Staying at BC for 2nd time in late aug. Loved it last year and couldn't wait to come back. This year bringing mother-in-law and my parents (1st time for all of them) plus my DW, DS (14) and DD (8). We have waterview rooms. Will waterview get me away from construction? Any chance of getting an upgrade when we arrive? (it is also our wedding anniversary.) Didn't know about the construction till after I made reservations and my wife and kids don't want to go anywhere else. Just trying to make this a great trip for my family. Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

 :)

First things first....thank you for all the work in maintaining this post...AWESOME!! I just booked a room at the YC for April 25-May2 next year. I am going with one of my best friends and have usually stayed at the Boardwalk. I requested a garden view in the wedding chapel area since at this point the only discount available is AAA. If a AP rate comes along we may upgrade to a waterview. What has your experience been with AP or other types of discounts at the end of April? I have had trouble even getting a room at the YC in the past and I'm sure its especially popular during the Epcot Flower and Garden event due to its proximity.

Sorry it's been so long since I posted, but life caught up with me. Yesterday was my girlfriend's 17th birthday, but to my horror when I was about to go pick her up, my car wouldn't start. Just great, eh? She ended up <i>walking</i> to my house from where she was (in 85 degree heat no less...sigh), while I ended up having to call a tow truck.

!@#%&...!

Well, 2 hours later, our plans were pretty much squished, leaving us carless, with an empty house ( ) due to the rest of my family waiting for me at our place at the beach. *Sighh*... so here I sit, waiting for them to fix the cruiser, with the only transportation option left being Mom's good ol' minivan. If my car's not ready by tomorrow, I might just drive the van down.

Thus, I'm left with some time on my hands.

<b>minister22</b>, I haven't gone at the end of April, but hopefully someone has with an AP. I don't think the AP rates are out yet, but if you reserve at regular rate you could try calling them back when the AP rates come out for next spring. I think that information gets posted here on the DIS resorts board. We <i>did</i> stay at the Caribbean Beach during F&G season '95 at Epcot, and we got AAA discount availability for...I believe 10% off.

<b>JKeats</b>, Cool! Yup, you won't have a construction view if you go for WV. Late <i>August</i>? Hrm. I think that's considered high season, but if you ask if they have an upgrade at check-in they might be able to set you up with either a Junior Suite...or...on the other end, a Concierge Garden View.

My advice: stick with the Water View. If you get any other kind of view, even if it's Concierge, you'll be closer to the construction.

Thanks, you guys, and if all goes well the next update of this thread will be on <b>July 31, 2001</b>.

Thanks for all the great info on this thread! We will be staying at the Yacht Club for the first time October 1 - 6. We have booked 2 standard view rooms. Now I keep wondering if I should upgrade them to waterview rooms or just go with our luck and see what we get (that's what we did at the BWI and we had a great room). If I stay with standard view and change my mind later, do you think it is possible to upgrade when we check in or will all the waterview rooms already be assigned to other guests? Any opinions or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I think the view is a personal choice depending on what you want, how much time you spend in the room, and how much you a willing to pay. The extra money for the water view could be used for meals, etc.

Be aware that a "water" view room could be a view of a pool and not the lagoon. I would suggest you see how much the difference will be and base the decision on that. There is always a chance, but probably small, that you could try to get a comp upgrade at check in if a water view room is available. I do think booking 2 room probably DECREASES your chance on a comp upgrade, expecially if you want room close to each other.

This may sound a little crazy, but for us, the view we choose at the Yacht Club correlates to our sons'age. We get up early for the early openings, do the parks, and relax at the pool before dinner. No matter how much time we have built into our day for relaxing, my son always falls asleep fairly early in the evening. My husband and I enjoy the water view at the YC because you can sit on the balcony, have some dessert, and still be a part of the action. You can even catch a view of Illuminations. For us, upgrading from a standard view has always seemed worth it. But, it's really just another personal choice you make. Have a super vacation!!!!!!!!!

Well, I saw it coming. I'm not a Disney trivia geek anyway, (no offense)...but at least I held up my team while we were still together. Oh, those of you who didn't know...I got voted off Survivor. Big deal. I enjoyed it while it lasted...until the merge. Hee hee...

OK.

<b>MNT</b>...October!? Could work. I'd stick with standard view for now. Also depends on the luck of the draw, because now that they assign at check-in, all the water view rooms might have been occupied...or then again, maybe not.

Bump, of course, and I'm working on the update. Stay tuned.

Ciao,

JC

Hi Joe !!
We have been trying to get an answer to this question- maybe the expert can help. We are arriving at the BC on August 14th and are staying concierge. We have not heard one word or received any mail from them. Should they have contacted us by now ? If so, then how can we contact them to find out what's going on. We would like them to help us with some special PS requests. Thank you for your great post- very helpful .

:p :bounce: :pinkbounc

joe,

we switched to YC standard view-concierge in sept- any suggestions on which room to stay away from construction and has to be a NON smoking room.
thanks jc in advnace

Joe,

haven't checked in on this FAQ for a while, but now considering staying at YC/BC for my next next potential trip (yeah haven't even gone on the trip i just finished planning last month... )

anyway, surprise surprise, i see in the Phone Request Tips section, you used the info in my post on CRO codes for room requests! ;)

just funny, 'cause i was rereading the FAQ, and was like... hey wait a minute, isn't that my wording?

anyway, i hope my info has been helpful to all those who obsess over getting their room requests "perfect". ;) my original post from the end of June has gotten pushed back very far on this board i'm sure, w/ the crazy activity we see here everyday.

expect to see some questions from me about YC/BC later!

take care.

Minnie's Guy

I am going to BC on the 24th of July 11days !! Yipee. I have a waterview Concierge Room too, I hadn't heard from anyone either. So I called CRO last nite, and they patched me thru to the Concierge. They were very apologetic as to not having called or mailed anything. I said I understood, it was prob my fault cuz we had changed our ressie 100 times. So i would suggest calling the CRO and let them know that u haven't had any contact from the Concierge.

Have fun .....11 days and counting.:pinkbounc :bounce: :pinkbounc :bounce:

we're going to the YC concierge on wednesday!!!!!!!!

A couple of questions about the concierge lounge, I thought it was open til 10pm, but on your report it says desserts and cordials from 7-9pm.
so what time does the lounge close??

also, mikamouse said there was oatmeal at breakfast hours, is there, cause it doesn't mention that anywhere else?

thank you so much!

Laura :)
only 4 days til YC concierge!!! yipeeeeeeeee :D :D :D

Princess Angel, I was told when I talked to the concierge level they are open till ten at night. Time is getting close for you, have a GREAT GREAT time.

Laura :)

Laura,
We were there in February and I didn't see any oatmeal.
Lots of cold cereals and Krispy Kreme donuts (a moment of silence, please) lots and lots of fruit ... but no oatmeal.

Let them know and I'm sure they'll come thru for you. They fufilled all our requests...even after one of the kids broke their lamp:eek:
Enjoy

My computer crashed and I lost everything on it including my favorites. When we were planning our trip to Disney someone gave us a code page Mary something. can anyone help?

Joe Cool, all I can say is WOW what a wealth of info, thanks for all the work you've put into this!!!! We will be staying at the YC for the first time the end of Oct. We will probably do 2 nights at GF in a garden view room and then 3 nights at YC in water view room thanks to the wonderful AP rates and I am soooo excited about both!! After reading all the great info here I can't wait!

I have a few questions. I have requested a non smoking room, are all non smoking rooms on the third floor because this seems like it would be a nice floor to be on or should I go ahead and request to be on the third floor also? Any other tips on what to request for a waterview room would be appreciated also.
What time does SAB open in the morning and how late will it probably be open until in Oct? Can my daughter bring her own blow up tube to use in the "lazy river" and the rest of SAB or do you have to use theirs and if so what do they charge for them?

Thanks again for all the great info!

Cheryl

Being that we love the YC SOOOO much, what do you think the chances are of CRO or WDTC issuing out those code postcards again, but during the late Peak/early Regular season?? I would <u>love</u> to go during that time of year! Thanks, hon! :D
