lighttech: just checked your tr. It was up on my subscribed list so I checked it. You got this reply from someone with only 22 posts....Just found this report. Loving it and can hardly wait for more!
  Good job! Compliments from strangers!

Skunks love marshmallows.:rotfl2:
I could set the traps with them but would need a telephoto lens to get the pictures. JK!we aren't trapping-that will be last resort.

I don't know if I am brave enough to start setting peeps up next to the burrows.

Sacrificing peeps to the skunks....oh, the horrors. :rotfl2:

Wait, around age of 10, they are worried about "going" with somebody? :scared1: Youngest DD is 4. does that mean around 3rd grade, she should have a boyfriend? What happened to just being a kid? I didn't think I was that far out of touch. Good going for you DD for not going along with the other girls. Even if the teacher's think she needs more confidence, she obviously feels secure enough in what she feels not to go along with the other girls. About your DH and getting it in writing...right now, one of my DH's favorite songs is by Rodney Atkins-Come on In Boy. Yes, DH is very over-protective.

Night all....see you in the morning.

Morning Killers, trying to get my am in and need to clean, window guy coming to give estimate for bedroom windows:worship:. Yes, seems strange to be excited about windows but I've never been so cold in my life since buying this house a 1 1/2 ago. 70+ years ago, they weren't worried about a insulating window:confused3.

Well, I have been working on the critter problem. I thought I'd just call the feed store and ask about repellent. The old feed store in our area has gone "polo" on us and doesn't sell those kinds of items anymore:snooty: So I call an older one. The guy says that they are not allowed to sell a scent/urine repellent over the counter in this state and the only thing he could sell me over the counter to get rid of skunks was a box of 22 shells:rotfl: :rotfl: Yep, I live in Texas YeHaww

I call the county agency hoping to get some help(Master Gardeners also work through the county) and they said come get a trap, set it up and call them in the morning when there is a skunk in it. I thought, goodie, I don't have to take the thing for a ride myself. He said, "no ma'am, we'll have to come out there and shoot it on site." :scared1: Well hell, that blows my whole NWF Certified Backyard Habitat status now don't it?
I totally understand the agent's point of view. They are dedicated people who like animals as much as I do. It's their job to protect animals and humans. Skunks are a huge carrier of rabies and that is a big concern where we live. They also are a top threat of animal bites. We had a rabid skunk in our yard about 2 months ago so this "invasion" while funny is serious.

I haven't decided what I plan to do. Noise and light are not working as a deterent. I have a feeling DH will be making this call and I will have to explain it to DD.

More smelly adventures later.

They do carry rabies, the rest of my skunk story was after that happened w/the dog I called the County health dept. after calling animal control. I wanted it removed DH wasn't home and I didn't want Cody going out there and picking at it. The county didn't seemed concerned. Later in the day, I had called the vet about getting the smell off, they called and wanted him brought in for a rabbies shot. Even though he did have one it was towards the end of it and since the skunk was out in the daytime she was concerned it had rabbies. The vet was angry w/ the county and told me that they should have come out and picked up the skunk and tested it. DH had to bring him in after 8:00 cause they didn't want him in when others 'patients', were in. I had to go get the Vinegar douche and DD was leary about staying home alone DS was sleeping already, and the store was 1 min away. So I called and asked for them to have it ready at the counter for me so I could run in and out, then the pharm. says okay 1 box, I'm like no I think I'll need 2:rotfl:, This is for my dog! Animal Control does have humane traps, try them.

Oh, they want to shoot the skunks that you trap. I don't know if I could trap them knowing what they want to do. You coulddo what my stepmom claims to work. She informed all of us that if you just talk to the skunk, it will leave you alone. Yep, you have to make friends with the skunk. Why am I surrrounded with such strange people in my family? :rotfl2:

And speaking of my stepmom, she got her first peep today. I didn't get a picture today because I was running late taking DD to school. She found it after she got home from work this morning. She works as a crossing guard at DD's school so every morning we walk home together. I got lucky and my dad made it home for his break before we got back to the house this morning. So, now she is blaming my dad. Tomorrow, DD12 is going to stop at her house on the way to school a leave her present. She'll have her camera so I'll post a pic tomorrow afternoon.

:rotfl2: OMG, you could write a book!! I would love to see her 'talking' to the skunks!

OK, having read more of what happened, I agree. Honest mistake, not irresponsibility. I guess I missed the part about it being dark, poorly lit, hard to see. I bet she NEVER makes that mistake again!!!

:lmao: :rotfl2: Have I mentioned that I just LOVE you guys!!! Always here with a laugh!

It was, live and learn, now check out your other thread, and let me know how many people fess up to what they did this weekend:laughing: .

Oh... Owww... :rotfl: Stop :lmao: ... My sides hurt!!! I don't mean to laugh at some of these stories, but you all are so funny and such great story tellers. I'm so far behind and I'm trying to catch up and I'm almost in tears. btw, i'm not sure if i'm going to dress all 80s yet. i probably still have one of my prom dresses at my dad's, but ......well.....it wasn't the nicest time for fashion!

You mean the 80's weren't the height of fashion?!?!?!?:confused3
Can you believe they are coming back! I see some of our interns at work wearing leggings, jean skirts and flats, and I just have to laugh. Maybe I'll show up in some of the stuff still in my closet and see if I can pull it off as "Fashionable."

Magikitty, is that really you??? Or is this Magikitty's computer talking??? How will we know? :scared1:

Gotta go. I'm going to try to skim a few more pages and then I've got to get to bed.[/QUOTE]

Of course the 80's were the height of fashion!!!:cool1:

You have no idea on how true that conversation would be. :rotfl2: In fact, as I read that, I could hear my stepmom's voice in my head. She is a very unique person.

