D&DDisney yummm... cake
Bopsmom Mating season oh no. :faint:
whgrn Didn't notice the second weight ticker either. WOW 221 lbs! :jumping3: :Pinkbounc :mickeyjum :ccat:

Afternoon everyone!!!! It's beautiful here today...almost a whole 50 degrees. 10 more days till spring, 10 more days till spring

DL55-less than a month till Disney....oh you are so lucky. Warm weather, lots of sunshine...I'd be on :cloud9: right about now.

whgrn-:yay: :cool1: on the weight loss. That's so great.

D&DDisney-Love the cake. Me, I couldn't do that even if I had someone standing next to me telling me what to do. Post more pics if you have them. I would love to see others.

disney54us-I honestly don't think I would make DD pay for the tire. She made a mistake. She obviously wasn't out hot-dogging in the car trying to show off for her friends. Lesson learned in my opinion. And another major school project. :scared1:

Bopsmom-more skunks.
skunk.gif
Your DH sounds so funny and I know that voice too. I hear it in my head sometimes especially after DH has been trying to work on his truck. :rotfl2:

I'm back! Revenge of the house continues...the DirecTv installation took THREE HOURS! It was the guys first time....(wait for it, hee hee) installing an international dish. Its actually wide and oval (kinda like me). But we're up and running. He was cute, but we got to talking about international packages (giggle giggle) and if there was a Polish channel package, coz his girlfriend is Polish. Ok, so we got that out of the way. But he didn't kill me and my TV is working, so I gave him some coffee, offered my bathroom, and sent him on his way.

In full disclosure, I got into a HUGE accident my senior year of HS, just two months after I got my license (which I didn't want anyway). My parents didn't make me pay for it, although I was in hot water for a really long time. Mistakes, stupidity, life happens to all of us.

magikitty - did you get tivo??? please say you did if you got international tv, you must have gotten tivo!

bopsmom - too many skunks, well i guess 1 skunk is too many skunks. how about one of those companies that know how to deal with these kinds of wild animals? we have way too many raccoons than i'd like to see, in our area and once they get too comfortable in our yard (like coming up to the house) then i'm calling to get them out of here. usually we can't see them, but we've been hearing their little (or big) claws as they climb the trees, then you look up and see those masked faces staring back at you. i'm sorry, it just freaks me out!

gotta get downstairs - be back in a while!

Well, I have been working on the critter problem. I thought I'd just call the feed store and ask about repellent. The old feed store in our area has gone "polo" on us and doesn't sell those kinds of items anymore:snooty: So I call an older one. The guy says that they are not allowed to sell a scent/urine repellent over the counter in this state and the only thing he could sell me over the counter to get rid of skunks was a box of 22 shells:rotfl: :rotfl: Yep, I live in Texas YeHaww

I call the county agency hoping to get some help(Master Gardeners also work through the county) and they said come get a trap, set it up and call them in the morning when there is a skunk in it. I thought, goodie, I don't have to take the thing for a ride myself. He said, "no ma'am, we'll have to come out there and shoot it on site." :scared1: Well hell, that blows my whole NWF Certified Backyard Habitat status now don't it?
I totally understand the agent's point of view. They are dedicated people who like animals as much as I do. It's their job to protect animals and humans. Skunks are a huge carrier of rabies and that is a big concern where we live. They also are a top threat of animal bites. We had a rabid skunk in our yard about 2 months ago so this "invasion" while funny is serious.

I haven't decided what I plan to do. Noise and light are not working as a deterent. I have a feeling DH will be making this call and I will have to explain it to DD.

More smelly adventures later.

Shooting a skunk caught in a trap...doesn't sound very fair.

Shooting a skunk caught in a trap...doesn't sound very fair.

That's what I thought. :sad2:
DMom said it sounds like they are trying to make the process sound so bad so they don't have to come out at all. (she's kinda a cynic sometimes)
Perhaps, I will probably call again and talk to a supervisor.
Heck, if I wanted someone to shoot at the darn things I would have let DH do it. He's such a bad shot they'd at least have a sporting chance. Knowing my luck, he'd wing one of them, then I'd have to take the darn thing to the vet.:confused3

:rotfl2:

I think I will take some of Winks litter and sprinkle it around the areas where they have dug under.

My life just gets funner and funner!

:thanks: Dreamin' for the

smilie!:)

Re: skunk issue. Is there perhaps a Humane Society that you can call for advice? Or perhaps call your vet for suggestions. You'd be surprised what people know. But if there is a threat of rabies, you're probably going to have more suggestions of shooting the little guys. Hopefully tonight they'll have moved on and this will no longer be an issue!

