Grand Californian Super Thread

It's for all
Is the World of Color viewing terrace available for all GCH guests or just Club Level? I searched the thread and someone asked back in May but couldn’t find any replies.
Thank you!

It's for all Grand Californian guests :) You need your key to get into the terrace.

Here's what I would consider, which you probably already have.

How important is it that you are guaranteed to all be together? If not having connecting rooms would be difficult I'd go with the club level 1 bedroom.

If you'd be ok possibly being separated I'd do 2 standard connecting rooms. It's so nice to have that extra bathroom, and you'd have 2 balconies even though they're not as big as the suite balcony. You also get the extra microwave, mini fridge etc. If you save money doing this instead of the suite you could get room service a couple of times or do a character meal at Storytellers.

When I stayed at the Grand last year I booked 2 standard rooms and called ahead of time to request that they be connecting. I also called the morning we checked in to ask again. The connecting rooms worked out great for our family.

I don't think the views are as important, only because you don't know what you could end up with even if you choose a certain view room.
I appreciate this I really need to just stop the whole view things. Its ridiculous because unless it was a ocean front type situation I wouldn't even be thinking about the view in the past, but for some reason w/ GC I have fixated on it. I don't even know why it is something that I am focused on. Also the whole not know till you check in is something I need to remember. If it wasn't a Christmas trip I would most likely be doing DLH because I really think the kids would love it. I really think I might be kicking myself if I don't do the GC during the holidays.

Them being 'together' is not a huge deal thb, but of course them being connecting would be idea nicel -- but it also isn't a huge deal. I think if we do 2 rooms unless it's one of those situations where you can get the better views cheaper I will just book standard & hope for the best.

There is always that little part of me that is like just do 1 room and not worry about it, but I could see us ending up with the 1 king/sofa bed/chair sleeper. I am barely 5'5 so I can fit pretty much anywhere. My husband is 6'6 & our son who will be 17 is 6' our daughter who is 7 is tall but she will be fine. I just want it to be enjoyable and I just wonder with if the kids ages etc. if we would just be really cramped -- but again I might be over thinking everything!

The king rooms at GCH have a sleeper chair (more narrow than a twin bed) and a pull down bed (small than a twin also). There is no sofa bed at GCH that I know of. We have two daughters 20 and 17. We love the King with sleeper chair and pull down bed. Our older DD is 5’11” and sleeps fine on the chair (but she’s a side sleeper) and our younger DD is about 5’7” and is fine on the pull down bed.

I meant the pull down bed not sofa — I’m terrible and call pretty much anything that turns into a bed a sofa bed. It’s a bad habit lol I heard somewhere else the chair sleeper is also not bad. I’m a side sleeper so I could totally be comfortable in something like that.

Has anyone ordered from InstaCart? Can they leave the order with bell services are do you have to meet them?

Thanks!
I just did this last week. So long as you don’t order alcohol you can have Instacart leave it with bell services. If you order alcohol Instacart requires the delivery person to get a picture of your id so you have to meet them in person.

they sent me a picture of the bell slip as we were in the parks and i was easily able to tell them the numbers and pick it up when ready

Hi all- can anyone help identify the room that I stayed in during my December 2021 honeymoon with my husband? We are going back this December and I'm hoping to request a similar room location. I had originally requested to be near the Napa Rose elevator, the room type was maybe a step above 'standard', and I think we got a nice upgrade back then!

We were able to view the Grizzly Peak, Guardians of the Galaxy, the top of Smokejumpers Grill, and I think we could see a monorail running parallel in front of us. I think this may have been the fifth floor (we had some gravel right in front of our patio) and it's likely along the 424-450 wing. Does that sound right? I'll attach a picture here for reference.

Is there another thread with links to GCH room/balcony views by chance?

Identifying the exact room number is going to be pretty difficult unless you try giving the property a call and have them look up your past reservation as the previous poster suggested, but you definitely have the room block correct (424-450).

Looking at the railing + overhang of the balcony, there's a good chance you were on the top (6th) floor. If you book the Partial View category and request a room close to 5430/5432/5434 or 6430/6432/6434, that should put you very close to where you're at in the photo.

Edit: "Good chance" meaning that you'll be targeting the right rooms, but room requests can be hit or miss. If you get the room position you want but they assign you to floors 2 or 3, the view will unfortunately fall quite short of what you got last time.
