We just returned from our stay at the Yacht Club (12/9-12/13). SAB rehab was in the lazy river section of the pool, but it really didn't distract from it's use. We only had one day that you would call a pool day, the temp was up in the mid-70's, but cloudy and rainy. Both kids swam for about an hour and my youngest DD loved the slide. I'm actually kind of glad that the weather wasn't better for swimming, because this pool complex is my worst nightmare. DD is 8, independent and a good swimmer, but they have to cross over the open walkway to get to the slide and it was difficult trying to keep track of where she was in the pool. I don't think I sat down once while she was swimming.
I know that previous posters have mentioned re-siding going on. We saw them do Hurricane Hannahs and it was done within a day. The other area that looked like it was being worked on was over by the service entrance. Still looked like they had roof shingles to replace from hurricane damage.
We ate lunch at Beaches & Cream. I was amazed that at 12:30, the four of us we were seated immediately at the counter. The food was good, the atmosphere is fun. DH did notice something a bit odd. When our bill came, he removed the customer comment card and found that it was already filled out. He didn't know if it was just left in there mistakenly from a previous customer or if our server had filled it out on his own.
We had a dinner in the Yachtsman Steakhouse and that was terrific. I had the filet mignon and it was like butter. Unfortantely, I didn't have any room for dessert, but they looked excellent.
We stayed on the concierge level and it was okay. I found the food offerings to be very limited and I don't like the fact that they shut the doors of the lounge between offerings. I understand that they need to set up, but this could be easily accomplished without making it inaccessable. The housekeeping staff was very good, but we were on the bottom of the list, so our room was never made up before 2pm. It wasn't a big deal for us though, as we didn't spend much time in our room. We had garden view, but what we saw was basically the parking lot and a roof. The convenience to Epcot and MGM is priceless though.
In looking towards any future trips, I wouldn't rush to book the Yacht Club again. It was nice and the CM's were very friendly, but it didn't have that "wow" factor.
