the 2 week stay) booked at AOA. DD wanted to try and enjoy that resort, but the guys were not going to come.
I had booked the guys a 1 night stay at ASMu on Orbitz for about $107 so that they could also get the Magic Bands and we could all book our FP+ together. This was a LONG time ago before they were offering the 30 FP+ booking for offsiters and the ability to purchase MB's.
As I was going over things for our trip recently, I realized that I could save about $40 if I cancelled the guys room and just purchased the MB's and parking for those 2 days.
I was afraid that if I did cancel, I would lose all our FP+ for them. I called WDW and the IT CM said to wait until we were under our 30 day mark and we wouldn't lose the FP+ I had booked a while back. I was very nervous, but did it anyway.
All of our FP+ stayed intact, thankfully. The CM said that the FP+ was tied to our tickets and not our room reservation.
Just wanted to post in case anyone else was nervous about canceling.

I didn't plan on physically checking in for ours but we had issues with other reservations the day we left, I wasn't taking the chance of losing any ADRs or FP+s because that would've been our luck.

When we got to the campgrounds, I was able to get 2 parking passes for 2 cars. We had 9 people (2 kids) split between the 2 cars and she didn't hesitate

I've been trying to figure something out for our upcoming trip and sounds like you guys might know. I'm not booking a throwaway room, our trip is a split stay-half at a disney resort and half at Shades of Green. When I make ADRs will it be the whole +10 days or only the first five days we are on property? Same question on FP+-can I do all on the 60 day mark or will I only be able to do the first five days and then have to start again at 30 days for the second part of our stay?

The ADRs will be the length of stay for your resort portion and then off-site portion will be 180 for each day. With the FP+, if your resort stay is first, you will be able to make FP+ for the length of your stay for the resort portion and then 60 days for each day of your off-site stay. For each day of your off-site stay you will have to log on to book FP+. But as of right now, you will be able to do that at 60 days for each day.

we leave tomorrow for DISNEY yay!!! have our throwaway room on Tuesday (first park day)... for our family it was worth it for the throwaway for LOTS of reasons.. I checked in online and we do not have plans to go there to do so.

Disney is not losing any money on us, as we PAID for the room and plan on eating practically every other meal onsite.

If they change and close this so called loop hole that people say it is, then so be it... until then we will enjoy ;)

Honestly not even sure this is still a big thing, since they opened up to 30day fp+ window.... we had everything in place before that announcement.

*EDIT* ADRs can be be made for the length of the Disney resort stay up to 10 days starting at 180 days from check-in.

FP+ can be made for X days, where X is the number of days on the ticket (AP counts as 7), starting at 60 days out from check-in date. It is not clear to me right now what the upper limit for number of days out, but it seem to be the same as with ADRs - limited to the length of stay. Since SoG does not qualify for the 60 day booking period, you might be limited.

Edit: Never mind...brain cramp. I corrected my post. :)

Well, now that you said that, I'm not sure either. I thought that on the first day of the resort stay you could book ADRs for the length of your stay only but once you moved off-site, the it went back to 180 days for each day you wanted an ADR. But maybe that isn't right!

OP with this question, please don't take what I said as 100%!! Maybe someone on the Disney Restaurants boards will have a better idea.

I just corrected myself. Even on my own site, I say it is up to the length of stay. :)
