Cute. NOT! Let kids wear them at home or to Grandma's house...you know, the people who worship every little ounce of the little angels and everything they do. Out in public? No. Just another way for today's parents to call attention to their little darlings. IMHO.

As i dont have kids i'll agree...would never buy them, and parents shouldn’t subject the general public to them

Great idea! But be sure to put them directly on the child's feet so the kid can fall in love with them before mom can dispose of them!

I saw those shoes when my DD was a toddler. I just assumed that they were some kind of parental torture device, and moved along to something less headache inducing. Then again, I've been known to put packing tape over the speaker of some of her louder toys, and to "forget" to buy batteries for said toys when they finally run out of juice.

I do that too. It's amazing how the stores around me are always sold out of the size battery we need.

They have their benefits.

A little girl had a pair on when we went out the other night. She ran around through most of dinner. squeak, squeak, squeak. I think most of the diners had pretty big headaches by the end.

The benefit was that the owner must have seen the glares and sensed the growing annoyance as everyone got free cheesecake samplers (except for the parents of the little girl).

Wow. How extremely rude of the restaurant to do that.

My 12yo dd and I were in Disney and kept running into a little girl that had some. My dd remarked how the kid looked miserable. Sure enough I looked over, and it was like she hated each step. She winced....LOL. Why couldn't the parents see their little princess didn't like them if my 12yo saw it? Poor thing will grow up thinking every step must be accompanied by a squeak

She'll likely grow up to be OCD and have to count out loud every step. OK just kidding. I know OCD isn't funny, as I have it to a certain extent. I remember being young and how frustrating it was to have to have a certain number of steps. So not joking about that, just the shoes and that poor little girl. I just wanted to pick her up and rip her shoes off.

Why? Free dessert to those patrons that were annoyed by the constant noise is a good way to bring back those patrons without causing a scene by kicking out the family with the annoying shoes.

You are so right! I had never seen these before but I stopped by to see a friend of mine at her daycare center and there was a little girl in there with them on. I was there about 10 minutes and I was ready to leave. She said that those shoes drive them CRAZY! But, the little girl cries if you take them off. They are hopeing that she out grows them soon and that the mom does not have another size un them. They may be fine for home or whatever, but to send them to daycare is a little much.

Call me a witch, but I say "let her cry". And then tell the parents never to send her to daycare with them again.

I bought my DD these cute little floral sneakers with velcro closing when she was in daycare. The first time she wore them was to daycare, so I didn't know that the velcro CONSTANTLY opened and the shoes would come off. When I picked her up, they told me not to send her with them again. And I agreed wholeheartedly. (Esp after I let her wear them at home, but not for long!) But then, I was one of those people who was extremely conscientious about my kids not being annoying to other people.

I wouldn't be surprised that many places will start banning the shoes as they become more popular, much like the wheelies were banned.

She loved the sound and would laugh as her feet hit the ground and she would dance just to hear the sound......

And that is exactly the reason I did NOT get them for DS. I knew he'd do that, and I had NO interest in hearing it!

I looked into some of the shoes, and was pleased to see that you could take the squeaker out, but then you're paying a premium for something you're taking out. No point!

DS was in Robeez until he was around 2 anyway, or barefoot, no need for big soled shoes that young.

As for knowing where he is...if I had to rely on hearing a shoe to do that, what happens if 3 others come into wherever I am to confuse things? No thanks, I'll be using my eyes.



For those who do enjoy high pitched random noises, a quick google of "squeaky baby shoes" yields good results.

Oh you betcha. I haven't seen them, but I never would have taken my kid out in those shoes. How loud are they??? Ugh.

I thought it was cute when my son was learning to whistle and wanted to do it ALL the time, but I wouldn't let him do it when we were out in public. Other people have ears too, I'd tell him.

Put it this way....if my teenagers wore shoes like that, you'd have them reported! And rightly so....it's not cute, it's annoying.

I agree. I love my ipod, but I don't think it's appropriate for me to carry it around in public listening to it without earbuds. I like to hear my son play his clarinet, but I don't let him play it in stores or restaurants where everyone else will be forced to listen. We got noisemakers at Disney's Hollywood Studios when we were there on New Year's Eve and even though my son loved his I didn't let him use it on the tram or in the hotel lobby because I knew it would annoy everyone else.

If parents like their child to walk around squeaking with every step then they absolutely should get those shoes for the child to wear at home. It's inconsiderate to inflict the noise on everyone else in the grocery or in a restaurant, though. Parents should not be allowing their children to wear those shoes in public.

exactly. I've only seen them once- in a long line at WDW. It drove me nuts and it wasn't like I could just walk away. The parents thought it was adorable but I thought I was going to go looney. Finally she got tired and they picked her up and carried her.

Well, first off, they cannot be kicked out because some people were annoyed by the shoes. And secondly, unless this was a high end restaurant that doesnt allow children, you should expect kids to be there, and at that age, kids can be loud.

So, yes, It was extremely rude, if it even happend at all. Because the more I think about it, the more I dont believe that story.

I think it was a great idea! I would certainly have appreciated it if I was having to listen to the constant squeaking, though frankly I think they should have asked the parents to keep the child seated instead. I wish I was shocked that the parents thought it was okay to let the child wear those shoes to a restaurant (and to let the child run around instead of staying in her seat) but sadly it doesn't surprise me. Some people seem to think nothing of being inconsiderate of those around them, and many parents don't seem to see the need to teach their children proper restaurant behavior. I imagine it makes it very difficult for restaurant owners to have to deal with inconsiderate parents who disturb those around them while also trying to create a pleasant environment for the rest of their patrons.
