Three Things...Gratitude Thread

My homemade macaroni and cheese. I make about 6 cups of white sauce and add 24oz of sharp cheddar and 8oz of velveeta, along with spices and such. It's amazing, if I do say so myself! The resident 7yo loves it; it was a special request for his birthday!

Grilled cheese sandwiches, as well as grilled cream cheese sandwiches. I love grilled cheese and tomato soup. It's definitely the go-to comfort food. When I make grilled cream cheese sandwiches, I slice green olives and put them in the cream cheese- another recipe from my childhood!

Pizza with double cheese and canned mushrooms. No judgement, it's a texture-thing. I also adore cheese calzones with just mozzarella and ricotta for the filling.

(Wed, 9/20) - 3 cheesy things you're grateful for
As tempted as I am to get a bit "snarky" on this one and just give "cheese" for all three, I shall try to be a bit more specific.
1. American cheese (for my cheese omelets)
2. Swiss cheese (for my bedtime snack with roasted garlic Triscuts)
3. Blue Cheese (for my toasted BLTs I get from Picklemans (a local/regional deli/sandwich shop)

1. My mom’s hobby was miniatures. She started with dollhouses, but moved on to creating smaller vignettes. She made the dolls, painted their faces, made the clothing and furniture. She was very artistic. After she passed away her library did an exhibit of her work. My girls each her several of her pieces and I am happy they will have those as a reminder of her.
2. I am not quite as talented as my mom, but have a Christmas village I set up. I think I do a good job of making it look special.
3. My younger two daughters, but especially my middle DD loved all things Barbie. Got the Barbie Dreamhouse one year for Christmas. I think she played with it from the time she woke up until the time she went to sleep that whole Christmas break. The look of excitement on her face when she saw it Christmas morning was the best.

Happy Thursday

#1 - I’m grateful for my around 300 Precious Moments (would those be considered a miniature?) - they are beautifully displayed in 2 large curio cabinets (my DH found me clear risers so many are raised higher so they can be seen) I don’t get them anymore now due to running out of room for new ones. I don’t know what DD20 is going to do with them when I die someday. I’m sure she’ll keep all the Disney ones, the ones she knows are my favorites and the angels.

#2 - I’m grateful for the little miniature potatoes that I buy - they are so good when I season them and put them in the air fryer.

#3 - I’m grateful for miniature golf - it’s something DD20 always enjoy doing every summer. We’re very competitive and have so many great laughs when we are playing. I totally destroyed her in August and she wasn’t very happy about it - LOL!

Mini tacos
Appetizers
Mini pizzas
Samples -that way you can find something new that you might like
Just about any kind a little tiny food it’s just so adorable and then you don’t feel so bad about eating a little tiny food promise you just need a bunch of it🤣🤣🤣
I love little tiny dishes- small bowls small plates small serving containers I’m a sucker for buying them little tiny like gravy boats I mean tiny they’re hard to find but you can find them estate sales things like that cause are usually really old from back in the day

1 When I was younger, I loved playing miniature golf! I also so enjoyed collecting miniature animals for shadow boxes. The kind at touristy souvenir shops, some even from Disneyland.

2 I also loved a few times going years ago to a Miniatures museum at here, long gone now.

3 :) WDWEPCOT, what a great answer, samples! I wish more places would have them.

(Wed, 9/20) - 3 cheesy things you're grateful for

DD25 loves cheese - when we go on cruises, she always orders the cheese plate for dessert!

I'll go with -
1. Anything with cream cheese!
2. Grilled cheese sandwiches - DH rolls his eyes when I order this at a restaurant, but they are so good!
3. Laughing Cow cheese wedges - I usually have one every night for a "bed time" snack! So yummy!

(Thur, 9/21) - 3 miniature things you are/were grateful for

1. A lady at work does origami and gives them to me sometimes. They are so cute!

2. My SIL used to give me mini waterford Christmas ornaments each year when we all exchanged gifts. We eventually started drawing names because there were too many people, but I love hanging them each year.

3. DH and I collect replicas of all of the cruise ships we go on. I'm not a big souvenir shopper, so this is an easy momento to pick up each trip! We are missing one at this point. They didn't have any in stock when we were on the ship. I have a notification set up on Ebay, but they last time one came up for sale, they had it priced at $170 - um, no way! They cost about $30 on the ship!! I told DH I'd book another cruise on that ship before I'd spend $170 to buy it from Ebay lol!

The "mini" things I'm grateful for :
  1. my mini poodle ( she's a rescue and the most GRATEFUL dog ever!)
  2. my "minnie" mouse earband collection (even when I'm not at Disney, it makes me happy to peek at them!) ::MinnieMo
  3. mini skirts. I am short, so long dresses and skirts look terrible on me, so grateful for mini skirts! (not too mini though! lol) :cutie:

my "minnie" mouse earband collection (even when I'm not at Disney, it makes me happy to peek at them!) ::MinnieMo
Oooh, excellent outside the box answer!!!

I have mine hanging on a wall, and I agree -
my Minnie Ears make me so happy!

I'm also grateful for mini desserts -
when I want to try something, but don't want to finish a big serving or waste part of it

And I second mini-golf -
I have some great memories of playing at different places over the years, and love that it lends itself to multi-generational fun

Oooh, I've bought those and roasted them, but not tried them in the air fryer! What time and temp do you use? And do you do them whole or half/quarter them?
They are so good.
I cut them in half, drizzle with olive oil, coat them with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and parsley. Sometimes I’ll do paprika or smoked paprika. I put them in the air fryer at 400 and start them off at 13-15 minutes. I check to see how done they are and then judge how much longer from there. Good stuff :thumbsup2

My sister gave me some mini-Mickey head Christmas ornaments. They are about as big over as a silver dollar, blown glass Mickey head w/ears in a variety of colors. I think there are 12 of them in the box. They go near the top of the tree, with other small ornaments.

Petit fours. We get a box from Swiss Colony every year, just for us. DD, who will be 30 on Saturday, is already hinting around about this year's order.

Mini wrapped cheeses, like the Bonne Bel ones in the red wax. There is another company that is making gouda and havarti "planks, individually wrapped. If I break them in half, they are the right size for a Ritz cracker. My lunch usually consists of 4 crackers and some cheese, and these individually wrapped mini-cheeses makes packing lunch so much easier... I just grab and go!
