I could definitely be wrong about this but it seems to me that the lagoon view 5th floor concierge rooms at BC have more of a Boardwalk orientation rather than an Epcot/Illuminations orientation. We had a great room and lagoon view at BC CL this past summer but it definitely did not have an Illuminations view. I would think the lagoon view rooms at YC would have a better viewing angle for Illuminations.

That said... I do think I read somewhere that there are some BC rooms on the Epcot end of the resort from which Illumination can be seen, but I'm not sure if they are "lagoon views" and there is no 5th floor at that end of the resort. Perhaps someone with more BC experience can confirm this?

DisneyDW... You might try contacting the Epcot resorts IPO office with your question since you are planning a concierge stay. We found them to be very helpful...

Also confused, because the op says:

"Rooms 3201 and 4201 at the Yacht Club are also Junior Suites. They are the same layout as the Type B's over at the Beach Club, but are larger and don’t have a walk-in closet. There is a daybed in the living area, but two Queen-size beds in the extra-wide master bedroom. Both of these rooms have full balconies."

But the floor plans on his website, 4201, doesn't indicate this room as being a jr suite...

Sorry if this is a repeat but we just made reservations for the BC. They only had waterview rooms available but we justified they expense but "assuming" we could get a room with a balcony to watch Illuminations. I requested a balcony with a view of illuminations when I made the reservations. We will be traveling with a 15 month old, so its pretty important to us to have the request fullfilled so we aren't stuck in a room with no view at her 8PM bedtime.

Does anyone have any recommendations to make sure we aren't disappointed? Our flight doesn't arrive until 6:30PM so I'm concerned we'll just get "What's left"

Thanks in advance!
I don't know how much you will be able to see of Illuminations because most of it are ground fireworks. If you can you really need to go and see it. It is only like a ten minute walk from the Beach Club. Get a spot on the bridge between England and France and you will be right next to the International Gateway to go back to the BC. You just can't miss Illuminations. It is my favorite.

Ours too! It's a very short walk. We could see the higher fireworks from our balcony at YC-CL, and also from the BWI CL Balcony (they were right over the Eiffel Tower!). Really neat. I can not recall ever having been able to see the fireworks from our balconies at the BC-thus we walk to the bridge.

We have booked a standard room at the Beach Club for two nights - Jan 10th and 11th. It's a treat for my husband.

Any suggestions for room requests? It is just my DH and I, no kids.

Request a full balcony, close to the lobby, on the boardwalk facing side.

We loved the colors and decor in general of the YC. We don't like it when it is too busy etc. YC was perfect.

how crowded is the bridge where people go for Illuminations? can everyone see?
Where is a good room to ask for at the BCV?

Just wanted some opinions on the rooms. Which have better decor, the BC or the YC?
Well, since we loved the YC, I would have to say the YC has the best decor. But then, again, I'm biased. :boat:

Okay a quick question...if staying at the Yacht or Beach Club what would you request if you wanted a view of illuminations. Do you need a water view or what.

Thank you

I'm trying to plan our visit, we'll be leaving around 5:00 PM. Will we be able to use the pool that day?

From the Yacht Club, the rooms that can view Illuminations are waterview, but you probably should request Illuminations view because some waterview rooms are of the quiet pool facing the exact opposite from Epcot.

If you mean leaving the the resort at 5 pm to return home, then yes you can use all the facilities up until midnight on the day of departure. You can also use charging privileges on your room card that day until midnight. They will just show up later on your credit card statement.

Great Hotels with Samantha Brown was on today and my husband wants to win the lottery so we can "buy" a room at the Yacht Club and live there and get away from this snow.

We will be staying in a waterview concierge room at the YC. Will we be able to see Illuminations at night? We have two small children so it would be an added bonus to sit on the balcony at night and watch it while they slept. What request should we add to our reservation so we might be able to see Illuminations? Are all the YC waterview concierge rooms/views nice?

Thanks, Karen

I love the concierge lagoon view rooms. I've had a room (5183) that had a wonderful view of the lagoon but really couldn't see Illuminations too well. Then I've also had a room (5175) just down the hall with a wonderful view of Illuminations AND of the lagoon. Ask for Illuminations view on the ressie but if you're working with one of the itinerary planners it doesn't hurt to mention (a time or two) what you'd really love from your room. They'll accommodate as best they can. Enjoy it! The YC is a beautiful resort!!

I forgot to mention....sitting on the balcony with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne while watching Illuminations was one of my favorite nights there!! Our son was three at the time and he watched the bedtime stories on TV while we sat on the balcony. Our other son was 16 and had his girlfriend with us so they took The Breathless Illuminations Cruise by themselves (we had gone the year before). Everyone was happy!!!

Don't know if this has been asked before but here goes: I booked standard view for next week with an AP discount through DU. Any chance I can get any type of upgrade upon arrival? I'd even be willing to pay if necessary, what do you think the chances might be? We'll be arriving around 3PM on Thursday if that makes a difference. Also, I 'm now seeing that SAB is closed for refurbishment :( Any options for that?

Thanks YCFan! Chocolate covered strawberries and champagne on the balcony ... That sounds like heaven! I'm definately going to do that. Do you order them through room service? I'll put in a request for a room that can view Illuminations and see what I get. I'm so excited to be staying at the YC. We are starting our trip at the WL. We love how close that is to the MK. But then I just got a postcard last week and called to get a discount on the WL room and then asked about moving for the last half of our trip to the YC. She said that nothing was available except concierge, and it was a pretty good price so I jumped at it. I always wanted to try concierge. I know the kids will love the pool and I know I'll love everything!
