Well, guys, my surgery was a LOT easier than they told me it'd be. Or maybe it was just me...*lol*...but anyway, all the bracing and bandage stuff has been removed, I'm not on anything that prohibits me from doing normal life stuff (well...except for like mountain biking, rock climbing, etc...*lol*) so I am now pretty much back in circulation (hehe).

Ok...I didn't notice any problems at ALL with our rooms both times at the YC. Maybe they had just painted or replaced the furniture, or something, but our rooms looked and smelled new.

how long has YC had the concierge level. We stayed in concierge in Aug. '91 and I do remember pastries, juice, coffee in the morning and light snacks in the afternoon and evening, but nothing of real substance. I do, though, remember the great service...concierge had someone get me Pepto around midnight even though store in lobby was closed...no charge.

Hoping to go back REAL soon...

Hey Vicki,

They've really upgraded the concierge levels since the year they opened. Now, the Yacht Club offers the same grade of service as the other concierges at the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Grand Floridian, and AKL. The runner-up concierges are the Wilderness Lodge, the Poly, and the Suites on the 14th (NOT THE 12TH) floor at the Contemporary...the Contemporary's 12th floor "mini-me" concierge probably now offers the same kind of thing you had in '91 at the YC. The service is awesome...ask them to jump and they ask how high, so to speak.

Oops. Joe-ism...

"Runner-up" concierges would be the concierge levels at the resorts that are not exactly the upper echelon, like the Grand Floridian, Yacht (& Beach) Club and AKL. "Runners-up" are still a cut above the regular Deluxe guest experience, but they don't measure up to the others in terms of personal service, what the cast members are willing to do, food offerings, and general fit and finish.

Welcome back Joe, glad to hear everything went well with your surgery.

As a note to the earlier poster who was concerned about having to request a coffeemaker, yet not having supplies refreshed. Having to get or bring your own coffee supplies with you can be a hassle. Maybe you might want to give NetGrocers.com a try.

Last year when we stayed at WL, I ordered juices, granola bars and other snacky items from NetGrocer and had them delivered to the hotel. It worked out perfectly. The added cost of shipping really wasn't bad at all and was certainly cheaper than buying those items at WDW.

So maybe just give them a try and have coffee supplies delivered.

Just a suggestion.

I just started reading your wonderful FAQ! I'm thinking of staying there this Oct. I thought maybe I better do my homework and do some research on this two resorts.

I just want your personal opinion please. I have DS 4 and DD 2 and hubby and me, which one would you choose for us and why? I do like the laid back atmosphere and I like the soft colors of BC. What would you pick for your personal choice? Thanks!! And thanks for your FAQ!!

Hey, Fantasia!

You guys should definitely stay at the Beach Club. Be sure to request a room near the elevators, and if you can, reserve a Water View room. That way, you don't have to walk far with the kids after a long day in one or more of the parks.

The beach blanket atmosphere is really great for families with young kids, also if you're more partial to the colors and the general atmosphere, the Beach Club will make you feel good.

Plus, it's real close to Epcot. Nice perk, you can just walk with the kids in the door, if y'all want.

I'm adding stuff to this thing real soon, so watch for it.
Until then, adios and thanks for the kudos.

I read in another thread (and the info may be here as well, I am being lazy :) ) that you have to pay to rent a tube at Stormalong Bay, is that true??? If so how cheap of Disney is that!! Paying top dollar and they cant suppy tubes???? Yikes!

RE: Tube rental for lazy river at BC/YC-Do you have to rent one from Disney or can we bring our own inflatable tubes? I read on another post some people buy "noodles" at the gift shop and use those instead of a tube. Does anyone know what the rule is on this? 5 in a family, it could get rather pricey to be renting tubes everyday.

I love this thread!

I do have a question about the alcoholic mugs at HH's...Is it the $8+ for the mug and then $8+ for subsequent refills, or is there a discount on the refills?

I understand the non-alcoholic mugs have free refills, but I doubt that would be the case where alcohol is concerned.

As for Arial's, I have some good news for you all. I am getting married in November at WDW and we wnated to have our reception at Arial's but we were told they were closing it to private events this summer (I think the end of June, if they haven't already) to refurbish it to be a restuarant again. I am not sure if it will have the same theme or not.

Thanks for all the information, Joe! :)

Thanks for your personal opinion!! And thanks for the tip! I will ask for a room near the elevator and waterview and hopefully it will be granted. I will check your FAQ once in a while to make sure I'm getting the lastest infos and read other people's questions and answers. We have about 3 more months!!! :bounce:

Oh, I read here that kids can't wear thier lifevest or floaties on when using the slides because the slides are narrow, did I read that correctly? This could be a problem, cause neither my 2 or my 4 can swim! Let alone, I myself can't swim!! Are these slides for kids only or there some adult slides too? How many slides are there? Will I be able to slide down with my 2 yr old? Are there any slides just for toddlers size? Are the kiddie pool real nice too? Sorry for all these questions. I just wanted to make I got all the facts here, thanks so much!!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to all of you for keeping such a great thread going.

With all the talk about Concierge rooms at the Y&B, one thing I noticed they always mention about the rooms is that there is a "television speaker" in the bathroom area of the Concierge rooms.

My questions is, doesn't this "speaker" exist in ALL of the rooms? I have stayed in the standard rooms at the YC on the regular floors a few times and I always remember a volume dial in the bathroom area to adjust the sound you hear from the television.

Was it just me?

Just wondering,

Wendell

Staying in a Yacht Club Concierge Lagoon VIew room starting July 19th...

already requested:
non-smoking
King sized bed
told CRO it was our honey moon

Thinking of requesting a refrigerator
How would I go about requesting a larger room?
Has anyone ever been able to upgrade to a suite? If so, at what kind of upsell charge?

Hey,

Requesting a fridge is a good idea...there aren't any lagoon view regular guest rooms on the concierge level that are larger in square footage...they're all about 381 sq. ft.. Suites...would only be available if the Suites Dept. of Central Reservations has them available, but I'm not too familiar with the upsell policy, so something could develop. I reccommend you check in to it! :D

Um, the television speaker was in our bathroom (4163, not concierge) last time we were there I don't know if I have it listed for all the rooms, though. I'lll check and get back to you on it...

Thanks, more to come.
