I'm also very interested in finding out which concierge Lagoon view rooms are smoking.

Hopefully there are some that have a good view of Boardwalk. I really would like both Boardwalk and Epcot views, but will be happy Boardwalk view only.

Anyone got any clues as to where I can get this info?

Thanks guys !!!!!

Does anyone know the answer to Cheryl's question above? Can we bring our own inflatable tubes for the lazy river and the rest of SAB? I have asked this question before and never received a reply.

I don't believe that you are permitted to use anything other than the tubes that they rent.

I am brining 2 inflatable tubes (the kind you get at the Dollar Store) for our trip in August for my 7 & 3 year old. They will not take up any room if I keep them in the bag until we get there. Then I will see about using them (ie, asking or seeing if anyone else is using them).

Yo JC,
Can you tell me why the Deluxe Room is cheaper than a Concierge Water? The Deluxe Rooms include concierge, correct? Thanks!

Hey all!

It's been a while. I got my car back...it's better than ever, but my new computer arrived and...well...it doesn't work. I'm gonna have to send it back to the manufacturers for a replacement...I think this is what they meant when they said, "stuck in the twentieth century." It's 2001 already, why can't they make computers that work!? Mine just keeps giving me a feedback loop...oy, vey. Other than that, you guys have been doing an awesome job keeping this place bumped...

First of all, the official word on kids' inflatable floaties in Stormalong bay pool is that water wings or "swimmies" are permitted, but guests are not allowed to bring any other inflatable floats for the pool. This means no inner tubes, rafts, noodles, etc. You can rent them for no charge, but the Walt Disney World-sanctioned inner tubes and rafts are the only ones that swimmers in Stormalong Bay may use.

figmentvi, I am not exactly sure...call the Yacht Club and ask them at the front desk. The phone number is on one of the first pages. Hopefully, if you request smoking, (i'm not sure if you can reserve) you'll get a smoking room. If they are out of smoking rooms on the concierge level, they may assign you to the fourth floor and code your elevator key for the fifth floor.

princess angel, I hope you're having a great time in WDW!!!!

Cheryl, SAB hours are posted under the Swimming section of the first page. The third floor is a nonsmoking floor, and just link yourself over to the Room Requesting section for advice on water view rooms.

bat4less, All rooms at the Yacht Club are away from the construction, which is happening over at the Beach Club...and as I said up above, I really am not sure about which rooms are smoking and which aren't. Here's something...I realized we had a "smoking optional" room (4163, water view, corner room) in Januaey '01, and we didn't smell any smoke.

disneyberry, hey hey! A belated thanks to you.

Watch for the first of a bunch of updates I am working on...beginning July 31.

Later,

JC

JC, could you please tell me if there is any difference between 2557 and 4557? The floorplan that I have says they both have full balconies, is that correct? Thank you!

I didn't see this on any of the first few pages, so I'm assuming that the forum fell by the e-wayside over the weekend...

Ok...Cali, might you have the old version from last year? The differences are in the minor details, and the new versions are much easier to comprehend.

Later last summer, I updated the YC plans and got the idea to re-draw the Beach Club plans. Tonight (July 22), I will upload the new set to the place that I'm using to host the rest of my Disney stuff. I'll notify y'all here when that's all done, and along with that, I am going to update the link on the first pages.

The only difference between 2557 and 4557 is the balcony, I believe. Check the plans that are online if you want to see what I currently have up...and if you don't have the old set, let me know here.

Looks like no upgrades for me, the conciegre is closed at the BC so people have the option going to the yatch club, they are already booked fffor my dates 8 10-14......unless I get a suite on the concierge floor, Nah, I was in the wishful thinking mode.;) :D

Thanks Joe Cool for this thread. I'm considering a brief trip in the fall for BC or YC concierge. Why is BC concierge closed and for how long? I'm not sure which to pick. At first, I was going to try BC - then I read that the decor & rooms were nicer at YC. About the time I get settled on YC, I hear reports that the staff is rude.Has anyone had any problems with BC staff? Actually, I think we'd rather stay at YC - if the staff problems get cleared up. This has been a great thread. I've learned a lot. We have two teenagers, so I think they'd have a lot more freedom staying here than at any of the other resorts.

