Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

Since SoG does not qualify for the 60 day booking period, you might be limited.

The reason I think they maybe able to book their SOG stay at 60 days (only if the resort stay is first) is because I can still book 60 days out from my throwaway room. I even went in and checked this morning and could book out to July 24. Do you think it would be different with a SoG stay?

we leave tomorrow for DISNEY yay!!! have our throwaway room on Tuesday (first park day)... for our family it was worth it for the throwaway for LOTS of reasons.. I checked in online and we do not have plans to go there to do so.

Disney is not losing any money on us, as we PAID for the room and plan on eating practically every other meal onsite.

If they change and close this so called loop hole that people say it is, then so be it... until then we will enjoy ;)

Honestly not even sure this is still a big thing, since they opened up to 30day fp+ window.... we had everything in place before that announcement.

When you get a chance, could you report back about how things went with park parking? I sent you a PM too with the same question.

Thanks so much and hope you guys have a great time!! :yay:

I sent you back a PM but something goofy happened to my computer and not sure it went through?? I will report back about parking if you didn't get it. :)

It depends on if they are making the upper limit the length of stay or not. If they are not, I don't know what the upper limit actually is, since you aren't required to book consecutive days on the ticket.

So, of the non-SoG resort stay is first, and lets say it starts August 1st and last 5 days but they have a 10 day ticket, on June 2nd (if I counted correctly), they can book definitely for Aug 1-5. They _may_ be able to book Aug 6-10, but I don't think so. They would have to wait until July 7th to book Aug 6th, then July 8th for Aug 7th, etc.

If the SoG stay is first, and is also 5 days starting Aug 1st, they'd have to wait until June 6th to book Aug 5-10 (assuming switching resorts and checking in on the 5th), and then July 2nd to book Aug 1st, July 3rd to book Aug 2nd, etc. I think there is little doubt on this side.

I agree that if the SoG stay is first, then those days won't be able to be booked until 30 days out but I still think that if the non-SoG is first, they will be able to book the length of that stay at 60 days and then the SoG days at 60 days for each day.

We have 5 day tickets tied to a one night throwaway room and was able to book at 60 days for each day after the resort stay. Even now, I can still book a FP+ for 60 days for today.

Hmmm...I do recall something like that, but I had an AP, and it was before the 30 day window, so I thought it was a fluke. I wonder how long the 60 day window lasts. Could be very confusing.

Our 1 night stay is at the beginning of June but I still can book anything 60 days out. If I had to bet when the ability to book at 60 days goes away, it would be after our check out date.

I just booked a throwaway campsite stay for one night in November. It is for our second night there (first night wasn't available). I think it is worth the cost - for $60 I get four Magic Bands, two free days of parking, a much better chance of booking A&E for my princess-crazy girls 60 days out instead of 30, plus the chance of getting a BOG lunch FP since I was not able to get a dinner ADR. Win-win!

For the parking pass, I gather that I have to physically check in to get it. I plan to swing by the campground on the way to RD at MK that morning. Do they really let you check in at 7 or 8 am to get your parking pass even though actual check in is not supposed to be until 1pm?

Also, I don't need to physically check out, correct?

I just read the Touring Plans Blog, and Len posted this:

Despite doing on-line check-in, and providing a credit card, cell phone number and email address to use when my room was ready, I never got notification that a room was ready and had to go to the front desk to check in.Even stranger, I was told that because I didn’t check in at the front desk (I went directly to the Magic Kingdom for the 24-hour event), my room reservation could have been cancelled and reassigned when I didn’t show up that night. That’s not how it should have worked. What should have happened is that Disney’s systems should have figured out that I was on property, because I (a) was using the MagicBand in the Magic Kingdom that night, (b) lived in North Carolina, and thus was far enough from home that driving back wasn’t a likely option, (c) the Magic Kingdom was hosting a 24-hour event, so people were going to stay in the park. The upshot is that even if you’re using online check-in and providing contact information, Disney may not check you in automatically.

Not sure if this was because of the 24 hour celebration or if it is new. or a fluke. Thought I'd pass it on to those wondering if they need to physically check in.

Hopefully I am okay pasting that in to this post. I apologize if I am not suppose to!!!

Hmm...I'm kind of surprised Len wouldn't have known this.

"Online check-in" is not really check-in. It should really be called "Pre-check-in".

You have not actually checked in until you show up at the desk and complete the transaction. Until then you don't actually have the amenities of an on-site guest.

Although they _could_ do that, I think it is asking a LOT of the system at this point, considering it for the most part consists of separate systems that are only marginally connected.

I think what they need to do is add an option on the website and in the app, to actually check in on the day of, without visiting the front desk. Maybe just requiring a front desk visit within 24 hours or something like that.

Well, there are some things, like charging to the room, that they probably can't enable or won't for liability reasons, until you've presented in person, signed the documentation, shown the card, etc.

I _think_ the only complaint here was the lack of notification of a room being ready. And this really is only a problem if a guest decides to go to the park for the 24-hour event and technically doesn't show up until the next day.

The ADRs will be the length of stay for your resort portion and then off-site portion will be 180 for each day. With the FP+, if your resort stay is first, you will be able to make FP+ for the length of your stay for the resort portion and then 60 days for each day of your off-site stay. For each day of your off-site stay you will have to log on to book FP+. But as of right now, you will be able to do that at 60 days for each day.

I'm not sure about the ADR part.

I have a throwaway campsite for 9 in November, for only 1 night.

I was able to book ALL my ADRs for a 10 day trip 180 days out on the system. I was even able to book a Fantasmic dining package over the phone with just the 1 night on site stay.

Edit: I will also add I booked all my ADRs without having purchased tickets and with no tickets connected to my MDE account.

You were able to book all for the 10 days at the 180 day for the 1 night reservation? You didn't have to go in each day at the 180 mark?
Interesting, I start my reservations tomorrow, we shall see what luck I have. :)

It's always been +10, regardless of length of reservation. I thought they might change that once the online system got up to speed, but not that I've heard. On the contrary, the online system seems to frequently not allow the +10 even if the reservation is linked. :)

Correct.

1 night campsite reservation on Nov 6th, checking out Nov 7th.

At the 180 day window I booked ADRs out to and including Nov 15th online. The dining package for Fantasmic was not showing as available online so I called and reserved it over the phone. I gave the cast member my reservation # and they obviously could see what I booked.

It worked great.

$60 campsite gets our 2 families;

9 Magic Bands
2 days of parking
180+10 day window for booking ADRs
60 day window for FP+
Special BOG FP+

Best $60 I have ever spent.

Ok, I see where my confusion is. :upsidedow
I have been reading posts from people who could not book all days, but they were attempting online.
So if I need to book out further, I'll still need to call in for the remainder of my days.
Got it! :thumbsup2

When trying to book ADRs online, only +1 was unlocked, since I was only staying 1 day/night.

However, I called in for the remainder of my ADRs, and was able to book them for the length of my stay (including Dessert Party).

My advice: If you booked a 1 night onsite stay at the beginning of your stay, call in to book your ADRs, because +10 may not unlock online.

Thanks everyone for clearing the ADRs up! I didn't make my reservation at 180 so I wasn't certain. Sorry if I caused an confusion for anyone! Good info to have for future trips! :goodvibes

No such luck for me.:headache:
Called in this am at 6am, on hold for 20 minutes only to be told I could only make reservations for the reservation length. Soooo, made my one reservation.
SO disappointing...Not only that, I get to do it all over again everyday this week and we leave for Yellowstone in 2 days.:sad2:

Ah well....