Bopsmom-you are so lucky that you get 15 minutes. After 1st grade, we only get 5 minutes.

Ok, complete bragging time, please excuse. All through grade school, conferences with DD's teacher never took more than 2 minutes. We would go through the niceties for the first 30 seconds, and then they would ask us if we wanted the good news or the good news. Our conferences mostly ended up being catch up time for all the time the were behind. The worst we ever heard was she was a little chatty at times. DD isn't gifted or anything, she just catches on really quick. And she actually loves school. I couldn't be more proud. Complete bragging over....back to the regularly scheduled conversation.

You have the right to be proud:thumbsup2. 5 minutes?? Come on, that's ridiculous. In DD's school, they have it for a 1 1/2 hour time span. Now first you have to remember that it's HS, so classes are all over the place. They have 'guides' telling you to go left, right, up, down. So you spend more time finding the class, then when you do there could be a line w/2-3 parents waiting. So basically you waste a good deal of time getting lost and waiting in line I just love that school:rolleyes1.

:lmao: I just hope I can remember why I was going to multiquote...it got funnier as I read along.

Such an understanding mom! Mistakes are easy to make. Carelessness wasn't involved. That's an accident in my book. :flower3:

Not a fun time for teachers either. I know many would love to have longer to talk but district only allows so much time for them.

Peep/Skunk show:lmao:

Killers---it's a good thing it wasn't the redhead...we never would have heard from MagiKitty again. (insert red smilie cat here)

I think you need to do a peep/skunk adventure. Maybe call it Peepunk?:rotfl:

Morning friends! And yes, its really me (and the computer too, I guess).

disney54us...I totally understand your drafty house. I have one too (built in 1924) and we've slowly been replacing windows over the years. I've learned to sleep with lots and lots of blankets at night. The upside is that house is quite cool in the summer.

I miss the 80's. I have perfect hair for it. Could do without the neon and the tremendous layering though. At the Spice Girls concert, I couldn't beleive what they were wearing! It was my grade school nightmare all over again! Luckily, I went to Catholic school and wore a uniform, so my only 80's adornment was leg warmers and lots and lots of jelly bracelets!

You guys seem to be so successful in raising well-adjusted, smart, amazing children. I'm so impressed on how much effort you put into everything. Your children truly are blessed.

So cold here today! I guess leg warmers may be warranted!

BTW, if my litter boxes (not mine personally, but my kitties) can be of any help in the skunk war, i'll be happy to share. Thinking of it, I wonder if they'll make a litterooba to change and dispose of my cat litter. I have the automatic litter box, but its not as effective as I'd hoped.

Have a good day TKers! talk to you throughout the day!

don't really have time, but wanted to say to bopsmom - they can't sell you urine, but they can sell you shells!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

man is that funny or what?! we had raccoons, as i mentioned, and the county told us to get lion's urine, i think, from the hunting store. maybe it would work on the skunks. i guess you'd have to go to another state, and smuggle it across state lines! all that for a skunk problem!:rotfl: :confused3

Thanks for the heads up... boy have I let that thread go. I'm suprised someone even found it!

lighttech...I'm with you! I have basically forgotten about my TR, I was so psyched to do it, but its just fallen by the wayside...let's get back on it and relive the memories!

Unfortunately, I'm so scatter brained these days, I don't know if I remember what happened next!

Now we have killer smugglers. :rotfl:

Another thread saved. :flower3:

Isn't life fun? And never dull! :goodvibes

Just had a deep thought...The Peeping will soon stop but Killers live on!

that just made me laugh out loud (above statement). I tried to quick reply, but it didn't work.

Couldn't you see me getting stopped by a Texas State Trooper.

:cool2: "Ma'am I need to know why you were speeding"
 "Well officer, I'm trying to get home quickly, I've got pee.:thumbsup2 "

The skunks were outside my bedroom window last night at 12:30-playing:sad2: Today I have set the boom box back in the greenhouse and they are enjoying the soothing sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughn, this evening I will seranade them with the melodies of George Thurogood and the Destroyers. We are going to give them a light show by placing ropelight at the burrows. Aromathearpy with be provided by Winkleman and ammonia on rags. I hope they enjoy their stay:rolleyes1

Sounds like fine accomodations. Do you think there's a skunk Expedia where they can go and rate their stay?

"3.5 Stars out of 4 - A fine array of music and nightly light shows. I found the vibration thru the green house floor from the music maker very soothing. I took off 1/2 star for a mildly annoying smell similar to cat urine."

That's what I thought. :sad2:
DMom said it sounds like they are trying to make the process sound so bad so they don't have to come out at all. (she's kinda a cynic sometimes)
Perhaps, I will probably call again and talk to a supervisor.
Heck, if I wanted someone to shoot at the darn things I would have let DH do it. He's such a bad shot they'd at least have a sporting chance. Knowing my luck, he'd wing one of them, then I'd have to take the darn thing to the vet.:confused3

:rotfl2:

I think I will take some of Winks litter and sprinkle it around the areas where they have dug under.

My life just gets funner and funner!

:thanks: Dreamin' for the

Hi ,killers to much to catch up and multi quote on this late. Do need to share, DH send me a fw from his DS it's called the 'peep show'. Very funny, now I need to figure how to post it or pm it. Maybe I'll have DD figure it out, it could be payment for tire:rotfl:.
Catch you all in the AM.
PS DN's due date today:cool1:, so now just waiting.
You may have to PM the peep show. I think some one tried to post it but it got deleted.

:rotfl2: I was going to mention the automatic litter box but I see you have tried that.

I've been told that skunks aren't afraid of anything that's why they get hit by cars a lot. They don't run.
I'm having trouble planning our trip. DH wants to play golf. I want to know how many times (1,2 or 3 times). He says he has to see what the weather is like when he gets there. :faint:
