we just stayed in the YC concierge this weekend....WOW!!!!!!!
they began the renovations on the 5th floor (the concierge floor)...spectacular job renovating....
the colors are the same, but everything was replaced...the whole place was gutted and redone...
plus they changed some of the furniture design....
it's fabulous.....much much much preferred to the BC concierge (until they get that place its much needed renovations)....

Joe,

I would first like to thank you and everyone on this thread
very much. I just can't believe all the valuable information
that is available. I never even thought about staying at
a deluxe resort because of price. We just switched our 7 night
stay at POR to 4 nights POR and 3 nights YC. Once I started
reading about this resort, I was sold. I have 3 boys and I thought that they would enjoy SAB. Please bear with me
if I ask questions that were already answered, because there
is so much info I forget if some questions were already answered.

I am concerned about our room, we have standard, non-smoking,
up high with a full balcony. I would appreciate any room numbers
on 3rd or 4th floor just so when I check in I'll have some idea
of good room numbers. I know we will be in the SAB alot so
an easy access to that area would be good. Any experiences
would be helpful.

Does anyone know if they are redecorating all the rooms at YC, if so when will they be done. We are leaving in 2 weeks.

Thank you.

Ohhh I just heard that they are doing construction at the YC and I just booked a room for October. Anyone know when the completion date is? Thanks! :)

summerrrluvv-

You may be cutting it close. Every post I've seen says construction to be completed in October.

arghh!! It figures! I'll talk it over with hubby and see what he wants to do.

If you really have your heart set on YC, I wouldn't through in the towel yet. Hopefully by October it will just be some finishing touches on the renovations. I know I read earlier on this thread that the concierge is already completed and it's wonderful. I'd call the resort directly or even guest relations and check on things. I also bet you can request a room as far away from the construction as possible. At any rate, I would think that at least most of the scaffolding would be down by October. That is provided everything moves along as scheduled.

Okay, it's almost time to send in that fax! Does anyone know the fax number for the room assigner, and how do I address my fax? Dear .......? I am leaving on Friday the 9th - what day does everyone recommend to send it? Thanks to all of you for the great advice!

I think that you call or fax the resort that you are staying at about three days before you arrive because apparently that's when they have your computer records. Put your requests in order of importance. I imagine you would address it Dear Sir/Madam. HTH

This is posted here, page one, from Joe:
Prior to mid-May 2001, they assigned rooms five days prior to guests' arrivals, but they changed the rules. Now, Room Assignment assigns at check-in...*sigh*.

You should make your requests when you initially make reservations too, but closer to your arrival, a polite faxed letter addressed to "Room Assignment" or the "Room Controller" usually works. In your letter, briefly tell them your request, and it also helps to add a personal note. Room Controllers are the real bearers of the Magic, since they're responsible for assigning all guest rooms. I do recommend with the new rules that you call the hotel at some point on your arrival day, and either reiterate your request or ask if it has been fulfilled. I have no experience with this new system yet, but I will this fall when I go to the Yacht Club. Stay tuned.

Hey disneyholic family-

I hope you don't mind. I pm'd you with a bunch of specific questions I thought you could answer when you get a chance. Thanks!

Hi! How are the Christmas decorations in BC ?
Are there any special activities for Christmas eve or Christmas day? Thanks!

I just got my documents for our trip to BC,(we leave 4 wks from today),I can't wait. Anyway it says concierge floor, lagoon view.It mentions 2 queen beds and nothing about a daybed,(there are 5 of us)I have spoken to the people on concierge and told them our needs and I filled out the form they sent me,do i need to send a fax to the room assigner,or do I contact the concierge staff again before I go? Also is a lagoon view the same as waterview? Meaning will I overlook a pool and that be considered lagoon view. It really doesn't matter, but just curious. thank you for all your help.

I have never seen a confirmation that states there is a daybed, and we always stay at the Poly and all rooms have them. I would email concierge just to make sure.

We, myself, DH and DD8, are hoping to stay at the YC for 1 night before our cruise on the Magic Jan. 2003. DD and I have always wanted to stay at YC but my frugal side has always won out and we always stayed where we have been able to get a much better rate. We have convinced Dh that this is the time to splure and stay at the YC because we are not going to any of the parks, we are just planning on hanging out at SB and relaxing for the one day! Is SB heated? I know that the temp in Jan. can be rather chilly sometimes but if the water is at least warm we would still hopefully be able to swim.
I have been reading that they now give out wrist bands for SB, will we be able to get ours if we check in before our room would be ready? I know check in is at 4:00 but we will hopefully be there by 2:00 and DD would like to start swimming right away!!! I plan on packing our swim suits in our carry ons. Is there someplace we can change if we can't get into our room right away?
DD has some questions about the water slide at SB. Is it really fun? How long is it and how fast do you go? What else about SB makes it the best pool at WDW? She is really excited and I must admit so am I, LOL!
I am planning on calling on Monday (AAA rates become available) to make our reservation. Do all rooms have a full balcony at the YC or do I need to request this? I was thinking of booking a Standard view, Non-smoking room what type of view might we have if I ask for this and does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Sorry this got so long, we just want to make the best of our dream stay!

Cheryl,

You and your family will really enjoy SAB. The water slide is larger than most, and both kids and adults love it. It is fast enough to be fun and tame enough not to be too scary. I am not certain but I think that you will probably be able to use the pool on the day that you arrive. Sometimes, although the room is not ready, you check in upon arrival. The health club is very near the pool and has showers and a changing area. We have made use of the showers in the health club many times when we have a late departure flight. As far as the balcony, I think the only rooms without one are the ground floor rooms which have a small patio area just outside the room. Hope this helps, have a wonderful trip.

We have stayed at the YC twice during January, and both times the weather and water temp were great for swimming, the kids had a blast. There were a couple of evenings that were a bit nippy when they got out, but in the water (heated) it was warm.

Cheryl-

Did you say that AAA rates will be out tomorrow for Jan 03?

adams66, yes, that is what I was told. AAA rates for 2003 will be out July 29! Ia actually caleed a second time. just to make sure and also to check what the regular rates are at YC so that when I call tomorrow I will know that I'm being given a discounted rate and the CM I talked to the second time also told me that AAA for 2003 will be out July 29.