Oh, they want to shoot the skunks that you trap. I don't know if I could trap them knowing what they want to do. You coulddo what my stepmom claims to work. She informed all of us that if you just talk to the skunk, it will leave you alone. Yep, you have to make friends with the skunk. Why am I surrrounded with such strange people in my family? :rotfl2:

And speaking of my stepmom, she got her first peep today. I didn't get a picture today because I was running late taking DD to school. She found it after she got home from work this morning. She works as a crossing guard at DD's school so every morning we walk home together. I got lucky and my dad made it home for his break before we got back to the house this morning. So, now she is blaming my dad. :woohoo: Tomorrow, DD12 is going to stop at her house on the way to school a leave her present. She'll have her camera so I'll post a pic tomorrow afternoon.

She was working, but when they thought part time for a high schooler was 25-28 hrs. a week, that wasn't my idea of a p/t job. So she gave notice and will get a job again after exams. She has a little in her savings account, but as you said and I concur she made a mistake, I know she is not a crazy driver (she knows DH and I know too many cops in almost every surrounding town she drives through:laughing:). My DN lived w/me when her DH was in Iraq 2nd tour and she would take the train to work, when I told her what happened, she said the same thing, 'I know the parking there, but I could see how she would do that'. I'm not one for hard core punishment, I guess it's those Montessori prek days and Friends school for 1-5. She is responsible, she doesn't do what half the people she goes to school with does and I know what they do b/c she tells me some of the stories. That's a plus to have a teen who talks and feels comfortable that they can tell you things. How can I think it is impossible to do what she did on a dark raining night, when I have come close to doing the same? I can't, I have many more years of driving experience, okay well I'm not that old maybe just a few:rotfl:.

OK, having read more of what happened, I agree. Honest mistake, not irresponsibility. I guess I missed the part about it being dark, poorly lit, hard to see. I bet she NEVER makes that mistake again!!!

Oh stop, maybe they binged over the weekend and aren't ready to talk about it:goodvibes. Get back there and get it going!
:lmao: :rotfl2: Have I mentioned that I just LOVE you guys!!! Always here with a laugh!

Good Morning TK'rs.
1/2 day at school today-Parent Conference Day.(no smilie making "pop" sound by sticking finger in mouth and twirling finger afterwards) They rush you in in 15 minutes-throw a sheet of paper at you and yell, "next"

15 minutes?!?! I WISH!! Ours are this week too, and we get FIVE minutes, plus 2 minutes in between. So mine are 1:30, 1:37, and 1:42 on Friday. Worthless for sure, but I've gotta try to keep up on DD's school...

And :lmao: about the skunk traps! What a sight that would be!:scared1:

O kayyyyy, so what, she's gonna walk up to to Mr. Skunk and try to engage him in coversation?!:rotfl2: I am SOOOO not gonna try that, thank you very much!

I can just hear it--"pardon me, Mr. Skunk?" "Yes, ma'am?" "I was wondering if you and your friends would mind holding your next keg party somewhere else" "Oh, and why would that be, ma'am?" "Well, we don't mean to be unfriendly, but you ARE digging up around my porch, and, well, you know, there's that smell and all..."

I bet she wouldn't get the first sentence out and Mr. Skunk would be telling her exactly what he thought of her idea!!:rotfl:

Oh...:rotfl2: Owww... :rotfl: Stop :lmao: ... My sides hurt!!! I don't mean to laugh at some of these stories, but you all are so funny and such great story tellers. I'm so far behind and I'm trying to catch up and I'm almost in tears. btw, i'm not sure if i'm going to dress all 80s yet. i probably still have one of my prom dresses at my dad's, but ......well.....it wasn't the nicest time for fashion![/QUOTE]

You mean the 80's weren't the height of fashion?!?!?!?:confused3 :rotfl:
Can you believe they are coming back! I see some of our interns at work wearing leggings, jean skirts and flats, and I just have to laugh. Maybe I'll show up in some of the stuff still in my closet and see if I can pull it off as "Fashionable."

And I'm an idiot. I unplugged my alarm system the other day--I was looking for an available plug for Edgar. That set off the alarm communication--which meant calling my cell phone every 30 seconds. I was freaked out coz my cell phone said "home" was calling me--and I was IN THE HOUSE! I thought it was the beginning of a horror movie. I then realized what I had done, and tried to fix it. But I couldn't figure it out. Eventually, the house stopped calling me.

I just got a call from the phone company that my alarm system was calling SOMEONE ELSE! My alarm is just personal, I'm not attached to the fire/police department (thank goodness). I've just disconnected the phone line. I can't find the instruction booklet. I can't find someone from the manufacturer to talk to. I'm going to rip the thing out of the wall. I don't know who to ask help from.

The electronics are taking over. I hope Edgar will come to my rescue. Now I'm afraid of the DirecTv guy coming over tomorrow. The house is rebelling against me.

Oh Magikitty!!! I'm so sorry. But, I also can't stop laughing. Especially since I just read your comment about Edgars light scaring you and now the house is calling! I truly, truly, truly hope it has all worked out and I'll read the resolution in a few pages (I'm only at 172 or something) but I also have to thank you for giving me a good chuckle. Hopefully your computer hasn't turned against you.... Wait a minute...

Magikitty, is that really you??? Or is this Magikitty's computer talking??? How will we know? :scared1:

Gotta go. I'm going to try to skim a few more pages and then I've got to get to bed.

LOVE the skunk conversation.

Bopsmom - I hope all works out w/ the skunks. Sounds like a tough situation.

Everyone else - I'm finally caught up, but I didn't multi the last few pages, so although I want to comment on everything... I must go to sleep.

Take care. I hope all is well. Cars, skunks, trip planning, projects, conferences, electronics, holidays, etc.... Good luck w/ all of it!

Goodnight!

Hi ,killers to much to catch up and multi quote on this late. Do need to share, DH send me a fw from his DS it's called the 'peep show'. Very funny, now I need to figure how to post it or pm it. Maybe I'll have DD figure it out, it could be payment for tire:rotfl:.
Catch you all in the AM.
PS DN's due date today:cool1:, so now just waiting.

:rotfl2: :worship: Bless her heart!:rotfl2: Well, I think I'll just give the county agent you stepmom's address and we will send them to her for a coffee clatch:lmao: Maybe the skunks are living under my greenhouse because they feel that they don't deserve better.
character0010.gif
It might be some inferiority complex or feeling persecuted or something. Perhaps they do need someone to talk to.

I'd played them classic rock all weekend(with the bass really cranked)maybe I attracted the wrong "sort" of skunks to the backyard
party0023.gif

I guess should have played classical instead.:confused3

I did sprinkle some of Wink's litter around and it got them moving but it also attracted Smelly cat-dag nabit!

You have no idea on how true that conversation would be. :rotfl2: In fact, as I read that, I could hear my stepmom's voice in my head. She is a very unique person.

Bopsmom-you are so lucky that you get 15 minutes. After 1st grade, we only get 5 minutes.

Ok, complete bragging time, please excuse. All through grade school, conferences with DD's teacher never took more than 2 minutes. We would go through the niceties for the first 30 seconds, and then they would ask us if we wanted the good news or the good news. Our conferences mostly ended up being catch up time for all the time the were behind. The worst we ever heard was she was a little chatty at times. DD isn't gifted or anything, she just catches on really quick. And she actually loves school. I couldn't be more proud. Complete bragging over....back to the regularly scheduled conversation.

:lmao: :lmao: I just hope I can remember why I was going to multiquote...it got funnier as I read along.

Such an understanding mom! Mistakes are easy to make. Carelessness wasn't involved. That's an accident in my book. :flower3:

I always hated PC day when I taught. You always see the parents that are involved and never the ones you need to contact.
Not a fun time for teachers either. I know many would love to have longer to talk but district only allows so much time for them.

Ssshhh...ok, DirecTv guy is here and working on my roof. Not the cute redhead from last time, but not bad to look at either. I worried that he may be allergic to cats before he entered the house. He's okay, although I do look like the crazy cat lady to him in all probability.
Ooh, he's coming back. I'll talk to you later!
Killers---it's a good thing it wasn't the redhead...we never would have heard from MagiKitty again. (insert red smilie cat here)

I think you need to do a peep/skunk adventure. Maybe call it Peepunk?:rotfl:

You totally have a bragging rights!:woohoo:
That is so great. Don't you love those kinds of meetings.:yay:

I always jot down things I want to ask but never get around to it because we end up chatting.

We got-she needs more confidence. Some of the more "mature"-read boy-crazy girls intimidate her because she won't "go" with any of the boys in the class. She has known these boys since pre school and doesn't think of the "that way":rotfl2: DH wants that in writing.

Basically we discussed Spring Break plans. (I told them that I'm taking DH for piercings and tatoos for Spring Break:lmao:)

I am in a quandry about her middle school choices next year but it is late and I will have to pick ya'lls brains in the morning.

'night tkr's:wave2:
