<i>...bows...</i>

Your wish is my command. I stuck some more BC pics on the first page, more on the way.

I'm working on the floor plan thing. Story of my life *sighs*. You'll know when I know if this isn't like last summer's around-the-block spin on 'oh i'm working on it, working on it, working on it, whoops! ran out of time..'.

Cali...I think that's about it. Just remember to go over the room requesting section if you want, it may help.

Hi Joe! I just got back this evening from the Yacht Club after staying there for 4 days. Yeah, yeah, I know...too short a trip, but a MUCH needed trip nevertheless.

I've been reading through your string, and I wanted to give you some updates to help the Forum:
  • I was in room 4111 (top left hand corner of your 4th floor map). It didn't face a parking lot, but it had a view of a garden of trees, and in the distance you could hear the buses go by.
  • I wish I could've taken pictures of the BCV construction currently going on near the Beach Club. <u>I had no idea</u> that the building would be THAT CLOSE to the BC. Also part of the turn-around in front of the BC is obstructed due to the construction. Some shuttles/limos had to actually back up their vehicles in order to clear partition wall to get to the main driveway.
  • The refillable mugs, according to the CMs at Fittings & Fairings gift shop, are no longer for sale there. They are only available through the mini-bar in the rooms.

That's all I can remember for right now. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I had a great time, and will most definitely go again! :)

YES!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've seen this question asked (in another thread), but never did see a definative answer:
is there bottled water in the *smaller*, plastic bottles (ie, lighter weight, as sold in parks & great for carrying around) currently & readily available in YC concierge? (heard they were: in other concierges, at "one time", only in large bottles, only upon request, etc)

thanks for the answer (and all the GREAT info!)

Hoolaz,

Welcome back! Another dyed in the wool YC fan... :)

The concierge lounges at both the Yacht and Beach clubs always have the little bottles of water out for guests to take to the parks.

Mimi, I'll definitely update my floor plans this week, and also I'm going to stick the BCV building in to the existing BC floor plans. Yes, the building is within spitting distance of the existing Beach Club...*rolls eyes*...I also had no idea, but I guess it's a done deal.

I updated the first page again with your refillable mug info. I think it makes sense for them to do that, though.

I am also going to get a picture up that I took of the balconies that have a sideways view of the lake (the "garden view" standard view rooms, if that makes any sense).

Thanks, and watch for updates.

I assume this question is answered somewhere else on this great thread, but I don't have time to read all 14 pages!

I was wondering what is a King Murphy Bed? Also with 2 adults and a 4 year old child, would you recommend a Kingbed with a day bed, or would we get a larger room if we requested 2 king beds - or is that an option.

Thanks for such a great thread!

First I want thank you ( and your Mom) for all your wonderful information. I started planning about a year ok and after a couple of false starts I decided to go for it and book a junior suite at the YC. I wanted the location&view w/o the worry of if my request would be met, I wanted Boardwalk, Stromalong bay everything, even found out concierge would be thrown in. To swing it all we cut back the days, just stayed 3 nights, and got frugal for a year. When we got there and got our room assignment it was not 3201 or 4201 as I expected, panick time. When we got into our room, just DH,14 yo DS and me, I was floored we recieved and upgrade unexpected, unrequested to a 2 bedroom king /king suite. 3209! It was fantastic. YC was everything you said and more. I'm not sure how we got so lucky but maybe it was because the real VP Cheney was there and would have been above us?? but I give you credit for giving me the map/ info that got me started.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much thurn, I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. Actually, Joe should take most of the credit...I haven't done anything on here in <i>months</i>! I really am glad this thread is flourishing. We're planning our next trip to the Yacht Club this Fall, perhaps the week of the DIS convention.

Have a great summer,

MAF

Two weeks from tomorrow (Thur - leaving July 12th) Anyone gonna be there then.

Does anyone know what time they will assign our room. We plan to take the floor plans of the YC on the drive with us and call them at 7am and find out what room we will be in. We have asked for Lake views by the elevator (18 of us in 5 rooms). This will give us some time to ask them to move us if they don't give us what we requested. Does this sound like a good game plan. Do we have a pretty good chance of getting our wishes. I am faxing over a cute letter from my kids the week before we go and then the day before to help things a bit.

JC, any advise?

Hey Jimbo, Donniekins

I've read through everything and I'm not sure this question has been confirmed (if so, I apologize).

Do the BC jr. suites (deluxe room) and 1 bedroom suites include concierge access?

Also, are these ever discounted?

What are your thoughts on this. We were planning on doing 4 nights at WL jr suite following a 4 night DCL cruise in 2002. Now I'm thinking of switching from WL to BC. for the lighter theming and pool. There will be 4 of us, included 2 sons, 3.5 and 10. We have a 1 bedroom suite on the cruise with concierge service so I'm afraid moving to a standard room would be a let down. That is why I was thinking of the jr. suite. We will be going during value season but still the rack rates are too high for concierge($445), jr. suite ($440), or 1 bedroom suite ($465) so I'm hoping for a discount using DC or AAA or a special code.

This is a great FAQ - thanks for all the detailed information.

Hi! Is there a playground for my 2 and 4 to play on? How much is it to rent a tube? Can we use our own tube? Is the kiddie lifevest free or do you also rent that too? Thanks!

OUCH Mark, you bumped into me. LOL Let's keep this thread going.

Ok, I will ask a question and curious as to the answer.

I am going to the YC in August gonna be in concierge and went from a standard view to a lagoon view back to a standard view. OK, so I change my mind like the weather. What I want to know, are the rooms the same in those two catargories or should I change again. I am going to run out of luck, they arent going to hold rooms for me till I can decide? LOL:) :bounce:

Howyadoin,

<b>GailT</b>, wellll, if you get a Standard View room, most likely you will not have any view of the lake, only lawns, trees, parking lots, or the roof of the convention center. The water view rooms are exactly the same, except that they have a direct or sideways view (i.e. you might have to crane your neck a little) of the lake. Check the floor plans for details, but it all depends on your preference, I guess.

<b>*Fantasia*</b>, Umm...I think there's a playground, and if there isn't one per se, the kids' areas of Stormalong Bay are enough of a playground for your kids. I...believe...flotation rentals are free. You could inquire at the front desk when you get there.

<b>mark</b>, ALL of the suites include concierge access. At that price, would <i>you</i> justify not getting concierge?

<b>borelsw</b>, Hrm. I think they will assign your room as soon as you check in, no earlier. There could be a tiny chance that they would assign your room before you check in, but their new policy states that usually, they have to assign rooms during the check in process. Room assignment now blocks groups of rooms to be assigned to various incoming reservatios. The letter might help. :)

<b>thurn</b>, Awesome, awesome awesome. Did you take any pics of your suite to put up online? Eventually I want to have pics of every guest room type up on here.

<b>4 Princess Morganne</b>, A murphy bed pulls down from the wall, like you might have seen in Japanese movies or something. The maid retracts the bed up into the wall when she comes in to clean. You just pull it down when you're ready to sleep. This opens up extra space in the room for whatever you want. For 2 adults and a 4 year old, definitely go for the King-bed-and-a-daybed option. Request this when you make reservations (if you haven't already), and again at check in.

Thanks guys, and don't forget, your replies are what make this thread deserve 5 stars!!!! :D

JC

Joe Cool, thanks for telling me the difference, I called up, what I have is a garden view and they told me I will have just that gardens. To be honest I dont care that much cause I am usually not in the room except to sleep.:smooth: :) :bounce:

<b>Just a note...</b>

I wanted to share something with all the people who use this thread to get information and ask questions.
Most of you who are familiar with the original incarnation of the Yacht & Beach Club Question & Answer Forum (est. July 31, 2000) are used to the idea that whatever info you need was probably answered in one of the question posts. Wellllll...after this thread grew to about 30-40 pages in April, I designed the new format of this thread to be more like CaliforniaDreaming's Grand Floridian FAQ thread, or SwanDolphin's FAQ. Rather than having to comb through pages upon pages of questions and answers, I tried to condense relevant information onto the first page, so that y'all have it easier.

I tried my best to arrange that most of the general questions could answer themselves, and I hope 7 long posts is a lot better than 40 short ones. Questions and answers are always welcome, but the moral of the story is, if it isn't on the first page (that is, the first 7 info posts), I probably don't know it. ;)

Thanks for all of your patience...

<b>Update Plans</b>

<i>Hooooo</i> boy. Here I go again.

I'm getting a completely new computer system, scanner and all. I will scan and prep floor plans of <b>Yacht and Beach Club Rooms</b> when I get that all hooked up.
The computer itself is going to arrive the first week of July, but since I special-ordered the printer/scanner combo, it will take longer...

Wouldn't it be nice if I gave you a complete set of the redrawn Beach Club plans instead of asking y'all to use your imaginations for the top two floors? <b>Coming Soon.</b> And I mean <i>soon</i>.

Finally, there's always the request for all of you eager DIS'ers to jump in and answer questions here too. Couldja kinda see that I'm...um...getting ready for the school year, when I probably will have less and less time to housekeep this thread? *GRIN*...Thanks, you guys.

JC

I think you can get away with 8-10%, but we always left 15%. Personally, I am a really stingy tipper in restaurants. And....I don't think they allow you to leave cash on the tables.

JC

is the YC or the BC an option if we DO NOT WANT TO HEAR OR SEE ANY CONSTRUCTION?

thanks
