Is it still true that children cannot wear life vests on the Beach Club water slide. If so: My kids are 6, 5, and 3.5....they are not afraid of the water and they love water slides. Will we be able to stand near the bottom of the slide and sort of "catch" them?

Jess

No you can't catch them. The rules of the slide are that they must be able to go through it and exit by themselves. Also the top part of the slide is all enclosed if that matters.

Gupsmom-
Put those little arm floats on them. They are allowed to wear those my daughter wears them everytime we go. Also I think it depends on who is manning the area of the bottom of the slide because I have asked if I can wait at the bottom for my daughter and they have let me in the past. So just ask first. But those arm floats are a blessing.

My Disney Wedding
MAY 3-2003 CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double check on those arm floats. I believe they are not allowed at the Stormalong bay pool because part of it is enclosed and they are afraid that the kids can get stuck.

Stormalong bay does allow these. I am there twice a year May and then again in Dec and my daughter always uses them. They even sell them at the little float rental store if you want to purchase them there.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How deep is the water at the end of the slide? My son wears a blow up vest...would that be allowed?

We are booked at BC Feb. 12-16.

What pool is closed? I hope it's not all of Stormalong Bay!!

Which floors are finished with renovations? Any areas we should try to avoid?

Thanks for your help everyone!!

I think it will be closed until the end of March. If I remember right You are able to use the boardwalk pool though. I also think it is just the slide that is closed, but I have been known to be wrong..... Please Dont tell anyone. I have alot of family that I would like to think I am ALWAYS right. :smooth: Anyway hope this helps...Have a good trip!

Hey everybody!! Trying to get all the info I can for the BC. I booked Concierge in midMay. Maybe some of you could answer my questions............They said we had a "lagoon View" not a " Full Water" view.........what's the diffrence? I havent seen anyone mention "lagoon view" What would the diffrence be, since there is only on body of water right there? And another question, Are all the BC Concierge rooms refurbished, or just a few? I thought all the room sin the hotel got a redo!! And what about a balcony? Do we get one in Concierge?

I appreciate any info I can get!!
Thanks everybody!!!:earsgirl:

Hi all,
Just made the big switch from the Poly to the Beach Club for my family's next trip. YC had no standard rooms available for my dates. I'm big on the full balcony thing, so I'm a little concerned about BC. In any case, I am looking forward to being by the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM (more food options!). I made my requests last night for non-smoking, garden view, and a full balcony. However, when I asked for queen beds, I was told that was "standard." I mentioned that I knew there were rooms with 2 doubles and some with Murphy beds and the CM said that those were "specific rooms that could be requested." I really need a room with 2 queens because of my 2 y.o. (who will be almost 3 at the time of our trip) DS, who will no longer sleep in a crib. Should I keep the requests the way they are and just fax something prior to our trip or is there anything else I could say? Your advice is greatly appreciated!

It's always good to confirm your reservation, and go over all the requests that you made. Make sure if you fax that you get a confirmation on what you requested at that time. Otherwise, I would call a week or two prior to you trip and confirm your request. I understand that they are very curtious, and will help you the best that they can. Hope it was a least a little help.

Have a great Trip!!!

I read about the wristbands at SAB. If I'm staying at YC and my brother who lies nearby comes to see us,can they go to SAB too?

I was wondering the same. If I have a brother that is staying at AM and he stopped by to see me, would they be allowed to come to the pool for a day??? I probably would think not, because it wouldn't be fair to the other people at the hotel that are paying for a deluxe. He couldn't afford to stay there, but if I watch his little kids for a day, I wonder if they would be able to stay with me there for a few hours.

When we stayed at the YC they checked the room keys of every adult. When my husband and I were there with our kids both of us had to show our room keys. Yes they give out wristbands. One morning we got to the pool right at opening and the person wasn't there yet with the wristband. Within 10 minutes 3 people were walking around checking ID and giving the wristbands out.

I called the YC directly. I was told that both SAB and quiet pool are for resort guests ONLY and that others i.e. my brother, would not be allowed . While I can see enforcing this very strictly at SAB due to crowds,I find restricting the quiet pool objectionable. I have never been to a resort with such a policy.
I would like to know what others experience has been at the quiet pool-are they that strict?

awatt,

You may want to call down there again. I believe that the restrictions for resort-only guests applies to SAB only. I don't believe that YC/BC have CMs standing out by the quiet pool checking for wrist bands.

I would think that your brother and his family should be able to use the quiet pool as your guests, so long as they follow the quiet pool rules.

The restrictions at SAB were setup mainly due to two factors:

1. The amount of people pool hopping to SAB from other resorts.
2. The additional rooms constructed as part of BCV.

I think it is great that they stop others from using the pool at YC/BC/BCV. It is truly unfair to those who are staying there and paying the higher prices to do so. Like SAB isn't crowded enough!

How about if my brother asked me to watch his daughter for the day who is 5 years old while him and his wife go around for a few hours by themselves??? Do you think they would let her come to the pool with me and my children?

Demobri1-Thanks for your suggestion.
I fully understand why access to SAB is limited to guests only, and I think this is a fair policy.
But I'm trying to find somewhere where I can relax, cool off and enjoy my brother's visit. Unless the quiet pool is overcrowded,I would have thought this a good choice.

Mer... The official rule is that you have to have a room key for every person in your party, even kids are given room keys (without charging privledges) upon arrival. I have been at SAB where they asked me to see the keys for the exact number of wristbands I was requesting, and I have been there when they asked to just see my key and then asked how many were in my party and gave me that many wrist bands, so it really depends on the lifegaurd and the mood they are in a the time. Because SAB is such an awsome pool they were not only having problems with people from other WDW resorts, but also locals from around WDW would come there to swim for free. I am really glad they enforce this rule otherwise SAB would be way to crowded.

Well ,at Demobri1's suggestion I called again today. A pleasant gentleman named Kenny told me as a YC guest I could have a guest at SAB and the quiet pool. They just don't allow pool hopping from other resorts. I don't know which CM is right. But when I go I'll see if I can visit with my brother at the quiet pool.
