I love the Beach Club too :thumbsup2 Funny about the request, this year we are going standard view for the first time (usually we book waterview), so, I did request close to the lobby and a daybed. We have had a waterview near the Epcot end before and stayed in a Deluxe room overlooking the quiet pool (the view of Illuminations was great).

I haven't actually put a room preference on our ressie, because I was "assured" it would be easy to get an Epcot standard room with a woodsy view. But maybe I should call and be specific about what I'd like! Were you in the wing at the farthest end of the resort, or were you in the wing near the volleyball court?

Have you guys heard they are now doing campfires and movies on the beach at night? Haven't seen them myself, but a few friends have told me they are GREAT!!!

Does anyone have any more information about these campfires and movies? Are they EVERY night? About what time? Do you have to sign up ahead of time or just show up?

The Deluxe room was 4557, this overlooked the quiet pool, but you could see the higher Illuminations fireworks. Our other room at that end was also a waterview room facing the Boardwalk. Our very first stay, back in January 2001, We had a second floor room facing the volleyball court, looking back I liked this room, it was, however, a waterview room as well.

Have you viewed this map?

This July trip coming up will be our first time to stay standard view, so, my preference was to be closer to the lobby as the walk from the Epcot end can be long to the bussess, SAB and boat transportation. I may regret my decision as I have heard the Woodsy Epcot view are the best of the standard view.

My neighbors just returned from BC on Sunday. They were at Poly 2 nights and BC 3 nights. They said the movie was all nights with exception of one night of bad weather.

Ok I have to ask what am I going to get if I request standard at Epcot end?

I am really interested in the campfires on the beach as well! :goodvibes:

We paid off a few days ago and I got my ME tags today! I am soooooo ready I want to sing it to the world lol. Think this suprise thing is a lot harder on me than I thought!

When we were coming back from our fireworks cruise last Friday night, they were showing the Cars movie on the beach. I didn't see a campfire but that might have been done later. Our captain on the cruise said the movies are open to anyone you walk up and grab a lounge chair.

We're just back from 10 days in the BC Villas :cool1: Blows the Poly out of the water (where we've almost always stayed). Having 2 bedrooms and laundry in the rooms was heavenly!!! 5 minute walk to the champagne stand in France wasn't so bad either

TheYachtsman Steakhouse was a disaster! We were seated 35 mins late and it took 75 minutes to get our food (that was after talking to TWO different managers). Other tables complained and one family just got up and left before getting their food. ** If you have an ADR, make sure you have plenty of time and the kids can handle the wait if necessary.

Cheri - Did you eat at Cape May Cafe? It has always been one of our favorites and we have ADRs for our upcoming trip. Recently, I have read some thumbs down reviews about Cape May and I am hoping that it won't disappoint us this trip.

Sorry to hear about Yachtsman; that doesn't sound like an enjoyable meal - we have been there twice (several years ago now) and really enjoyed our meals.

IMO, you can assemble a very good meal at Cape May....as long as most of it isn't seafood. When we were there, I LOVED the clam chowder. The rest of the seafood was disappointing...rubbery clams and mussels in very weird tasting broths. The fish of the day was good, but they brought it out in skillets with about 6 servings in each, so I had to check back about three times to finally get some. I had some excellent beef tips in gravy. The desserts were great.

The BEST seafood we had in the World were the scallops at Tepinyaki.

Yes. The food was good. We had the same complaint, though, that we had at Chef Mickey's: there were just one or two characters and they spent no time at each table (barely enough time for one or two pictures). Last year we were able to take a dozen of pictures at both places. This year we got 5! We just felt that overall the quality was far below all previous trips. (We will still spend a few days there next year before a cruise though - we aren't that easy to scare off.)

Cheri - I miss you!!

I am a huge seafood lover and don't care for the Cape May Clam bake...same thing as above..rubbery or dried out food...

The breakfast buffet is identical to Yacht's Galley and about $10 cheaper and better service (no characters)

I have a whole theory about the level of service this past trip:
Free DDP has inundated the restaurants with people who usually don't dine in table service restaurants..the restaurants can't handle the extra people. I have always made ADR's and seated within 10 minutes of my time, but many places we waited for 30+ minutes after our time...and the food delivery was terrible as well. Add to that, managers who don't seem to be much more than a glorified waitstaff in a jacket...really..unacceptable actions from someone with the title "manager"

I will not be doing table service during a free DDP again...

I'll help add to the thread :)

We are staying at the BC starting July 6th and we have never been to WDW (including dh and myself) we picked it because of SAB and thought it would be a great place to relax on a hot afternoon for a break from the parks.

I did not request a certain room but did say we absolutely needed at daybed (there are 5 of us), she did say we would get one...I hope so. I also booked a stad view room figuring we wouldn't be in the room that much, but who knows.

I did read the other thread where they were just disappointed in their stay there, so now I am nervous I made the wrong choice?!?! But last year we went to Nuevo Vallarta and stayed at a place with mostly very good reviews but there were some not so great reviews as well, and we really liked the place.

How long is the walk to MGM? My kids will think the boat is fun, so that is fine as well. They are 10, 7 and 7.

Anyway, looking forward to our trip.

Just got back from a stay at the Beach Club. I thought everything was great. We had never been to WDW before so I have nothing to compare to but, you'll hear no complaints from me.

Here is a link to my blog if you interested in seeing some pictures of the resort/pool area. http://jenibenson.blogspot.com/ Other pictures from our trip are on there as well.

We had a Stormalong Bay View from our room. We were worried at first that it would be kind of noisy but, the pool opens pretty late & closes fairly early so it was very peaceful.

I'm not sure how long the walk is to MGM Studios. I would guess at least 20 minutes. We always took the boat. It's only a 5 minute walk to the International Gateway though.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I will try & help answer them. We didn't spend a whole lot of time at the resort though.

Ycnan - The YC / BC as a hotel was fab! I have no complaints..when I complained about the dinner, the manager of the hotel was very good at being a soundboard for my vent...they even have people who walk around the pool and remove abandoned towels that are there to "reserve" chaises

The walk to the MGM looked too far to for my 9yo DD..that and the oppressive heat!

did they have the night time campfire and movie?

They had this when we were there too. I personally didn't see it but, friends of ours said they were showing Pirates of the Caribean one night. Very late though. I'm not sure about the campfire.