Hi Jane,

>> About the time I get settled on YC, I hear reports that the staff is rude.<<

I read this on your last post and I was curious as to where you heard this. Did someone you know have a bad experience at the YC?

Like you, I was planning to stay there too, but with this report, now I am not so sure.

Any information you can shed is appreciated!

thanks,

Wendel l :)

First off not all of the staff can be rude. Let's think about it, they have off days, don't we all at our jobs. Just because it is Disney are they expected to run around like June and Ward Cleaver when something is eating them on the inside. Also another word, did anyone ever think that maybe they wern't in a great mood at the time with the other party because the guest was to demading, arrogant and down right rude themselves. Give the Disney people some slack, they are human just like all of us and I am sure they have off days too.:)

Wendell, I've read posts on these boards where people said the staff was wonderful. I've also read the opposite. Joe Cool seems to love these resorts, so there must be a reason for his favorable reviews.

Gail, I agree that I've found Disney staff to be very courteous and helpful. Earlier this year, we stayed one night at AKL, and everyone was wonderful. I have read some negative and some positive comments about YC concierge. I'm hoping that the negative experiences were a one time deal. If you have stayed there was your stay positive? I'd really like to try it, because of the great pool area.

Also, I found, on another thread, the whys and whens of the BC concierge closing. I was hoping for a good rate at the end of Sept. but if they are closed - the other resorts' conciege floors may be full.

Jane, I have never stay at the YC this will be my first time. I did call just out of curiosity and the BC concierge is going to be closed for a while, I didn't get the exact rates. but I called for selfish reasons, I was hoping for an upgrade to a water view. LOL I'll be sure to post what I thought of the YC and to be honest I can't see me having a problem at all. Like I said in another post I talked to Katherine in concierge and she was very nice. so that is the first posotive thing for the YC.:)

Thanks, Gail. I'll be watching for your review! Someone else just got back from YC conciege and posted this morning. They had a great time, and said the staff was very helpful!

First let me say this is a fantastic thread...my DH and I are vacationing at WDW this September--first trip for both of us! We have reservations at the Beach Club (the trip is for his birthday and he picked the resort, mainly based on the pool and close proximity to the Boardwalk and Epcot). Prior to making the reservations I called the hotel directly (CRO didn't seem that aware of the details of the hotel) to ask specific questions.

One of my concerns is the BCV construction. I work for a real estate developer, and I have absolutely no desire to see on vacation what is the standard view from my office window. The CM I spoke to said that construction was isolated, and avoidable. Also, I had read somewhere about the Murphy beds; however, the RADP post I tracked down said that they were labeled sico rooms on the reservation form. When I called the hotel they said there were king rooms that weren't murphy beds and that it shouldn't be a problem getting one. This is a major concern because my husband has back problems and I don't think he could take a mushy mattress for more than a few hours.

The CM I spoke to recommended calling a few days prior to our arrival to confirm my requests. I was just looking for anyone with personal experience--particularly with the king rooms. I was very clear about the fact that I would select a different hotel if murphy beds were the only options for a king size room.

Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks.

Joe Cool or other former YC visitors:

Are King Sico rooms available on 5th floor concierge? If yes, which room(s) are they on the floor plan?

Thanks

Howyadoin,

OK...the offical word is that there are no SICO rooms (or King Murphy Bed rooms, if you will) on the fifth floor.

HOWEVER, you can pay for a concierge room and request to stay in a King Murphy Bed room on a different floor. It's not guaranteed, but at the Concierge price, you can even request to stay in any regular guest room in the hotel.

Oh, yeah...and everybody's saying that the noise is minimal from the Yacht Club side. You can definitely see cranes from the beach area (and most of WDW, for that matter...!?), but if you stay at the Yacht Club, you'll be farthest from the construction work.

Tomorrow I plunk down a deposit at AAA for a stay at the YC in Dec. of 2002. I always wanted to stay at either the YC or BC but could not talk my wife into it, she is a Poly girl. Thanks to your site here I am sure we have made the right decision. Your site is very well done and much appreciated...smj
