I really wasn't sure where to post this. I went to the official Disney careers website looking to see what jobs are available in Lake Buena Vista. With so very many employees at Disney World I am just wondering why are there so few available jobs to apply for? One employee that worked with horses at Ft Wilderness told me there are 40 employees alone just to take care of the horses.

Despite all the horrible stuff the news likes to say about working conditions at Disney, a lot of people absolutely love it.

They may not pay the greatest but the job possibilities are endless and from what I understand, the benefits are top notch.

There's a reason you constantly hear stories about people that have worked there for 20,30,40 years.

My dad's wife was born in 1971 and has been going to WDW every year since she was 5 years old. There's a lady at the Magic Kingdom that has worked there all those years and has wonderful memories of my dad's wife. Out of all the millions of people that lady sees every year, she actually remembers them. That's someone that loves their job!

This is an article about the cast member but this is not about my dad's wife. https://www.buzzfeed.com/jenniferabidor/this-woman-had-an-epic-disney-reunion-with-the-snow-white

What you are looking at on the public official Disney careers website is just the left over vacancies that are not being filled by all the internal in house recruitment resources. Disney like many companies recruits in house first, current cms can get department transfers, theres various programs like the cultural representation program and the college program, as well as professional transfers and internships. Certain roles and departments may not even advertise and recruiters many "head hunt" for vacancies.

I guess you are right because there is very little on there.

Yep, there is not much on there! DISNEY uses an internal transfer system called, Transfer Genie (not to be confused with Genie + lol). They really do a lot of transfers and promoting internally. I follow them frequently as I’ve been applying here and there for jobs that I would be interested in as I am moving back to Florida soon and most of what I see on the career site is very job detailed specific.

Like …. I’m not an Arborist lol but they posted that job twice now. And it is super specific! You have to have certifications, degrees, experience, etc. Sooooo you have to wait and hope to get lucky that they post your very detailed, highly specific job or go in somewhat entry level, maybe part-time, and wait and apply for a job you can later fulfill through Transfer Genie. This is what I plan to do. I finally got a bachelors degree last year and I applied to work at DISNEY as a bartender. I am what is called “waitlisted”, which means DISNEY asks them to hire people to fill the role even though they’re actively not hiring for it just yet. So it could be anywhere from 2 to 6 months until I actually go to training and start working.

I’m OK with bartending at Disney even part-time because the pay there is pretty good for bartenders! Once I’m there, then I can poke around in the Transfer Genie, talk to my recruiter, and start finding some of the more internal office type jobs that I’m aiming for.

But, yeah, Disney doesn’t post new jobs often these days.

Sounds like someone I'm following on YouTube. She did the College Program 3 years ago, found and applied to transfer to her dream job after the college program but got wait listed. So then after her College Program ended she stayed on and then transfered to a different role while she waited for her dream job. After 2 years waiting and re applying she finally got her dream job.

After watching quite a lot of YouTube videos, either the college program or the international cultural representation program seems to be the main way Disney in Florida hire for entry level jobs.
