Lynard Skynyrd will not be playing at Mardi Gras this year due to an illness in the band. David Lee Roth will be taking his place this year. Hopefully this is not to big of a disappointment for some. I know a lot you guys really wanted to see Skynyrd play.

WELL I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE ..Lynard Skynyrd....... But Diamond Dave... Is a good replacement...........

They were supposed to play here in Houston at the rodeo but canceled that too. I understand the singer? had emergency heart surgery.

Guitarist had surgery and he's doing great, but, we get DLR instead.

Shoot me.

Could be worse, it's the Disco party when we're visiting on April 5th!:p

Not to be negative but David Lee Roth is NOT a good replacement for Skynyrd. We saw them both at Rocktoberfest in Lakeland last year along with a bunch of other bands. Lynyrd Skynyrd went on before David Lee Roth. What a mistake. 15 minutes into his set, David Lee Roth only had about 50 people out of the 3000+ crowd left watching him, and about half of those were passed out drunk in the field. Skynyrd but on an excellent 90minute + show. All great songs, performed well, by a truly talented band that really seemed appreciative of their fans. THen the disaster that is David Lee Roth happened. He took the stage drunk (not just drunk, falling down drunk), slurred words, sung the wrong words during the wrong songs, attempted his "famous" scissor kicks, and much more..... He was the biggest letdown of all 12 bands.... Even Vince Neil displayed more class.

Even still, live music is better than nothing. Maybe he'll have his act together, because he does have some great songs to perform.

Hopefully all is well with Skynyrds guitarist and they'll resume touring soon.
