Three Things...Gratitude Thread

T Things:

1. I will second @slo on Toyota. We have a small fleet of them and they have been excellent vehicles for us. We have a 2005 RAV4, a 2010 Corolla, a 2013 Highlander and a 2018 Tacoma.
2. Thanksgiving—might be my favorite holiday. I like the focus on family.
3. Television—I enjoy watching at the end of the day to wind down a bit before bed.

IMG_4400.jpegIt's officially the first day of fall! *

(Of course, I'm in the northern hemisphere. Do we have any thread members where it's spring today??)

Today's Topic (Sat, 9/23) - 3 things you're grateful for about fall/autumn

* PS - The pic is mine, but it's from 2019. It doesn't actually look like that here yet!

Yeah I know how much I love winter🤣🤣🤣 but I am glad that summer is almost over I like warm I just don’t like it overly humid and warm so I’m happy and it’s a little bit cooler and fall starting to get here
With that being said I find the leaves changing to be quite beautiful but also very depressing because I know pretty soon all the trees here will be naked and everything will look dead and it’ll get very cold it’s already getting dark early and staying dark pretty late into the morning which makes me very sad
Nothing against you pumpkin people but everything seems to be pumpkin spice something yeah I like pumpkin and some things but this is just seems to have gotten out of hand
I find it depressing that the stores are already shoving Christmas down my throat and have been for months they sprinkle in a little Halloween and totally forget about Thanksgiving which I find very sad Thanksgiving is the forgotten holiday and it shouldn’t be
So I do enjoy fall but the weather here in the state usually goes from summer straight into winter we don’t get much fall just the leaves changing which doesn’t last very long but one thunderstorm and they’re gone and we have naked trees
But with that being said and it’s a lot I know
It’s time for
Stews
Chili
Hardy casseroles
Holiday sweaters
Long sleeves
Those comfy sweatpants
Your leggings
And let’s not forget the women here let’s get those boots out
Happy fall y’all!!!
And for me to find more things to be grateful about instead of food which seems to be my theme all the time I guess I need to stop doing this in the morning when I’m hungry🤣🤣🤣

Beautiful fall tree! Autumn happiness and health to all with a :grouphug:

Thanksgiving is an extra time for me to I pray give thanks to God most of all for Him. Also for hose He has trusted me to love and care for. I also enjoy on Thanksgiving beginning to write my Christmas cards as an extra way to say thanks to God for the family member or friend and also think of that person and the kind difference they have made to me. Reminder to please do not wait, do it now, to tell someone you care for that you do!

We really don't have a true seasonal change out here leaf wise but it sure is pretty to see in pictures and TV.
Christmastime coming

1. Definitely the beautiful changing leaves! We live close to the Illinois River Road and the drive between the bluff and the river is just beautiful in the fall.

2. Chili - one of my favorites! Honestly, we eat it occasionally in the summer, but it just seems better in the fall!

3. Bonfires - I love when it gets cool enough for a good bonfire. We've never lived in the right place to host one, but love going to them!

Fall/Autumn

Sunny autumn days are my favorite. Just happened to have one today (and I spent several hours in the garden planting daffodil and crocus bulbs - please send them flourishing thoughts!!!!)

Clearing fallen leaves is a bit of a pain, but the crunch of leaves; kids (and the rest of us/!) playing with piles of ;eaves; and the beauty of the reds, yellows, oranges makes it worth it.

I appreciate all 4 seasons. It must be relaxing to live somewhere that's warm all year round, but I still enjoy the variety and distinction of the changing seasons.

...Plus, lots of Libra birthdays coming up!

Reminds me of a poem:

The autumn leaves are guilded,
...............................................................burnt,
...........................................................................and shadowed...
Heavy,

Yet so light they lift the world
And make it most alive before it sleeps.

...and totally forget about Thanksgiving which I find very sad
My DS always felt the same way about Christmas encroaching on Thanksgiving. One year I bought him pilgrim tree ornaments, so Thanksgiving could invade Christmas back:

Ooh how was Alaska ? I love that state !!! Except for those pesky mosquitoes🤣🤣
One reason I chose to go when I did is that most of the mosquitoes are gone by then. Only got one mosquito bite on the whole trip.

I visited three areas: Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks. My favorite experiences were the 26-glacier tour (a day cruise), seeing spectacular fall colors at Denali, and seeing the northern lights near Fairbanks. The one major disappointment (off-topic for a gratitude thread, sorry) is that I didn't get to see Mt. Denali, even after trying on various days from different places. It's the tallest mountain in North America, but it's usually completely blocked from view by clouds. Apparently most visitors don't get to see it!

Overall, the trip was quite an adventure, visiting a place I'd never been.

Sounds amazing !!! I would love to see the Northern Lights and Denali
26 glacier tour sounds fabulous !!
Did you see a lot of wildlife I’m sure you did
I wanted to see a moose when I was up there but it was too late in the season to see one I seen everything else thou especially my favorite bears and baby bears little tiny baby bears!

First week of June
Bears
Tons of Eagles
Just about everything except Moose
You know whales seals everything and hummingbirds they were having a heatwave all them up there were complaining it was so hot we were wearing shorts up on a glacier it was so hot crazy weather and then we came home on the ship and it was sleeting and snowing it was so funny But our day to go up through the glacier they were birthing calves so we didn’t get to get into the glacier we got to see the Calfs being birth though the seal calves - yeah we came back with a tan it was an amazing cruise love Alaska
If I win again which I hope to do sometime I would probably go in September
